To me Ashok Khanna is an ALPHA MALE ... he came he saw he conquered ... each & every dialog of the past .. was of a Alpha male .. someone who thought its his birth right to take what he wants .. he comes from an affluent background ( note his house is a mansion) .. his wealth is inherited .. not earned ... he was a business owner .. while raman is still an employee & share holder ...

TO me Ashok has been a person suffering from SUPERIORITY COMPLEX .. an exact opposite of INSECURITY ... his modus operandi every time shows that ... he bribes .,. he thinks because its him & him making effort the contract should come to him ... he is not really thinking client .. & thats the edge that Raman who has worked with dumb blonde always exploits ...

Theres a very interesting scene between Raman & ishita .. i forget the episode when it occurred .. but she tells Raman ... - U KNOW UR PROBLEM .. U R BECOMING EXACTLY LIKE THE KIND OF PERSON WHO U HATE" .. UR BECOMING ASHOK KHANNA ...

Ur becoming a person with a superiority complex built in .. all his talk of aukaat .. his stature in life .. his suitability in the beginning of the serial all alluding to his monumental superiority ego ...

Thats the part that Ishita wants chiselled off Raman .. the man who thinks just because he is RAMAN KUMAR BHALLA he is superior ... no a man is superior by the deeds he does .. by the love he encounters & spreads ... thats HAPPY BHALLA ... he is a mix of a confident .. happy ... loving yet an achiever in life ...

Thats the last barrier she has to overcome ...

Raman Bhalla was a content nerdy fellow .. happy with his lot in life ... .but that Raman Bhalla will & can never be recreated .. simply coz that Raman Bhalla lost ... but from the loss emerged a man who was also another extreme .. someone who did not value anyone over himself .. hence he went away from his loved ones ...

His coming back .. his slow healing at the hands of Ruhi & Ishita has healed him to a certain extent .. but the REAL MAN .. the real Raman Kumar Bhalla .. is the man who will be a mix of Alpha Male & nerdy male ..

RAM KUMAR .. & RAAVAN KUMAR ...

Thats the final barrier to fall in this love story ... the emergence of Raman as THE man ...

Ever since the Shaggy expose ... the romance has stepped up ... & whats amazing is .. that amidst that romance has stepped up the no. of times she has called him rude ... the alpha male who wants to stake & mark his territory ... But love is not territorial ... love can be possessive .. but not territorial ..

Phew ... bahut likh diya ...

This is purely my reading of the Characters ... ur post made me do some thinking on ASHOk .. i always pegged him as a DUMB BLONDE .. the quintessential north indian munda .. more brawn less brain ... a man full of himself .. a man who thought he is THE BEST ... a man who thinks he is the ULTIMATE MAN ... look at his confidence .. even after very stern rejections from Mihika he feels that he will get Mihika ...

HENCE ... he will always LOOSE TO RAMAN ... because the winner is a combo of an ALPHA & NERDY man .. thats a COMPLETE MAN ...

I've joined this forum recently but read all of ur posts coz they make me love this serial so much more!!!

Honestly, i've never seen an Indian TV serial, but I've heard about Ekta's shows and have always thot that the content of her shows is always crap!!!! Sorry about this, but from what all stories I've heard this is my thot.

Which has suddenly been changed coz of this show!!! I aint complaining as long as the show keeps up with its simplicity and beauty and i get to read such amazing stuff!!!!

Now, coming to ur post- If i had to describe Shagun in one word then i'd just say shallow. She's selfish to the core, Self centered, egotistical. She's obviously concerned only about herself and want others to think about her only too. I think the reason why she keeps a hold on Raman is just to give her shallow ego a boost. There are such people in real life too. People who hold on their pasts just so that they can feel good about themselves. She's not the normal Indian television vamp and thats what i like about her character.

But the point of insecurity that u have pointed in ur post is very true too. She knows Ashok is a mental sadist who likes to steal things that people love coz he gets a devious pleasure out of it. Ashok is interested in Shagun to only hurt Raman thru her and will keep her only as long as Raman will hold onto Shagun and get affected by her. In one episode she herself said that if raman falls in love with Ishita then what will U do? How will u torture Raman the? Shagun is odf the same kind. She always said to Ishita that Raman only loves her. She also liked making Ishita insecure about her!! Ishita never had that prob but she lived in a bubble where everyone is affected coz of her.

Now that Ashok is seeing that she has lost her hold on him, he's losing his interest in her. Shagun also sees this and thats why she's getting all the more desperate to marry him, as soon as she can, before he shuns her out! Now the facet of Shagun the desperate insecure woman is coming forth!!!

Shagun has always lived her life in a happy bubble which has recently been brutally burst!!! Its bound to make her desperate!! And i'd love to see how she tries to woo Raman back. She'll be unsuccessful we all know that, but i just wanna see what all she tries. Best will be if she tries to seduce him, get physical with him and Raman to then throw her away coz she has always prided herself on her beauty. That jolt will really bring her world apart!!!!

Yes, insecurity is a thread that's common to them. There's also a Choice that life offered both

One made a choice to put love for material above love itself. She traded a bond of love for material.

For the other Love is not a choice. It is not something to be traded off. She instead made the choice to get into a bond, just for love.

So, another thread that binds them is love.

For one it is about I, me, myself while for the other it is about just - pure giving.

A Narcissist Vs an Altruist, as you wrote. A human being Vs being human.

One is a woman that needs a man to satisfy her desires, while other desires to be the woman her man needs.

Now on Ishita and Raman

Mani is only going to be the catalyst in this beautiful chemical reaction between husband and wife. A catalyst which will trigger and speed up the realization yet will keep the relationship of a true friend with Ishita without change.

A reaction which will heal both of them completely.

As a viewer/ reader / writer ... i always feel if u are able to justify the bad / villain / vamp ..then the bad is not truly bad ...

To me Shagun is bad ... she is majorly flawed ...her past which was bad does not make what she is doing now justifiable ... Mihir was a product of the same background .. but he chose to rise & make his own niche in the world ...

One thing I wanted to mention - It's not about good woman vs bad woman. I don't see Shagun as a bad woman. Shagun is a narcissist and Ishita is a nurturer.

Ruby, thanks for sending that link. As usual, an amzing post. I am still catchimg up since i have been out of touch for over a month, but your post gives me a great idea what to look forward to.

I loved these characters, and definitely look forward to their revelations. The two characters that i would love some insight on- Param and Ashok. Lemme catch up and do send me the links as you write. Will be here more often. 😊
