GREENER PASTURES

From day 1 of the show this woman has fascinated me ... she has been written as a classical character ... In the past in telly shows what we have seen are caricatures of woman who are petty .. a woman vamp is normally shown as downright petty or downright MEAN & UGLY .. some one who is hungry to get money ...

Then burst YHM on screen & here amidst a unique mature love story shone a brilliant character ... The VAMP .. Shagun ... was she simple .. Hell No .. was she just a petty vamp .. Hell No .. was she just a mean ugly person .. Hell No ... she was SIMPLY the other side of the HEROINE ... HELL YES

Have written numerous posts on the 2 women of YHM .. Ishita & Shagun .. the writers took the route of contrast in these 2 women to tell a tale .. yes the contrast is there ... one is good one is bad ... BUT they shockingly have one incredibly similarity ... INSECURITY .. the one common factor in both these women ..

When the narrative has been about contrast in these 2 women .. one heroine one vamp ... would the tracks not be the same ... Hmm food for thot .. that is all I am going to say about the future ...

In Ishita her insecurity as a woman .. makes her nurture every relation a little bit extra ... she takes her nurturing a little to the extreme ...

In Shagun her insecurity as a woman .. makes her turn inwards .. she concentrates only on NURTURING HERSELF ...

Have u ever wondered why in every battle that these 2 have come face to face .. Ishita wins ... the answer to that my friend is ... Ishita was open to healing ... her opening herself to LOVE ... Helped heal her ... While Shagun's closing herself off from love ... kept festering her wounds .. today she is nothing but a rotten bunch of wounds .. which have festered over a period of time ...

Greener pastures ...

Well the title packs a lot of meanings ... I will give a few of them here .. but would love to hear ur interpretation of the same ...

In numerous discussion threads .. in numerous posts .. I have alluded to this scene (palak paneer contest)... but what I understood from most posts was that people thot this was a petty issue of 1 person asserting herself ...yea to a certain extent it was ...but what it was actually .. " THE TRACK of YHM"...

If u are a part of the daily LU . then u may have read that I said .. this track finds its base laid in the past episodes .. infact way way back .. & all thru the series amidst mini tracks there have been 2 major tracks which have run ...

Track 1 : Pal Pal Badhe Yeh hai Mohabbatein

This track found its start from the moment these 2 lovers stood in Ishita's room after the Param fiasco .. the slight blush on both their faces ... the need to stay together was clearly evident ... He wanted her back .. she never wanted to leave ... they pledged that day to stay together ... a feeling of one completes the other ... ever since then u have seen a growth in their relation ... there have been some very strong jerks that the relation has got .. but each jerk instead of parting them .. just brought them that much closer ...

Track 2: Pal Pal Badhe yeh Dooriya ....

They danced together at Mihir's sangeet ..but he made her fall from grace .. he insulted her ... she ran away .. when a bitter truth was brought to her forefront .. he was getting over her ... Simmi told her .. u have no effect on my bro ... Raman spoke to her about LOVE .. a pure love he shared with ISHITA ... the grip was loosing ... & then one day in a beauty parlour .. her domain .. she met Ishita ... in the war of words she realized ... She had lost - RUHI & she was fast loosing RAMAN ... she vowed that day to reassert herself in the life of Raman ... That's the start of TRACK 2 of YHM ...

We all know about track 1 .. so am not talking about that here ...Track 2 here goes ...

But to understand Track 2 ... one has to ask the all important question ?..

Why does this woman want to keep control of RAMAN ... she clearly does not want him .. she clearly does not want to go back to him .. she detests him .. she clearly is not holding any latent emotions back for him ...she left him not the other way round ... Then why is she doing all this ???? is that a question which has troubled u for the last 240 odd episodes ... so here goes

ITS ABOUT OBSESSION ... & BEING OBESESSED ...

Shagun is a narcissistic woman ... her every thot is her .. she is the most important person in her own life ... She met the man of her dreams (note I dint use the word romantic)... Ashok Khanna .. who according to her fought & got her from the demons clutches .. demon not being Raman but demon being a life of mediocrity ... In Mihir's own word, his sister even at a very young age craved for the best things in life ...

Yes she was married to a man who worshipped at her feet .. who would give her what she wanted ... but what she wanted & what he could provide within his means were very different ... she walked away .. WITHOUT LOOKING BACK ...

She lived the life she dreamed off - YES - but what she did not get was SECURITY - YES - Ashok fulfilled each & every whim of hers ... but what he did not give her was an IDENTITY ... HER hold on him was frugal .. it was strung by a very very very thin thread ... THE THREAD CALLED ... RAMAN KUMAR BHALLA ...

The day Raman came back as the VICTOR ... Ashok started talking marriage ... He dangled marriage if she fought & got Ruhi .. he dangled marriage every moment in his quest to thwart Raman ...

Yes Raman Kumar Bhalla was the key to HOLD ASHOK KHANNA to SHAGUN & the only way to hold Ashok was to make RAMAN KEEP WANTING HER ...

Have I opened the pandoras box yet?... Shagun cares two hoots whether Raman loves her or Ishita ... what she cares about is ... IF Raman's focus on her would move ... her ONLY REMAINING HOLD ON ASHOK will go ...

This was obsession ... obsession of becoming Mrs. Ashok Khanna

So for a moment lets go back to the balcony in Bhalla house & Raman's scream at Mihir ... "let this woman get/marry ASHOK - cause only when she will get what she has set her mind to will she live in peace & let us live in peace"

HER FOCUS ON RAMAN would end & she would leave his WIFE ALONE

The path of obsession ...

She knew whenever she would need him .. Raman would run to her & she loved dangling this thread ... Everytime Raman showed he was LETTING GO of the thread .. she would TIGHTEN it ..

case in point ...

After the dance sequence she tried committing suicide ... Whoa .. she never intended to Kill herself ... what she wanted to do even then was PROVE to ASHOK .. that her hold on Raman was still intact ... if anything happened to her .. he would be standing there lamenting like a love sick fool .. coz it was in FRONT of Ashok that Raman showed he had moved on ...

It was after that incident (Mihir sangeet dance) that the words Marriage soon disappeared from Ashok's vocabulary... he read/heard Raman ... Coz it was at the end of that party that the seeds of unrest were laid by Raman ... he told Ashok "what kind of a girlfriend do u have who has to constantly look for herself in her past lovers) GAME SET & MATCH RAMAN ... he unknowingly or knowingly opened the pandora's box ... he set her on the path of destruction .. he set her on the path of ruin ... he probably avenged himself MORE that day ...because he lit the fire in the funeral pyre of Shagun's marriage plans.

So she had to play another BIG ROUND to get back to being THE WOMAN in ASHOK KHANNA's life .. she found that in Aditya's accident ... she knew Raman would figure out Adi did the accident ... She knew he would move heaven & earth to save Adi ...

But what she did not mention to Ashok was that the accident was not committed by her .. BUT ADITYA ... she wanted to show ASHOK .. that Raman would move heaven & earth for her ... She wanted to show ASHOK .. she mattered to RAMAN .. she wanted to show ASHOK .. she dangled Raman on that very thin string even today ...

But - it is a thin thread ... Even though she is self obsessed she knows Raman has moved on .. she has got the point ... but she needs to atleast show to Ashok that the string is intact & its this focus on the string .. which makes her ALIENATE ... ASHOK KHANNA ... thereby loosening the string by which this relation is hanging ...

During The Accident Track .. she focused on showing Ashok how much Raman was panting for her ..she wanted to show ASHOK .. Raman chose her over Ishita .. & was fighting against Ishita to save Shagun ... dint u wonder why she did not want ASHOK anywhere near the COURTROOM ... but what she did in the midst of all this was ALIENATE ASHOK ... she gave Ashok the opening he wanted .. she in order to tighten the string with Raman ... loosened her strings oN ASHOK .. thereby letting the first crack in the name of MIHIKA appear ...

Ashok another narcissist self focused man - he who had taken away from Raman ... saw the grip loosening .. What he saw was ... it was no more Raman after Shagun .. but Shagun going back to Raman .. he to lost his grip ... he was thwarted ... so he made the plan to thwart ...

She went on a picnic with Raman & the kids .. yes to tighten the bonds with RAMAN & loosen the bonds of Raman's new family .. But what she did was alienate Ashok ... the man who snatched .. saw it all being snatched back .. he to had given 6 years to this relation ... he had THiS ONE SINGLE ONE UP on Raman ... & that due to this woman's silly obsession was going to naught ... She deliberately rubbed FAMILY in his face to make Ashok think FAMILY ... But what did she do .. she alienated ASHOK .. all the more ... She made him take the battle right to her doorstep on that hotel room ...

Ashok could see himself loosing edge over Raman ... he read Shagun had no hold & Raman had truly moved on ... he could also read .. Ishita was not someone who he could sway ... so he looked around & found a fitting target no.2. A target thru which he could now hold on to Raman's strings - Mihika .. the aadhi gharwali saali & let go of this obsessive baggage called Shagun ...

Do u remember the dialog he utters when Shagun spends the night at Bhalla house .. he says "whats with you the two of u .. u cant stay away from the other" BINGO .. underlines Ashok's frustration to the "T"

While she was busy making Ishita loose .. Shagun was actually loosing ...

Will give u a moment of pause here ... if push came to shove .. would Shagun actually take the blame for the accident for Aditya's sake ???????????? did u never wonder why the elaborate ruse of taking the blame .. she could very well have made the driver to be the culprit & bribed him to shut his mouth & apologise ... ofcourse she knew Ishita would forgive ... if Shagun knows anyone as well as she knows herself its ISHITA ...

But for her, her mission was accomplished .. she got her 5 carat ring at the end of this whole hoopla ... Another battle which she won ... did u think she was waging a war on Raman & Ishita .. no she was waging a war to WIN the title of Mrs. Ashok Khanna

Then came Suraj . the man who could eclipse her win ... he was shining bright & bringing to light every insecurity of Shagun's .. she was aging .. there were younger available crop .. she was a mother of a child .. there were nubiles available .. whats more ... she was easily to be abandoned .. there was NO FAMILY who would stand up & question ...

She started her elaborate ruse ... did u think it was about showing Ishita down .. no no no .. it was about regaining her family ... She got her mother .. all her plans of reaching Ruhi had gone to pits .. Ruhi had time & again rejected her .. so she thot of adding her mother to the bargain .. someone NEW who could reach Ruhi .. She also got Mihir back .. she knew the moment Ishita was targeted .. RAMAN would throw down his weapons ... she knew by now ... ISHITA was Raman's weakness ... A slight touch to her & Raman would surrender & what's more make MIHIR surrender ...

She won that battle as well ... she got her family back .. she now had a mother .. a brother .. a passively supportive ex .. there were people standing behind her to wage the war that SURAJ had unleashed ... her marriage to Ashok was back on track ...

But once again in her obsession with self .. she moved the focus off ASHOK

The scene which laid the track ...

Palal Paneer Contest ... Greener Pastures

Ashok was invited to dinner it was a moment where she would lay claim to VICTORY ... she would show how she had emerged victor ... she very smartly has Mihika invite all her relatives ... Showing how Shagun had people standing by her ... Then she very smartly alienates ... Suraj from the equation ... it was not about Ashok's family .. it was about Shagun & her family ...

Then she sets about showing to ASHOK .. she still held the TRUMP CARD ... RAMAN KUMAR BHALLA ...

Did u for one moment think this was about showing Ishita down .. no this was about asserting to Ashok .. she still had the trump card ... hence she plays a game where she thinks she will win very easily ...

But once again in a battle to prove herself & her hold , what she did was ALIENATE ASHOK ... she made a dish of RAMAN's liking .. she completely ignored ASHOK's tastes ... what's more she brought Ashok in the orbit of MIHIKA the woman who was ear marked to be her replacement ...

Her focus was once again SELF ... she wanted to show she had the SAME POWER the same BARGAINING CHIP ... But to show that she had to loosen the string by by which she held ASHOK ...

Raman gently' informs her ... ur balak does not eat palak ... feed him something .. he is eating crumbs ...

He tells her ... Focus on ASHOK ... He is getting crumbs of ur attention .. cause your attention is URSELF ... if u keep the focus on SELF .. what u will be left with is CRUMBS ...

OBSESSION ... & the OBSESSED ...

This will be the parallel track which will run thru on YHM constantly ... Shagun first & this will be followed by Param ... to soon to talk about Param & what his obsession is .. but will soon do an indepth on that the moment I see that track opening up ...

Was wanting to talk about .. Shagun & her self Obsession for a long time .. have flirted with this topic on numerous posts .. this woman .. this character fascinates me .. she has amazing layers ... HER FOCUS on herself is INCREDIBLY FULL ...

Time & Time again I have said this .. this is a story of Raman Ishita but the game changer in the tale are Shagun & Ruhi .. but its Shagun who happens to be in the centre of it all ... The facet which makes this tale very interesting

If in one side of the story its about .. PAL PAL BADHE YEH HAI MOHABBATEIN .. on the other end .. a woman's self absoption with her self .. will bring nothing but .. PAL PAL BADHE YEH HAI DOORIYA .. from every one who ever deigned to love her ...

This story is about Greener pastures ...

Raman & his green pasture .. a life he won after a life he lost ...

Ishita & her green pasture ... a identity she won after an identity she lost ...

Shagun & her green pasture ... a man she won after the real man she lost

I have always maintained .. one doesn't have to really look & speculate on the future track by thinking' up scenarios .. whatever is transpiring in the serial or whatever will transpire in the episode will be shown to us & subtly hinted at in the episode itself .. all we need to do is hunt for them ...

What makes this TRACK one worth watching out for ...

There are 2 mega tracks which are following now .. the Mohabbatein & the Dooriya ... these 2 as off now are working independent of each other ... but they will have to converge ...

It would be fun to see this couple move from "sirf ruhi ke liye" to ... HUMARI status ... would be nice to see them come out from behind the faade of CARE & move into the reality of LOVE ... But it would also be interesting to see as love blossoms between the 2 of them ... what challenges will they face to hold on to that love ...

It would be interesting to watch SHAGUN's struggle to hold on ... If a woman can consume sleeping pills & actually put her self in danger to ACHIEVE her goals ... what all DEVASTATION will she wreck in the lives of people around her ... to finally achieve her GOAL ...

As I end this post ... I know I have a question in my mind ..which is probably echoing in yours as well ... WILL SHAGUN WIN at the end of this ... What price will Raman & Ishita Bhalla have to pay ? What will be the impact on the 2 kids Ruhi & Aditya ...

PS: these IMO are the main tracks .. u will have numerous sub tracks small ones which will go on inbetween to add to the masala & drama quotient ...bala for one .. param will make a reentry .. suraj & his shenanigans ... & the new entry MR. Abhimanyu Raghav ...

Oh oh ... but don't worry ... AAL IS WELL ... that's ENDS WELL

Have a written about the next track .. the yeh hai mohabbatein below .. do take a peep

YEH HAI MOHABBATEIN

Maine kaunse aapse"mohabbat" maangi ...

Aur ab lagta hai ki mujhe unse pya'...

Pahli baar aisa lag raha hia ke jaise koi baad aa raha hai ...

This is something I had written about the "mani" track .. before Mani stepped onto the scene ...

Personally i think jealousy track is playing to galleries Aani .. a couple of scenes here & there are ok .. i so hope its not a parallel track ... in a mature love story .. jealousy adds a spicy flavour yes .. but only upto a point .. specially in a married couple ... as long as it is comically handled i am fine & hope its not stretched

I don't think Mani has entered the Raman sub conscious as yet .. according to me .. he is more concerned about the car dialog exchange ... the actual PULL BACK that Ishita did .. i guess it set him back .. Mani IMO will be an issue when he makes an appearance ..

its in his dialog at the end of the scene (trip & fall) ... where he says something like blowing hot & cold ..

hence the blush tonite .. when she says Impressed .. the last time she said that it was with a "TOUCHED MY HEART" ... its the fact that he is managing to dent her reserves ...

Am glad to say .. this is exactly what we are getting ...

The jealousy track has been handled in a funny way ... but is this really the JEALOUSY track ... or is this simply the Pal Pal Badhe Yeh hai Mohabbatein

Yea Yea .. contrarion statements are my forte ...

A couple who have just changed equation quotient ... both are now in this relationship with 100% commitment ... its there behind the funny face of the Gas scene .. its there in the heavy sensually quoted sleep on the shoulder scene .. its there in that intense flirting in the Dum Charades scene ... This relation has changed ... & there's just one testimony to that statement ... The door to their room now remains CLOSED ... This couple wants Privacy .. This couple is now exploring Intimacy ...

In Fridays episode .. there were 2 very very important dialogs .. which actually underline the way this mini track will be played out ...

Problem toh ab maine tuhjhe dena chalu nahi kiya hai

I am also sorry .. I OVER REACTED ...

Both recited by our very own Raman Kumar Bhalla ...

I asked a question in the beginning of this post .. is this about Jealousy .. or is this something more ... so lets explore ...

Just a few days back .. Ishita was in a similar position .. she wept with the fact that her husband had a coloured past which she had no clue about . she wept to the fact that how much ever she wanted to not think of his past .. his past always stood up like a beacon rearing a red flag at her ...

She wept ... cause .. she had started to care deeply .. love this man .. but was holding it in .. cause she always felt he was a slave to his past ... Once again the ugly head of insecurity & past rejection made its presence felt in her life ... she had wept one other day 2 .. the day she told her mom ... "meri kismet mein mohabbat nahi hai"

That day Ishita tasted jealousy ...

For Ishita to let loose her emotions ... for Ishita to come unhinged on that balcony & claim ... MERE RAMAN & mujhe unse pya' ... Raman needed to deal with his past .. he needed to let go of his past .. not for himself .. BUT FOR ISHITA ...

The moment he does that ... she is free to declare at least to herself .. she is in LOVE with him ...

( did u not wonder how in one day this momentous journey was undertaken .. well she always loved him .. but what held her back was .. .her belief that he was holding on to his past)

CUT TO ...

The entry of Mani ... A trusted college friend ..

Raman figures out Mani is a man ... did u think that made him jealous ... NO .. what made him jealous was .. Mani supplied the GAS CYLINDER ... his wife did not expect help from him ... But she had called her friend for help ... Who delivered .. it was okay when he thot the person helping was a FEMALE ... But the moment he is told it's a man ... the UGLY green Monster makes his presence known ...

Similarly ... while it was about the joke in the morning it was okay ... he was simply miffed ... but what raised the ugly green monster was ... " my friend knows how to bring a smile on my face"

He follows her to her date ... note she asks him to accompany her .. but he refuses ... coz this was not about TRUST... ( the WRITER IS not recreating the Shaggy insecurity here at all .. so pls keep that in ur mind) .. He doesn't go with her .. but under the guise of Safety follows her ...

There he comes face to face with HIS ALTERNATE REALITY ... he mistakes Murli for Mani ... there's a moment of pause .. he smiles .. he cracks a few jokes .. & then he goes away secure in the knowledge ... All was well with his world ...

OFCOURSE PAUSE YAAR ...

I had done a post some weeks back on RAMAN wanting to be THE MAN in Ishita's eyes ... It started with when Ishita spoke about the perfect man & husband BALA in Raman's presence .

It was that day that Raman changed .. he transformed himself as the perfect husband .. the perfect man ...ala Ishita Bhalla ...

Raman carried only one baggage from his past ...(unbeknownst to Ishita) It was the baggage of REJECTION ... this NERDY guy was pushed to the way side by an ALPHA MALE .. he begged Ashok to let Shagun go .. he did not fight he begged ... & that was the biggest blow to him .. the biggest BLOW was to his EGO ...

He transformed himself into an alpha male ... The man to whom girls flock like bees to nectar ... That's the man who wanted to be THE MAN in the eyes of his wife .. ISHITA ...

Today yet again .. after slaying so many of her dragons .. the biggest one of HEALING HER OF REJECTION syndrome .. he still was not THE MAN ...

(atleast that's what he thot) this is the man who stands in his bedroom ... Cringing ... This is the man who fights on the phone with his wife ... After his territory was secure ... This was the man .. who gives advice to a nerdy young boy sitting in front of him who looked to him exactly like a young Raman Bhalla ...

He visibly at that moment reminded himself .. what happens to a man who is not ALPHA .. he is left begging ... & its this guy who is rude to his wife on the phone ... But deep inside this alpha male also resides ... HAPPY BHALLA .. the man who cares a bit to deeply .. the man who loves with all of himself ...this man struggled to come out ... when the words MOHABBAT were uttered ...

She says ... I DO NOT WANT MOHABBAT FROM U .. I HAVE NO EXPECTATIONS FROM U ... I DON'T ASK U FOR ANYTHING ...

Once again ownership was in question .. everytime he gave himself to her ... she kind of sent it back ... He pauses .. he is unable to speak ... DID SHE JUST THROW HIS LOVE BACK IN HIS FACE ...

The ugly head shows itself .. & he is back to his cutting barbs .. he just had to hurt ... coz he was very badly hurt ...

He was back to the being the nerdy Raman Bhalla who was left by the way side

His wife who he felt had started to love him .. today said she was not EXPECTING LOVE BACK FROM HIM ...

Moving on ...

He is in his bedroom .. now waiting for her call ... he wants to go to the party now .. he wants any excuse to be with her .. he looks lovingly at her pic ... he awaits her phone call ... & finally he thinks of going to pick her up ...

Lets pause here a bit ... this scene to me defines the depth of YHM ...

Once again I am going to ask the question which I asked in the beginning of this post ... Is this about jealousy ... or is this about the Mohabbatein ...

If this was simply about jealousy .. u would've got a chilled out Raman Bhalla sitting on his bed watching a cricket match as his wife made her appearance back home from the party ... Because clearly Mani/ Murli was not much of a threat to the uber sexy Mr. Bhalla ...

But what we got was a RAMAN BHALLA who came completely unhinged (just think back to Ishita's episode after sanjana tells her the pack of lies its very similar) ... He is very very disturbed cause he was rude to his wife ... he lovingly looks at her picture which is stored on the phone .. ( hmm yet again with ruhi .. the sirf ruhi ke liye once again showing its glimpse) ... he debates whether he should go to her . he takes a change of clothes out as well ..

This man was burning inside .. not with jealousy ... but with the need to be with the person who he had unwittingly hurt ... Today her every pain is felt by him ... the gas scene while funny .. actually shows the deep care he has for his wife ... His now reflex reaction to any pain that ISHITA has is FIRST TO REMOVE THE PAIN & then to give solace ...

That's major progress in this relation ... he may not come out & say sorry to her for this .. but he will make it up to her ... this man is the man who wants to run to his wife ... & just be with her soak in her presence ... this is the man who is as yet unaware ... how important has ISHITA BHALLA become to him .. he knows he cares .. he probably knows at some level he loves her as well .. but just how important she is to him .. he is as yet unaware ...

As this track progresses .. u will see the struggle of ALPHA MALE Raman with his alter personality ... NERDY NEEDY RAMAN BHALLA ... but to get HAPPY BHALLA .. Ishita will have to heal him ...

How will she heal him ... well to heal Ishita .. Raman just needed to show her .. she was a woman who was desirable .. who was utterly captivating .. who was someone who he wanted to ROMANCE ... she was LOVABLE ...

To heal Raman .. all Ishita will have to do .. is to KEEP HIM FIRST ... the day he wins the battle .. the OPEN DECLARATION OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE from ISHITA .. is the day RAMAN BHALLA will be healed .. & The Bhalla's will finally have their Happy back ...

Did u never wonder how Raman was jealous even of Ruhi .. cause Ruhi featured first in her affections ... had Raman heard every word that Ishita recited in the balcony .. he would know ... he did come first .. it was now .. Kissi ki patni .. Kissi ki maa ...

While on the surface what this looks like is jealousy ... the deeper layers .. IS HEALING the man ... for these 2 to start a relation both need to be healed of the scars of the past ... she needed to be desired .. he needed to be accepted

This story of Raman & Ishita started with Raman calling Ishita a gold digger .. a woman who ran after the biggest bidder ... would u not call it moving a full circle .. that she will select to be with the man .. who may not be the biggest bidder monetarily ... But will be the biggest contender for her love ... Raman Bhalla ... would this not be a true triumph of love ..

As the love track of YHM moves towards its climax ... prepare urself for some rib tickling comic scenes .. some very poignant scenes .. & yes a dramatic confession scene ...

GUD NITE ... Phew !!!! unbelievable .. 2 posts .. this is what happens on an empty stomach .. Gas pours out of me on to pages ...

Ruby wonderful posts, simply incredible.

To be honest my reply came to me almost completely last night but I was a)too tired and sleepy to type and b) kinda in two minds about it too because I felt I am missing out on something, which is why I decided to sleep on it and boy was it the right thing to do.

You have mentioned insecurity as the theme of this post, as the binding thread that connects the two women in the life of Raman Bhalla, their common ground...but I think this thread also runs common between the man Raman and his rival/ex-mentor Ashok.

Since your first post is about Shagun and Ashok, I would also go with them first.

A woman who had it all in a way, a loving husband who adored her, a family where she reigned supreme, the bliss of motherhood twice over chose to walk out on it all - why? Because all of these combined couldn't give her the one thing she always longed for - luxury, comfort, the grander things in life.

Rem the shoe story Mihir narrated, it shows she comes from a very, very humble background where even the basic necessities of life were not met with - she had to run a race, suffer a fall, get injured and bleed before she attained those shoes for her brother. Now was that the love of a sister who wanted her brother to have something of his own or the first sign of a very determined Shagun coming to the fore who wanted things that she need not share with anyone, things for which she was willing to do anything.

When she married Raman, it must not have been definitely her goal but it was the best she could do, the best her situation could get her in life and so she settled for a nerd who took her brother in, encouraged her mother too but in all this she felt - she compromised. Raman could lay his heart at her feet but not the world, he could give her things she thought she may inspire in any man - desire, passion, love - with her beauty but not those things which could make her live like a queen.

Recently Mihika was shocked to learn she could even cook; to which Shagun replied she def can - in fact she cooked prior to her marriage and after it with Raman too and he loved her cooking. But in Ashok' home we have never even see her serve a glass of water to anyone - does it take a genius to figure out the difference here?

This woman found in Ashok the one man who could give her things she always longed for, things she felt she deserved and finally, finally Ashok was the ladder to her that she always sought - the life she always wanted to and was meant to live as per her.

Her poverty, her growing up in a home where they lived in what can be defined as a hand to mouth existence made her detest the lifestyle and aspire for the skies. Her marriage she thought might change the scales of fortune in her favor - but even that didn't help - how could it? She married Happy Bhalla - a man who is all heart - a man who is a nurturer, a giver by nature.

If Ishita is the personification of motherhood, he is fatherhood personified - is it any wonder they were meant to end up together then always?

Raman could do everything for her but NOT the one thing she wanted - give her those luxuries she aimed to achieve - why because Raman/Happy Bhalla was content.

Wondering what I am getting at here?

I am getting at the root of the beginning of this triangle; the beginning of the end for Raman and Shagun.

A nerdy, chilled out and much in love Raman Bhalla was Happy - on all levels - when he was invited to attend a ceremony with his then better half where his mentor won an award - an award of excellence, an award that represented victory, competence, achievement, success. The mentor then was a man who saw potential in his mentee, saw a special spark, an eager mind, a man who thinks on his feet and an able student and hence asked him to come over for the event.

The mentor though human was thus also prone to fallibility - he had one chink in his armor - the one dark spot then in his otherwise pristine white image - he was a narcissist and hence loved to be praised, to be appreciated, something his mentee never failed to do... something which made him give special attention to this mentee, groom him the best he can and could - because that mentor saw one thing which made him secure in handing over the tricks and tips to this mentee - his compliancy.

He knew Raman aka Happy Bhalla didn't have what it takes to go against him ever - for he worshipped him, could kiss the very ground he walked on.

It was a narcissist who thus asked Happy - why don't you win such awards? The response he got was something that shook the ground beneath his feet.

Happy replied to him just being able to watch this ceremony was an achievement, he is a happy man, a family man, a content man.

The mentor for all his worth was NOT any one of those things - he wasn't happy, didn't have a family - he wasn't content.

There in were laid the roots of this destruction and warfare.

Because the cunning mentor noticed the one thing that Happy failed to do - the way his wife held onto that trophy, how she could not stop admiring it, how that brought a sparkle, a shine in her eyes.

He found the one way by which he could take away those things that Happy Bhalla had which he didn't - he found a woman who had ambition, contrary to the man who was laidback and content in his life.

Is it any wonder then that he chose to woo her, seduce her and use her to destroy Happy Bhalla?

What the mentor didn't expect was the rise of RKB in the process - the emergence of the phoenix from the ashes of Happy Bhalla.

It was thus a given that RKB thus should and would credit his success to the woman who by then was his ex-wife. His words that behind every successful man is a woman - that hand could be the one that held yours or left yours, in my case it left mine but then again it led me to realize my own potential.

The brilliance the beauty of this show' writing is - that herein was the first time that the troupe of four was assembled under the same roof - the four main players on this dais.

The newest player, the one who was yet to come into the main league - who could and would break this triangle - in Bala' words - was in the background - yes, Ishita. She was a mere guest who had come then as the would-be fiance of a pawn, an extra...it was her first brush with this trio - where she learned the bonds, the links connecting them.

She got a glimpse into their lives, their equations but, BUT she remained in the background, unknown, unnoticed until the game changer stepped in - Ruhi.

The child locked alone in a room, crying and scared who went in search for her mother.

The cry of that child was heard by Ishita, the cry for a mother...

She managed to get the child out of the room, brought her to smile but then came the man who misunderstood her, who fought with her and then humiliated her.

She left quietly with tears in her eyes.

That was also the day that Ashok gave a ring to Shagun - to gain the upper hand, to demonstrate he is still a winner. That no matter what RKB achieves he is a loser, because the woman who he loved, who should have been at his side, in his arms was in the arms of another man.

Raman once again became a vital component, a step towards Shagun' desired accomplishment... as on the heels of his victory came the moment where she conquered yet another battle. She accomplished herself as the fiance of Ashok Khanna.

The pattern continued to hold true even when the minor player came into the main league - despite the best attempts to thwart from that happening, as Ishita Iyer became Ishita Bhalla.

When Raman danced with his newlywed wife, to show off to Shagun he has moved on to greener pastures he was once again pulled back in his past by the one chink in his armor - his son. He who had pushed and pulled his wife into dancing with him stormed at her for no fault of hers. However, he understood and acknowledged his folly when he listened to the little voice that he so far always neglected - he heard his daughter - her fears, her concerns and even her admittance that it was upon her insistence that her Ishimaa came to the event as she wanted to be with her Papa. Buddhu Papa got the first lesson he needed when he heard his daughter say - he can't expect this from his daughter' Ishimaa - that she would not and should react to his unreasonable anger, he had to understand he erred and he had to rectify his mistakes.

For a son he cannot overlook a daughter.

He started his journey when he got his wife a gift because his daughter said so...he acknowledged her as a dentist, as a professional but no more than that hence the gift of a toothbrush, practical and with no sentiments attached - though she found humor in it.

What came next however was the turning point of their journey - the first one when he made her bow down against his son - the restaurant apology - what though no one saw coming again was the game changer' stance - Ruhi who stood by her Ishimaa and thus against everyone else - her biological family as a whole.

This was the wake-up call for Raman Bhalla to stop letting those who he knows mean him only harm to have that power over him - cause in order to destroy him they don't mind the collateral damage that comes with it. A power hungry woman had already ruined one of his children he couldn't let her ruin the second one, the child who was at last emerging from her shell, the child he realized is the one person he loves the most.

For Adi he could bend over, but for Ruhi - he could willingly lay down his life... Adi to me always has signified the weaker aspect of Raman Bhalla, his happy days as he himself has said as he was born during good times. Ruhi came when love had gone from his marriage and his life - the phase which actually fortified him...is it any wonder she is his strength and he only woke up to this realization when she was gone?

In hurting the woman who now became Ishimaa to his Ruhi, he hurt his child and realized the gravity of his error and what it could lead too - how his weakness was weakening him in all aspects of his life and thus began the journey of Raman Bhalla husband to Ishita Bhalla.

The blow that Shagun thought was her victory actually was the biggest blow to Raman' conscious which woke him up and made him realize his responsibility towards Ishita as his wife, her significance, the importance of her respect.

He once again began surfacing in very, very flimsy ways as Happy - as all he wanted was to please his daughter- but to do that he had to please the woman, thereby get to know her as a person despite his plans to stay away from her.

This incident made Raman realize he cannot take Ishita for granted anymore thus loosening Shagun' grip on him - the first knot unraveling...slow and steady with more incidents these knots came looser even still - when he saw dark vs. light, when he talked to her over a phone till late at night in front of his ex which rattled her.

Shagun saw she was losing, she was becoming inconsequential to Raman and in turn to Ashok when fate gave her a golden chance on a platter - she took the onus of an accident upon herself for the world to know. An accident her son did so as to keep Raman on a leash, to prove she reigns supreme, to bring to knees the one man for whom she chose to even give up her identity -to ensure that he gives her one now, throwing it in his face that he can't order her as she isn't his wife.

What ultimately happened though was life coming a circle as the same son who was her pawn against Raman became the reason Raman realized his huge, huge error this time and knew his redemption could be only at the hands of one woman. He turned to Ishita, asked her to be his strength and gained victory over the weakened father for the betterment of his own son.

Shagun lost her prominence in Raman' life as Adi' mom too - in his heart now that placed belonged to Ishita, the woman who righted the wrongs, who chose to punish his son for his error but also forgave him in her own way.

He knew his children, he were no longer alone - they had a rock to support em in the name of Ishita Raman Bhalla.

And therein began Shagun' downfall completely as in losing that position in Raman' mind she lost her value, her prominence in Ashok' completely. Now she only became a disposable woman who he is seeking a chance to dump and for that too he is choosing the illusion of the blinding Sun - Suraj... something which illuminates but also whose light can be so blinding you sometimes miss what's happening right in front of your eyes. You only see what you can, the sun hides as much as it reveals at times when its light is all that gains your attention as is happening to Shagun. In seeing Suraj' plans against her she is being completely blind to the man who is at the helm of things here in reality - Ashok and in being blinded to his motives she is being blind to even her own acts and their repercussions.

Raman recently called her a bechari, a desperate woman - cos from where he stands today he sees in trying to ruin him, she has ruined herself, in leaving him in reality she has walked down a path where she is gonna be abandoned.

He extended the humanity that made him ask Mihir to forgive her for his son that day rather than the mother of his children, cos that in his heart of hearts is now Ishita.

The next turning point in this woman' life would be when she finally faces the truth hidden in the shadows as of now when her focus finally shifts from the blinding Sun and the illusion that she still is in control of things.

IshRa

I am loving the journey of this couple especially this phase of their life - a phase of realization, acceptance, admittance and confession.

As I wrote in your previous post they have established all the major aspects that are warranted in a couple' life except one - of passion, desire, attraction, love - in a word - Romance.

The realization of the missing component of their marriage - the last brick needed to cement this relationship had to come from the one woman who in trying to target them has always brought them closer than before.

He learned his wife thinks he is an unromantic, she felt her husband does not desire her as a woman.

The ice needed to be broken - things needed to change and so he had to step up and ask her if she would dance with him in the middle of the rain, on a road - would she give him a chance to prove himself.

The man who always kept on accusing her by saying she looks for excuses to touch him always realized the reason they are apart still is because - he kept her at an arm' length... and so the first move he did when she stepped up for that dance was to take her in his arms, to remove that distance, eliminate it completely.

He touched her without any hesitation as she belonged to him, caressed her in ways that showed how he belongs to her, longs for her, aches for her...and from thereon you see how he has never shied away from her touches or from touching her except once - when he rubbed the balm on her and realized he cant cross a line yet as they aren't there still.

And he got a glimpse of what he longed to see, wanted to feel when she fought with him like a wife, acted like when as she laid her ownership over him when she assumed he had another skeleton in the closet - that she had an even smaller share of him than she already felt she had. No wonder he teased her, riled her up to get her to admit what was in her heart, but of course that was yet to happen and so he chose to let her walk away sensing her need for time, for space still when he cornered her in their bedroom... But now he couldn't afford to delay things now, not when they finally were opening up this avenue of their relationship and hence pestered her, teased her, acted as if he is asleep to get close to her and when still he saw hesitance from her end when he volunteered his shoulder for her to sleep on he told her one day you would come to me with this and say it on your own...

What he didn't count in was the factor that would next step in their lives and shake him completely - Mani.

Abhi aage jahaan aur bhi hai, abhi ishq ke imtehaan aur bhi hai

Mani - Raman' Shani

A man who suddenly emerged one day out of the blue and he sees his wife smiles because of him, she shares minor issues she is facing with him, she considers him the epitome of perfection - says he is lovable.

He sees his wife deck up then to meet this man again, she asks him to accompany her and he declines only to follow her not because he doubts her character but because he HAD to see who this Mani is, the man who his wife couldn't stop gushing about.

He sees a decoy, a shadow of his former self and makes comments as to how he had no reason to worry - this man is nothing compared to him, he leaves with the assurance that he has no reason whatsoever to fret.

Only things take a turn when she calls him up and asks him to join for a party - he refuses and she says kaunsi badi cheeze maangi hai koi mohabbat toh nahi maangi na? chhoti chhoti cheezein maang rahi hoon and he, he comes to a halt, a pause literally and metaphorically - he stops fidgeting.

I have to say the dialogue writer needs to take a bow for these words - for a woman that he once loved the biggest things in the world mattered were luxury and riches...today another woman brought in the word MOHABBAT back in his life...and called it the BIGGEST thing, and in the same line said she isn't asking it of him, not expecting it of him too... he disconnects the call saying if you aren't asking anything why are you expecting things from me - he wants her to ask things of him, to expect things from him - as his words were main kaunsa mohabbat baatne baitha hoon... as if I am awaiting here to just love someone, he sees a shadow of his former self in his employee and says girls don't pick guys like you, and I was like you all in the same scene... the rejected happy bhalla makes an appearance.

Contrary to belief that it is RKB who holds back Raman, it is Happy who does it - fearing rejection, ridicule and heartbreak - the assurance that guys like him can't be loved making him shackle Raman.

And while it is Ishita who can heal Happy, it would be Mani who would make RKB - the winner, the go-getter step up finally to pursue the one woman who deserves to be wooed by him - Ishita Raman Bhalla.

Mani, Ishita' second perfect man - the candidate for the gentleman with the most polite manners who treats her like a princess, the man who is the exact opposite of RKB and yet... yet alike him in stature and influence, in fact superior.

It is why he is his client, the one who holds an authority to influence Raman...this man addressed as Shani by him.

Now I have to say brilliant, brilliant move by the writers here - I wondered why is he Mani and not Abhi as is always the shortened form of Abhimanyu - but of course because he had to be Shani - not only to establish this comedy of capers but his dual identity.

Shani as in Saturn in astrology is considered to be the planet of justice and deliverance- people fear him, but what most dont know or understand is Shani rewards as much as he can punish - it only sees your deeds and nothing else when doing so... when it rewards you, it is because you deserve those things for your good deeds...when it punishes you it is because you asked for it - but Shani' biggest aspect is by his judgement he reforms you - he redeems you, he humbles you.

And as much as Happy needs healing, RKB needs humbling cos when the twain shall reform and meet - Ishita would no longer address anyone else as the perfect man or even if she does - he shall rank below her husband Raman, the Happy Bhalla in him making sure he is always sensitive to his wife' needs, the one who knows how to love and romance... as RKB does what he does best - he makes her laugh, he protects her, he stands by her side even as he keeps stepping on her toes as Raavan Kumar ensuring they never have a dull moment in their lives 😳

Phew Wow what a long long post. 😳

Loved ur title n also green is Ishus favourite colour it depicts growth, prosperity and jealousy (green with envy)

All of us in life strive for growth no matter in what condition we are in at that given point of Time. Ishra wanted to grow in Love and Shagun wanted to grow in Status.

She always uses the word Social status Ironic for a lady who broke her image of a good wife in front of the whole society and spent life with"paraya mard" as the society terms for such a relationship.

šŸ˜† She surely is the most confused soul in YHM. She has lots of desires but has no direction in achieving those.

Actually Ashok was engaged to her before Raman won the CEO of the year award. The moment Ashok saw Raman winning something that he had a claim on he just lost it n that was the moment that he decided to dump Shagun.

Ashok stayed with this woman for 6 years n it looks to me that he was faithful to her. If he had philandering ways then he wud have done so way back. Raman in a way thanked Ashok for removing Apshagun from his life for his achievements (CEO award). Thats where he must have thought of not marrying Shagun n using her to get back on Raman.

So he went on to hurt Raman by taking Ruhi away from him. Shagun was never interested in Ruhi but she put up wid Ashok thinking that if things fall in place they will get married. Unfortunately that didnt happen. If Ruhi might have gone to Shagun then Ashok might have married her at that point f time.

Then came the land deal, n then there were losses to him one after other in his business coz of Raman.

Meanwhile Shagun started feeling insecured about her position in Ashoks life n she knew only thing Ashok is obssessed is Raman so she started working towards seeking Ramans Attention. Holi party, Adi Birthday, Mihir Engagement, Adi accident case etc.

She in fact yelled at Ashok ki either marry me or forget about me trying reverse psychology.

N ultimately she got what she wanted.
But she forgot as u rightly pointed out that in all this mess she is moving away from Ashok n giving him space to graze on greener pastures. I.e Mihika.

But the moment Suraj entered he started finding faults with her n proving her unworthy of Ashok. Hence to prover her loyalties she gave Ashok that file f Raman choosing her over Ruhi. But unfortunatelty she lost in that too.

In palak paneer scene she again did same tried reverse smethods with Ashok to show that she is still desirable to Raman. It failed bigtime.

N u r right in Raman pointing out to her that apne aashiq ko sambhalo.
Basically what Ashok is doing now is again trying to win over Mihika to create problems in Ramans life. He knows it will be difficult to trap Ishu whom Raman desires the most at the moment. So he is laying a trap (15lacs dress fiasco) to ruin Mihikas life. I guess he eill not b marrying her but wud b doing something damaging for sure. Ruining Mihika's life will b double bonus for her Raman will b affected coz f Mihikas problems n then Mihir will b affected which indirectly will again affect Raman.

I hope shagun does something smart to get back to Ashok. I wud b happy if Cvs show her blackmailing Ashok over some business deal n him ending up marrying her. 😳 i really have high hopes from her.

***********************************************************************************

Post 2 mohabbatein. 😳

Loved ur analysis. I guess i loved todays episode so much, It was the best for me in terms of acting direction plot everything. šŸ˜‰

Ya u r right This track is about Raman's realization of loce for Ishta.

He tells his office junior Ladkiyan Nerdy boys ko nahi smart guys like me ko choose karti Hai. Point to ponder here is If he is such an alpha male n he has seen the so called Mani not so good looking n yet his wife is hanging out with him, is spending time with Mani, knows his wife's smallest of concerns (gas cylinder) n helps her out with it, his wife laughs n enjoys this guy's jokes although RKB's jokes r the best ones filled with wit and good humour.

So he is thinking what is it that this guy has been able to understand his wife (or subconciously the woman he likes) n he (i.e Raman) has not been able to reach that level in his wife's life?

This is also about growth of Character of Rkb. Is he going to b an alpha male all his life? Or is he going to adopt a middle path of sensitivity n machoness to win over people he loves. He became the dad to Ruhi yesterday he taught her a good lesson, when he helped her in her problems in life. He understood Ruhi after she pronounced in front of the whole world I love u Papa, u r my most favourite person in this world. He always loved her irrespective of his behaviour towards her. He understood her problems, even Ishima didnt realize that there was some problem with Ruhi that needs to b sorted out. If only Ishra had atleast 1% os sense that Ruhi has 😳 it takes guts to tell the person who on ur face has rejected u n who never wanted u in their life that I love u unconditionally.

When he said to Ishu ek dinn tum khud aake woh baat mujhe bataogi. I thought cvs were readying us up for Confession from Ishu's side šŸ˜† I wud so love that.

How will he become a husband to Ishu is what we shall get to see in this track.
šŸ‘

This is also about Growth in Ishu, how she is going to give importance to Raman over Mani n how she will b sharing every detail of her life with Raman n not Mani.

Thats the reason it is
pal pal BADHE hai mohabbatein story of love growing on them

Beautiful post dear. U really give us an insight of what is going on in the makers heads. 😊 😳

Ruby- fab post as usual

Will start with Shagun and Ishita - the difference between them can stack libraries.

Yes, insecurity is a thread that's common to them. There's also a Choice that life offered both

One made a choice to put love for material above love itself. She traded a bond of love for material.

For the other Love is not a choice. It is not something to be traded off. She instead made the choice to get into a bond, just for love.

So, another thread that binds them is love.

For one it is about I, me, myself while for the other it is about just - pure giving.

A Narcissist Vs an Altruist, as you wrote. A human being Vs being human.

One is a woman that needs a man to satisfy her desires, while other desires to be the woman her man needs.

One is so blinded in love for material that she can't see the pain/confusion of her loved ones, be it her son, her husband or her brother.

She uses her son to self-assure her importance in the lives of the 2 men, her past which she doesn't want but can't let go because of her self-obsession and her present which she wants - to get an assured "Status" in the society

While Ishita uses love as eye openers. She shows Mihir and Raman the path to healing. She heals a child from neglect and a feeling of being unwanted. She heals every relationship that the former had wounded.

At the end, one was satisfied by getting a 5-carat ring, while the other for solidifying her trust in her husband and gaining the trust of her man in return and becoming his strength.

Both women - one is a noun and the other is a verb. One is all about skin and the other is all about soul.

Also, both lost. Lost the joy of motherhood - One biologically and without a choice while the other lost it because of her choice.

Both were rejected - one for not being able, biologically, to be a mother, and one for just not being a mother

While one was ready to use her son as a pawn to show her upper hand over her ex - to her boyfriend, the other fought like a tigress when her daughter was used as a pawn.

A clear difference when Shagun degrades Ishita in her converstation with Adi while Ishita ensures that Shagun doesn't fall in Ruhi's eyes.

Both mothers - one is a verb and one is a noun

Both had an attack on their self-respect. One fought for it, even left the house, only to return when her man asked her to come back, assuring he trusted her always.

The other gets satisfied by a glittering bracelet, the attack on her self-respect forgotten.

Do we need a clearer difference?

She tries to put down her ex's wife at every occasion, keeps comparing them but falls from grace every time. She knows that her ex has moved on. He is not interested in her anymore, but the narcissist in her cannot accept that.

The palak paneer episode was a revelation to her. Raman is not affected by her in anyway. No love, no hate. Only indifference, which is worse.

She tries to show her value in front of her boyfriend, who under the influence of his brother is not sure of the relationship anymore. Only to fall from grace again. This time in her boyfriend's eyes too as her pretentiousness came to the fore. She says," I have made it with love", only for her boyfriend to sarcastically comment "I know that! You didn't even care I have an allergy to palak"

So she is definitely going to find ways to hit back at Ashok and more importantly at Raman and Ishita, once her marriage plans go kaput. To what extent she will go- will be interesting.

She has used her children and her life as pawns before, that shows how vicious she can be. And a wounded animal is most dangerous.

----------------------

Now on Ishita and Raman

For me, theirs is one of the best love stories on screen. A slow yet steady growth. A heady mix of spices.

The current jealousy track is just one more spice in their lives. I too agree that it should be used only to push the relationship to the next phase and not a parallel track, else it will become bitter.

In the truth and dare game Raman says that Tho I didn't hear properly, I am sure Ruhi meant that Muthu means a lot more to her than she thought and she loves Muthu

Of course he meant about Ishita and her feelings for him, but I felt he told the truth, he didn't hear her monologue.

Her reactions regarding sanjana did prove to him that he meant a lot more to her.

He told her how jealousy inflamed her otherwise calm demeanor, he called it a feminine trait.

He touches her, holds her hand - indicates that he desires her, yet wants her to be comfortable with it as for her it's a first in terms of physical intimacy. He goads her to accept it. First in the room and then in the car. He realizes that she is attracted towards him physically also, and tries to tease her by sleeping on her shoulder. Assuring the attraction.

She thinks- Dil itna zor se kyu dhadak raha hai - jaise bahar aa jayega..

She hears her heart beat for him.. so beautifully shown.

But when she still doesn't spell it out, he steps back and says he'll wait for her.

But jealousy knows no gender. In comes Mani, her best friend.

At first he is not troubled that she had a nice time with a friend.

She had returned home the previous evening thoroughly enjoying herself that she didn't even want to fight with him, the small fights that he was enjoying. He didn't take it seriously then.

Trouble starts when he comes to know that the friend is a male - a man with more virtues than vice

So what is it in this man - who makes his wife smile, takes care of small things, probably understands her needs, who doesn't taunt her. She calls him best. Better than him? The question arises.

But she used to love his taunts. She herself told that. She likes the "Ravan" in him more. So why is he being compared?

He had been rejected once in life, for lack of looks, lack of money, lack of ambition. He has all now, but still someone else is making his wife smile.

He sees his wife getting decked up to meet her friend. Of course he is heckled, but cannot show it. Ego?

But he can't rest till he sees his nemesis. He follows her and sees her with a guy, who as per him is less in looks, seems lower in money and in ambition - a chusa.

Feels slightly reassured and heads home. But it still troubles him as he knows Ishita is not someone who runs after materialistic things. They don't matter to her. So what is it that this friend does that he may/does not?

His wife gives him the answer. She tells him to tame down his ego. Adds "Maine aapse choti choti cheezon maang rahi hun, koi badi mohabbat nahin maangi".

But wasn't that what he wanted her to ask him, what he wanted to give her?

But didn't she want that? So what does she want? Care, thoughtfulness. And is she wrong?

He has done a lot for her which she has acknowledged every time

He has changed for the good- for her, because of her - which again she has acknowledged time and again

So where is he going wrong? Where is he losing and why?

These questions are going to trouble him and also show him the way. He is definitely going to set it right, win her over, how- is going to be a delightful watch, am sure.

As for Ishita - Mani, I feel, has come at the right time. He has perfect qualities as per her, care-chivalry-thoughtfulness, but she is clear he is not her Raman, but yet she is unable to recognize and confess her true feelings for Raman.

Mani gently but firmly pointed out to her not to compare. That's a true friend. I believe, he will guide her to self-discovery.

Mani is only going to be the catalyst in this beautiful chemical reaction between husband and wife. A catalyst which will trigger and speed up the realization yet will keep the relationship of a true friend with Ishita without change.

A reaction which will heal both of them completely.

Brilliant post Ruby as always.
The way you analysed Shagun's character vs ishita's is thought provoking.
I read ur posts twice to understand better n see if i missed getting anything.

Thank you for taking time n posting ur analysis for us.
In one of ur replies u mentioned that instead of pondering about upcoming tracks if we focus on the epi definitely we will get the hints abt where this is all going.

Shagun is shallow n i think there r many ppl around us like her. Ishita to me is not so realistic. We dont find such pure souls around us. The reason why i called her is -- The way shagun used her to get back to her brother, the plan with sanjana n her mother, i wondered why they didnt show a ishita self talk abt analysing how shagun used her as a pawn. And now also she thinks that she should help her to get her Ashok. I am not trying to find logic in Indian soaps but trying to see how realistic YHM is. I feel Ishita's character progress is not shown here. In one of ur previous posts u mentioned that Ishita is a person who wakes up at night (or something) to help ppl - ruhis hospital, meeting param at night. She is a pure soul. I agree to that but what about the self respect. :))

Sorry my points are still noy in sync with Ishitas character. May be i am thinking too much hahaha
I should stop wondering n enjoy the cute moments :))

Thanks again for ur brilliant analysis. Found time now to unreserve n sorry for being late. I think i will watch YHM until u stop posting ur analysis :) because it makes me get a deeper understanding of the characters.

Ruby Darling take a bow! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘two deeply nuanced post...thought provoking too. I love everything you wrote but the quoted parts just stood out to me.
I loved your character study about Shagun...she is narcissism personified...and she also has this sense of entitlement to anything and anyone she fancies...add to that her insecurity. I love how you highlighted why being Mrs Ashok Khanna is so obsessive for her and how it stems from her insecurity and deep need for life in luxury. Kudos to you for the reference to each instance which underlined her desperation, her calculative moves towards attaining what she's obsessed with : being Mrs.Ashok Khanna. All those scenes made deeper sense now. I loved that insight!
I would just add this to what you wrote about her effort to hold onto Raman...that is also rooted in her narcissism and insecurity too...it made her feel special that even after 6 yrs of their marriage ending, Raman had not moved on ...was holding onto the past albeit negatively. It fed her need for attention to be 'someone'.

And for me the Palak Paneer scene was also symbolic to another scenario; of Raman moving on to the other side...to his own greener pastures.
Hope I make sense 😳

These parts blew me away! How you connected each little thing to get to the bigger picture of what this track is about. šŸ‘
It's definitely not just about jealousy...Jealousy is more of a transient state compared what's going on here. If it were just about jealousy I would have been surprised. As the thing that attracts me most about YHM, is the fact that under the surface level of all the craziness and sometimes disjointed episodes, lies a subtle track of continuity...the one about journey of two adults towards each other, with each other. It's about their trials and tribulations: to rediscover love, to embrace their feelings, to overcome their scorned past, to accept and acknowledge the second chance of love they got ...Its about those pals that make the story so nuanced..the little moments that subliminally tie everything together . It is a very human story of two matured adults, of their insecurities...of their attraction, of their little triumphs against odds... of their love.
I joined this forum only a few days back and this has been my most active day writing thanks to you! I usually love capturing the moments in an episode that move me...and express what they mean to me...but today because of your posts...I had to do a little bit of introspection about what you wrote...and delve deeper into the story of Raman and Ishita and their pal pal badti mohabbatein. Thank you.

And not that I want you to develop gastritis, but your gassy posts are pretty awesome.šŸ˜† keep them comingšŸ˜‰

Oh Man ! Such an insight Ruby !!

Not only Shagun and Ishita but the four main characters of YHM are insecure which includes Raman and Ashok in the list. The only difference is that ladies were seeding this insecurity from the path of start while the men were forced to sow the seed due to The only lady shagun.
Raman's baggage of past made him work like mad man , not to achieve laurels but to fill in insecurity of still falling short of Ashok in terms of everything. While with Ashok, its opposite. He never had doubts of oneself but Raman's growing power made him insecure of losing shagun to Raman because of him knowing shagun so well .
And then began the game of conquering insecurities. Ishita is the only one here who choose to bury it deep down and let the love of others take its place while the three were constantly in equilibrium of fulfilling/fueling their insecurities. Shagun made everyone cringe with her antics and honestly, she is not in love with Ashok, she just wants Ashok like a kid who demands for his object of choice, for even which he could lie down crying and Shagun is doing just the same. Ashok fulfilled her desire of becoming rich, of making into the elite society and living a life on her terms for herself. She is very well aware that if bychance she comes back to Raman, the life is not going to be hers like she wanted. As rightly said by you and Raman as he explained to Mihir, that she is holding him just to remain in the eyes of Ashok.
Ashok, well he confuses me. Sometimes he is insanely worried about Shagun's growing interest in Raman and sometime he gives a damn. He is surely someone who doesnt have the brain of his own. Suraj is ruling him now and very clearly its showing effects. He is able to look past Shagun and lands his eyes on Mihika. Not because it will make Shagun jealous but it will have the effect of ruining Raman's peace of mind as Raman's peace lies in Ishita.
And Raman, well he has grown as a character. From the nerdy boy to CEO and somehow back to nerdy boy. Full circle.
And when this vicious circle breaks, there will be no looking back and Ishita will the one to do that.
Yesterday, admist everything his conversation with Murli had deeper meaning to perceive. "Tumhare jaise ladke jinhe pasand karte hain, hum jaise log unhe le jaate hain." And then he slowed down. Was he becoming another Ashok in murli's life or will he consider himself becoming Murli when he gets to know the real Mani. Always, he has to go through this vicious circle. But as this track ends I hope Ishita could instill in Raman the feeling of security that it brings out Happy Bhalla back, not confined to walls of his room but to the world outside.

And then comes Ishita. My favourite character of the show. She has layers of insecurity- insecurity for not able to conceive, insecurity due to Raman's past, insecurity of her looking average in front of Shagun, insecurity due to delicate relationship with Raman.
She enjoys Raman's attention while his disinterest resurfaces the turmoil of her heart. Like yesterday, she was all chirpy in the morning not because of receiving text from Mani but because she could spot the similar situation of Raman as was hers due to Sanjana. While as sunset , she again laid her heart open "Aapse mohabbat toh nai maangi" This line says everything about her while the same line opened doors of restlessness in Raman. Like you said.

Shagun and Ishita are gonna go parallel because the person both eye for is same. One does for herself while other for love.
It is gonna be interesting to see the pandara box opening in the furture.

Ok, I blabbered a lot. Hopefully did make sense :)
Sorry for th errors, typing via phne.

Amazing post Ruby :)
