Raman's thoughts on the other hand kind of confused me. I guess he and Ishita are in this comfortable place and he does not want to ruin that by falling in love.

P.S. I'm a little confused with the story, especially the part where Ishita was asking for her contraceptives. Maybe I have forgotten something in the story since it's been a long time but do help me clear the confusion cause I don't get how Ishita is talking about contraceptives when Raman on the other side doesn't even think Ishita loves him. What is their stand about their relationship right now?

Women with period issued take contraceptives to deal with them, like heavy I think. Heavy periods. Lack of periods. PMS. And menstrual cramps.

Will reply to the comment later

Love your comments though. <3

That's what I like about them. That they're so into each other without even being into each other. Okay. That sounds wrong. 😆 Either that or my mind is trolling.

Her assumed first time. From Raman's side we know nothing of that sort happened. She just woke up in different clothes. A different environment and assumed. I think so. 😆

Partly. And then they first and main reason he did get away from her was to keep her away from the mess that his life was. And then he messed up with the Adi thing. Then comes the fact that his stand with Adi and Shagun will always leave Ishita with a nagging mind or it will until he sorts that part of his life out. Will he be able to give her the mental security? And they are in this place where they get each other and they're so good with each other. Yeah, you get it better than I do. I give up. 🥱

Haha. Same here. I've lost my touch with Meherbaan. 😭

---EDIT---

Girl, how good is this? Seriously. Do you even know? I don't think you do... it's good, like really, really good! What is this 'lost my touch' nonsense? No such thing. I love this, so much emotion, like deep melodramatic emotion ... but it makes sense.

The idea of ISHRA as nerds united is quite unique.. I can see that they'd be solitary people considering all they've been through. I loved the glimpse into Chithy's thoughts, very revealing and refreshing to get a somewhat unbiased look into the past. But even she can see both the genuineness and the 'something off' in the ISHRA relationship. The solitary ISHRA thoughts was also well presented...

The hurt, fear and hesitancy that seems to over rule them both right now in taking the next step surely needs to be addressed at one point ... but it seems they can't do it on their own, so maybe this setting an these people are the push they need. Looking forward to it, the romance. I love the emotion but I want romance. I demand it. And you do it well, no worry on my end about that.

And finally Nalini, how you got me feeling bad for Nalini? I feel more for her then ever I did for Shagun... bu t maybe because she doesn't exist on my screen... 😆

And then Princess Ru, she's aaalll mine and I appreciate her guest appearance- so cute she is. Looking forward to the next update, I know you'll rock it!

PS: Pic...love, so great!

PPS: Thanks for finally giving me a name to the face we've hated. That's her name. On any screen. I agree. Thanks... you are so good, taking consideration of my requests like that...😉

PPPS: Thanks for the dedication, seriously- appreciate it. You know how much I love this and i know how much hard work goes into it. And I appreciate it for reals,,you rock...⭐️

So I went to reply to you and I can't get the cursor blinky thing whatever it is. The thing that allows you to type. You know the line. So I can't type to pm. India forums and me don't get along. I tell.

Now I feel bad. 😭

Do you how great we are? Half your comment comes after I quote to reply. So Cool.

Melodramatic emotion 😲

They are nerds. One is a top notch CEO and the other is a pediatric surgeon dash dentist. They didn't get to where they are flying papads. Unlike the show. They're intellectual people who I'm not intellectual enough to perfectly present. So I stick to the goof. 😆

Asking an anti romantic for romance is very ramantic. Too cool you are but I love you, bas.

You feel bad for Nalini. It's all the influence of Ruhi. In a way Nalini is in the same situation as Ishita. They're two faces of the same coin. Ishita never wanted Raman yet she got him and the better end of the deal. Nalini always wanted Subbu but now that she has him she's stuck wondering if she really wanted him in the first place. It's unrequited love gone wrong for the latter. And in this case it isn't a fairytale. It'll be stupid to make Subbu fall for her so fast and soon especially when that fool is obsessed with a kid.

Guest appearance. Next update is ALL IshRa. In my mind it is. IshRaRu. I'm stuck I have two paths. Both are roads not taken. They lead to the same destination. But the path is what matters. Okay. Partially quoting Robert Frost in my own words. I need sleep. Let's go to bed

I think I need to clear my cache so I can finally reply to your pm or change browsers. Ugh.

I love you

C H A P T E R 1 7 D D H E E R E J A L N A

Subbu looked at the man at the corner of the room - their house bar. The Iyer house was something to marvelled at. Not only was it massive, it was the perfect mix of tradition and modern architecture. It was magnificent.

"You're a loser! Seriously, you're such a loser. Kaha itna hot maal and there the gharelu you married," exclaimed of his friends.

"Sachchi. If you had any problems with her. That would be okay. If she had any problems, that would be okay too. Look at her. And look at Nalini. Seriously. You're that moron who would trade a diamond for graphite."

"You'll seriously think she would have married Subbu."

"Yeah, kitne saal uske ke saath chakkar chalaya and sabko pata hai that she didn't even let you hold her hand."

"And that guy over there. She knew him for weeks, got knocked up. Ended up marrying him. Now that's a relationship. Admit it. She used you."

"After all Subbu bhaiya pyaar mein pagal tha."

"Tha nahi, an bhi hai. And wo ab abhi dana nahi de rahi hai."

"If he had to marry her then, today he would be married to one of Delhi's highest paid doctors."

"Bola na, class ka mamla hai. Even if they did marry she would have dumped him for some guy."

"That's the difference between you and that guy over there. No matter how hard you try you won't be able to reach the first step to get to her level. And he? He beats her level without even trying."

"Tum rehna, with your Nalini. Nagging, forever irritating Nalini. But lo, she loves you. She luurved you since she was sixteen. Now that is good."

"Whatever made you marry Nalini instead of Ishita? Dimag ghaas khane gaya tha kya?"

"Seriously, you spend 27 years of your life abstaining from all the worldly pleasures. Sala, and then when everything was done. All that was left was seal the deal with the only girl you've ever cared about you go ahead and dump her? Like, what the f**k Subramanian? And you marry the girl everyone teased you with? Does that make sense to you? Because sure as f**k it doesn't make any sense to me."

"What happened? What made you'll split?"

"Nothing, we weren't meant to be," was all that Subbu said.

"If you'll weren't meant to be then why are you still pining for her? You broke up with her, right? Then why are you the one trying to get back together? What happened Subbu?"

All Subbu could see was the man sitting at the counter. The man who stole his chances at being with Ishita. The man who deserved red. And as Subbu saw his brother approach the man, Subbu felt like smashing something. Anything. That man was taking his place. And Subbu didn't like it at all. Not even for a moment.

So when Subbu saw a girl wearing barely any clothes embrace Ishita's husband she grinned inwardly. While his friends awed at how hot the girl was, Subbu saw this as the perfect opportunity. He knew that something was wrong the minute Bala gave Raman and Mihir the he you'll-are-dead-men-walking-look. Subbu knew that he had to cease this opportunity and make very good use of it.

Subbu's friends stared at the young girl wearing a crop top and a pair of high waisted ripped shorts. She was the bomb. Doe eyed. Full lipped. And the dark volumous mane. A complementary nose ring just added to her enigma.

They would he lying if they hadn't tried to gain the attention of a girl almost half their age. And she did what they expected her to do - she walked right over to RKB, stood behind and covered his eyes. One could swear they saw RKB roll his eyes and scrape those hands off his eyes. And they expected fury and drama. Instead they got the younger one demanding a hug in apology and RKB giving in to the demands of the pouting one. Only to ruffle her hair later as she handed him her phone and skipped over to Mihir and Bala. While she shook hands with Bala what she did with Mihika's fiance was the bomb! She pecked Mihir on the cheek. Oh, how many men wished to be in his place.

And as she walked out of the room virtual violins played for some while rose petals flew for others who cursed RKB for stopping her mid-way.

"Tumhe lagta nahi ki tumne kapde those zyada pehne hai?"

"Sach mein? Nahi toh. Mein har girl sleep over mein yehi pehenti hoon. And vaise bhi bhabhi ne bhi yehi pehna hai. Humne kapde coordinate kiye the"

"Humari itni acchi kismat kaha. Jaldi jao varna voh yaha aakar mera bheja fry kar degi."

****

Raman was to be left alone. It wasn't that he didn't want company. But no one offered him company and it wasn't in his books to forge new friendships. So he sat there fiddling with his phone and thoughts until his daughter came along, and instead of offering him company she ran off after mumbling something about sitting with a lady and her baby. It was when his father-in-law sent him a reassuring nod that Ruhi was in safe company that he was fine. And then came along who skipped across his father and stood besides Raman requesting the older one to life him up to his chair where he rolled his eyes and mulled over how unfair life was to guys. So Raman switched his alcohol for a wine glass filled with neat coke for Shrav and an iced coke for himself. And together they sat there just perfect loners chucking over random nothings as Shravan complained about Ruhi to Raman and Raman complained on how his Madrasan and Mini Madrasan had ditched him upon coming here. And when Aditya called complaining about Shagun going out on a date leaving him alone, they had formed the perfect trio until Aditya disconnected upon reaching his Dada Dadi's place.

Bala had called Shravan over as Shravan refused to come citing that he receiving training on how to be a big brother. And when Bala countered that he was a big brother too, Shravan had said that Bala was a the big brother to a chachu he didn't know about, when Ruhi's papa was the big brother to four siblings. And then Adi was Ruhi's big brother and everyone was scared of him, so Ruhi was safe. That he wanted to be a big brother like Aditya.

To which Bala had laughed and said that he too needed training from Raman. He was following Raman's footsteps in having kids with a similar age difference. An elder son and a younger daughter.

Raman had laughed and said that he had his Madrasan too.

Shravan had been Raman's self proclaimed best friend.

And Raman had been more than happy to welcome someone from Ishita's camp to his.

And when Ishita had walked into the boys adda, everyone had been more than happy to welcome Akka. If not scared for the reaction her would have with her wearing clothes half the men in room wouldn't permit their wives to wear. Heck she was wearing something Subbu's wife wouldn't be caught be dead wearing. Instead her husband just rolled her eyes as Shrav shook his head at the duo. Ishita had smirked as Raman grinned and held his hand for a passing high five.

Bala could swear he saw Raman's grim face lighten up upon seeing Ishita. A light smile grace his face as he gave her a passing hi-fi. And Ishita laugh as she saw Shrav drink from a huge wine glass. Something only Raman's mind was handcrafted to do. And upon asking Shravan all he said was that Ruhi had ditched Raman and so had she, so he had decided to give him company. And now that she was here, he was leaving before he was chased away.

Ishita laughed as she took Shravan place opposite Raman.

Raman rolled his eyes and and held his face in his palms. And Ishita quirked her eyebrows quite suggestively quite enjoying her husband's misery.

Raman then turned around and called out to Appa mumbling something like "Appa bachane, tumhari beti ko phir se daura padne wala hai."

Ishita rolled her eyes and called out saying," Appa tumhare super cool damad se kehna ki voh mera phone mujhe wapas kare."

"Matlab he was using your phone till now, privacy naam ki cheez bhi hota hai Ishu akka," called out one of the cousins in the background.

"Leh, gayi behes (buffalo) pani mein, tum se koi kaam dhang se nahi hota hai, right?" mumbled Raman.

"Phone do."

"Mujhe yeh nahi samaj mein aa raha ki you, the apple fanboy, how did you manage with my android?"

"Leh, this is the perfect case of the pot calling the kettle black. Madam, tumne mera phone liya tha. You pocketed my phone and pata nahi kya halat kar kiya hoga mere bechare phone ka!"

"Maine aisa kuch nahi kiya, Raavan Kumar."

"Tum kab karti kya ho, tum kahe toh sab kaand apne aap hote hai. Ishita madam bas situation mein tapak padti hai. Haina?"

"Raavan. Kabhi seedhe mooh bat nahi hoti hai tumse. Har waqt taane marte rehte ho."

"Kya karoon. Tumhe dekhte hi sari seedhi batein tedhi ho jati hai. Ismein mera toda kasoor hai."

"Vaise kyun bacchi ki tang kheech rahe the?"

"Voh tumhe kis angle se bacchi lagti hai?"

"Tumhari tarah buddhi nahi hai,"

"Maine usse kaha tha ki ripped jeans and a white top. Mujhe todi pata tha ki woh shorts and tank top pehen ki ayegi"

"Point. Woh tumhari tarah todi hai,"

"Meri tarah matlab?"

"Tum ek kaam karo, tum bhi shorts and tank top pehen lo,"

"Laake do."

"Pehen logi?"

"Pehen lungi,"

"You won't bail out or anything, right?"

"Laake toh do,"

"Deal?"

"Deal!"

"Baghwan saach mein sunta hai," said Raman as he threw his hands up in the air.

"Men. I tell you. Toh tum Baghwan se yeh mannat karte ho, kash meri biwi shorts pehen le,"

"Humari itni himmat. Hum sirf hope kar sakte hai. Tumhe pehna todi sakta hai," and upon seeing Ishita wiggle her eyebrows rolled his eyes "Aisa hone wala bhi nahi hai." and then he moved away to the counter to serve himself.

"Bolo na, agar maine kiya toh tum kya kar loge?"

"Mein kya karunga aur kyun karunga?"

And as they walked towards the counter, Ishita smiled, pushed a stray strand behind her ear and linked her arms to Raman's as she leaned onto him for support.

"Two feet ka distance. Pata hai mein bahut hot hoon and tum mujhe marti ho. Aur sabko yeh bhi pata hai mere sar pe zindagi bhar iss chudail ka saaya hai. Koi paas bhi nahi ayegi. Ab toh haq jamana band karo."

"Kyun puttar ko dar lag raha?"

"Amma agar humare kamre mein alcohol ki bottle jab dekhte, she starts detoxifying the whole house. Agar tumhari Amma ko tumhare aadhe kartoot pata chale toh mera chood, think about you. Mujhe apne liye nahi, tumhare liye dar lag raha hai."

Ishita rolled her eyes.

"Bolo na, kya kar loge?"

"Mein kya kar lunga? Mauke ka faida utha lunga."

"Kinky. I like it."

"Great. Either I married a pervert or I'm creating a monster,"

"The latter? And admit it, you love me, mein hoon hi itni adorable.."

"Haan, aur sanki hi ho. Tumhare dimag mein yeh jo faaltu ke chuhe daud rahe hai na, wo mere ab pait mein daud rahe hai. Jaldi karo yaar."

"Ruhi ne khana kha liya?"

"Tum pehle kha lo, mein Ruhi ka dekh lunga."

"Ruhi ke liye order something. Preferably non veg."

"Kyun?"

"Kyunki Ruhi tumhari beti hai. Ruhi ko non veg ki aadat hai. And for the past three days she's eating everything veg. She's a kid, she'll throw a tantrum sooner or later. Better to be prepared."

"I'm not handling this."

"Oh, yes you are."

"We get to anything and you don't say a thing. Okay?"

"Depends."

"That isn't fair."

"It isn't fair that I get to do all the discipline and you get the fun times either. But it still happens."

"You're evil."

Ishita smirked.

And Subbu's father watched from afar as Ishita approached a table with that Bhalla boy. He had purposely lost his hand and leaned against the wall as he observed the young couple from afar. The way Ishita played with her food and Raman shoveled some into her mouth mumbling something he couldn't hear but could lipread to "itna bhi bura nahi hai", which caused Ishita to turn away and chuckle causing her husband to chuckle in return. She had then started picking from his plate as they switched their plates. Ishita had thrown her head back and laughed as her husband shook her head. Subbu's father noticed the way Ishita crossed her legs on the chair. The way the young couple utilised their dinner time to chat over things and probably debate over a thing or two by the looks of how Raman rolled his eyes and turned away and Ishita smiled and did a mock woot. They had taken their time with their food and each other. And when they moved to get their desserts, he noticed the way Ishita goofed around with her stoic husband and him not taking any part in any of it but widely accepting it. When Ishita took an aim at his foot, he dodged it nearly causing Ishita to trip and fall over. And it was he who held her balance all smirking at her. Never in his right mind did Subbu's father think that Ishita would marry a man like this. Never did Subbu's father think that the Raman Bhalla they saw on the screens - the man who viewed people as players on his chessboard - would be the man he saw. When he watched Raman Bhalla speak of his wife and daughter for the first time dressed to the boot, he took it to be a publicity stunt for an image makeover. Never had he thought it to be genuine. He didn't know much about the man. He didn't know much about Ishita. He had been selfish. He had ruined it and now that it was dead and done - the consequences stood right in front of him and they haunted him. He couldn't stand looking at them. Looking at an alternate future. A future where Raman's place should have been Subbu's. Where Ishita should have been happy, not with Raman but with Subbu.

So when they started the karaoke sessions and Ishita and Raman positioned themselves on the love seat with Ishita cocooned in Raman's arms it felt so wrong to Subbu's father. Almost like infidelity. So when Raman mumbled a thing or two to Ishita who just snuggled closer and smiled pulling the light sheet over her, it felt wrong all over again. When Raman's buried his face in Ishita's hair. Or when he held her hand. Or when she fed him a spoon full or two of her dessert when he refused get a bowl for himself. When Vishwa and Nitya took over the stage to sing to "Everything Has Changed" and Raman subconsciously sang along not really knowing what he was upto had Ishita gazed at him with a lost smile and then mumbling along had Subbu's father known that they were a lost case.

'

'Cause all I know is we said, "Hello."
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name
Everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed

That they were lost to each other. That they were on a journey of their own. That nothing else mattered to them.

And all my walls stood tall painted blue
And I'll take them down, take them down and open up the door for you
And all I feel in my stomach is butterflies
The beautiful kind, making up for lost time,
Taking flight, making me feel right

Subbu's father had failed to see his wife glare at the young couple. Or his younger daughter-in-law stare at her husband with an unexpressed emotion as the latter crushed the cards he held in his hands. He failed to notice the other couples in the room who were falling for the ambience the situation offered them.

And the Bhalla couple shook their heads as Mihir and Mihika bickered over something thus breaking the trance.

Raman tickled his wife making her burst into silent giggles of mirth and asking her to move. The latter whined over her husband's unromantic nature.
And when the lights dimmed, the karaoke beats stopped and instead played desi dance beats, Ishita found herself missing her lost teen years all over again. The rendezvous. The fun, frolic and loss of innocence. She needed to let loose. She wanted to stop being the frigid person that she came off to be. Dance a bit. Have a drink or two. Know what it felt like and then be content that she hadn't really missed out on anything. She was in her late twenties for heavens sake. More than the majority of girls her age didn't know what the world responsibility even meant and here she was, the poster child to being the ideal responsible Indian naari. Never knowing what letting loose felt like. Never once being irresponsible. Always the perfect one. The ideal one. The role model?

"I want to go out dancing," she said, expressing her inner desires into thin air not really expecting anyone to pay any heed. Momentarily forgetting or never really knowing the fact that she was married to a man who would readily turn the world upside down just to get her what she wanted.

"Toh, let's go out."

Ishita stared at him gobsmacked, not really expecting his response to be anything but a cruel jest.

"Are you asking me out on a date, Mr. Bhalla?" she played along.

"Jo bhi apko teekh lage, Mrs. Bhalla," he Saif flaunting that smirk of his.

"Mauke pe chuke marna koi apse seekhe," she smile.

"Sangat ka asar hai," he chucked turning away.

Further breaking this into two more parts. So I'll have two more updates before this and then I get back to studies. All hail Sundays and the obligatory breaks that come with them. #woot

Be Intehaan has been updated if anyone reads it. Please leave your feedback. It doesn't have to be anything nice. Even if you tell me you hate it, I'll appreciate it. It just feels good to know that there's someone reading or following and that im working towards something. And please comment. There have been no PMs sent. Commenting keeps this up in the ranking list and if anyone else follows it, it'll help notify them.

Please, please let me know if you're following this or not. Or if you're following Be Intehaan.

Two more updates.

P. S. Will edit and add English sub texts to the Hindi quotes after I'm done with this as a whole.

Next part dedication to the first person who guesses the 'girl' right. 😆

Since this gets confusing with so many parts I will be adding a time log for each part till I complete this chapter as a whole. Easier to follow.
