Loving the interesting discussion happening here and couldn't resist butting in.😛
First - Ashok - Am not sure he is a complete bully- a bully is a coward by heart, A Dudley. Sorry to disagree, just my POV😕.
I feel he is a person mean at heart. He is not a complete coward as he has achieved materialistic success in life, with obvious underhand means.
He too is self-obsessed in his own way.
In a way he is Shagun.
He feeds off her and she off him.
And probably that's the reason they are not able to live together, as one day you know there is nothing left there to leech.
There is no love. There is only selfishness. Both were after materialistic things, over what someone else had and don't care a damn on who they hurt on the way to get it.
What may vary between them is the degree of the traits.
But both are still the same- inside and outside
While Raman and Ishita - well they Appear to be different but are the same at the core. Raman, as you perfectly put it Ruby, wants to be Simply Complicated.
But that's a fence he has built around him which has made him an opposite of what he is.
Am sure, he never taunted Shagun when he was married to her, was chivalrous, caring, thoughtful - He was Mani.
Rejection has made him appear what he is today. But he cant be that way forever, esp when he has a wife like Ishita.
He wont be Mani Again, and that's good as Ishita wouldn't want that, else she would have married Mani right? Mani is a friend, a guide. not a person who makes her heart beat.
Raman will be the exact mix of sweet and spice in her life.
There were some posts on why Ishita doesn't unconditionally love Raman, should he be lovable only if he changes and becomes like her
But she does love him unconditionally, for what he actually is and not what he appears to be.
Isn't that true Love - love which sees what the other's cant, what you actually are?
Also, if love doesn't mellow a man, what does? If love doesn't bring out the best of a person, what does?
Also Love just doesn't point out your flaws but stands with you while you correct them
That brings Subbu - You nailed it Aani by saying -the strength to be there for her when she needed him the most. He wasn't there. He was a coward who ran away at the first sign of trouble.
There I go rambling again..😛
