Garg was rescued by Singapore police and rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. At the time of his death, Garg was scheduled to perform at the North East Festival in Singapore. His demise has sent shockwaves across India, with fans, colleagues, and leaders paying tribute to his legacy.
Zubeen’s body arrives at Guwahati

Zubeen Garg's body arrived at Guwahati Airport on Air India flight XI 1197 around six am. His wife, Garima Saikia, and others were present to receive the remains, with Saikia overcome with emotion upon seeing the coffin. Airport staff and police officers were visibly moved as the body was transported to his home in a flower-adorned ambulance prepared by the government. Thousands of fans had stayed overnight at the airport, and the body will be kept at the Sarusajai Stadium for public tributes.
Tributes from fans
Following his arrival from Delhi, Zubeen Garg's body was transported to his home, where a multitude of fans gathered to pay their final respects. Fans and admirers will have the opportunity to offer their final respects to the late singer Zubeen Garg at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (Sarusajai Stadium) in Guwahati on Sunday, as announced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on X (formerly Twitter).
CM informs fans about arrangements
The Chief Minister's post also detailed that public viewing will be permitted from 9 am to 7 pm, with special arrangements to manage the anticipated large crowds. The message read:"The Government of Assam, with deep sorrow, informs that the mortal remains of Shri Zubeen Garg, an artist larger than life, a cultural icon, filmmaker, and the eternal heartthrob of millions, will be kept at Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex (Sarusajai Stadium) tomorrow, September 21, from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, for friends, followers, and admirers to pay their last respects."
The post further added: "All are requested to extend their cooperation in ensuring that the final journey of Assam's beloved son is conducted with dignity and becomes a farewell to be remembered for all time."
