Reena Kapoor in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki

Pyjama party!

Ranjib Mazumder

Reena Kapoor aka Pari of Who Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki was embarrassed recently. She was caught on the wrong foot as her neighbors spotted her in a kurta and pyjama, celebrating karva chauth. Reena recalls the incident, "This was my second karva chauth. My husband has been tired of watching me in the traditional lehangas and saris in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki. Whenever he is at home he asks me to be myself and stop behaving like Pari. This time, my mother was not around and there was no one to guide me with the karva chauth rituals. When my husband came back home, he was amazed to find me fasting for him. I confessed to him about my ignorance about the rituals. He insisted that I shouldn't bother to wear a traditional outfit. So, there I was in my pyjamas and my husband, in his shorts. We decided to go on the terrace for the moon ritual. We went up late to avoid public gaze. But we were shocked to find many couples still on the terrace. Most of the men were wearing sherwanis while the women were either in saris or lehangas. We were terribly embarrassed and tried to hide. We went through the ritual quickly and left the place as soon as possible."

Looks like there's loads of drama that will unfold in the coming days in Sahara One's TRP raker Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki. Coming from the Rajshris stable, the show which has recently completed more than 200 episodes had recently gone in for a leap. Now, once again looks like, the producers of the show are regularly innovating to sustain viewer interest.
So,what's happening next on the show? Going by the current buzz and the hoardings of Woh all over the city which say just forty days ka Intezaar. Somehow, the forty days mystery reminds us of the Saat Phere campaign which talked about the Chaabi Ka Raaj

Poonam..all ready for track change!

Our sources reveal that the plot will delve deeper further in the direction of a love triangle, coupled with a rather mystery element. It seems recently a Karva Chauth sequence has been shot in which Pari as well as Sanjana fast for Soumya. As the love triangle between the two women for the same man is built up the mystery element secret which will be revealed after forty days.

We called up Poonam Joshi (Mahek from Kahiin toh Hoga) who has just entered the show. Poonam, who plays Aamir Ali's love interest in the show, was slightly reluctant to reveal the track.
On further probing, all she said was, "The storyline is moving in a rather interesting way and it's not a typical love triangle but conveys all what goes into intense relationships". On asking how is it working with Aamir Ali she says, "I am working with Aamir Ali for the first time and I have maximum scenes with him and it's fun to work with him I am enjoying working with Rajshri Productions.
For those uninitiated, as the story track goes, Pari played by Reena Kapoor is married to Soumya but Soumya is seeing Sanjana played by Poonam Joshi. Audience know Soumya is involved with Sanjana and even Pari knows that her husband meets the other woman regularly. But there's more to it than what meets the eye. Looks like there's a secret and a story this whole episode.

So, will Sanjana become Soumya's Sajani? And what's the mystery which will change the storyline..

Torrid extra marital affair in Rajshri serial

'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki' brings in the 'Woh' (souten) element.

The age-old Rajshri productions which have always been known for their benchmark of family-values and harmonious marital bonding seem to be making a glaring exception this time.

Believe it or not, their current serial 'Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki' (Sahara One) has incorporated a 'silsila' sequence where Soumya (Aamir Ali) who is 'just married' to the charming Pari (Reena Kapoor) has a torrid extra-marital affair with sultry Sanjana (Poonam Joshi) on the sly. Incidentally, the female protagonist, Pari is currently going through this 40-days 'agni-pareeksha' after which she hopes things will be positively cool.

Wasn't this a shock-value of sorts for home-audiences who are used to watching decent family values that Rajshris has been known for over the past several decades? Were they jumping on the band-wagon of promiscuity to boost the TRPs ? Not surprisingly Kavita Barjatya, the chief of Rajshris TV network, is agitated at the charge. But she vehemently defends her serial and banner saying, "We are not glorifying adultery through our serial as Soumya's character is not 'two-timing' his wife, Yes, he is having a passionate affair with 'souten' Sanjana who has always been his original girlfriend even before his wedlock."

"For Soumya, his alliance with Pari is a mere marriage of temporary convenience to circumvent destiny And its more of a 'nuptial trap' for the bride. She encounters discreet vibes that "my husband is 'disconnected' from me" when he plays truant with her even on the 'wedding night'. Although Pari is aware of Sanjana's existence, she presumes its his past," justifies Kavita. "Despite the villainish deviations that may occur, sanskaar, sanskriti and parampara shall continue to reign in all our ventures" she declares.

Reena Kapoor

I still remember the rocking time I had during last year's Navratri. I had gone to Nagpur.

Unfortunately, due to my hectic shooting schedule this time, I will not be able to do too many shows. I am going to Kohlapur and Kolkata for a couple of shows. That too after giving more than a month's advance notice to my scheduler!

TV vamp gets a taste of her own medicine

Small screen vamps are getting so sinister that in real life too people are getting intimidated by them. Kamya Punjabi who plays Sindoora in Dulhan and Reena Kapoor's evil mother–in–law in Wo Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki has talked about how people in real life relate to her being bad. Aanchal Dwivedi, who plays the very bad Kaveri in Saat Phere is another actress whose evil nature seems real.

Now Mrinal Deshraj, who plays an extremely negative character Shipra Arora in Balaji's Kahin To Hoga recently got a dose of her own medicine which she disperses on screen. While shopping at a mall in Andheri, Mrinal was surprised to find two women staring at her. They soon approached her and told her to stop being so bad to Kashish (Aamna Sharif) or else she would suffer for her sins in her next life.

"Well, I had a great laugh over that incident. These women were quite sweet when they told me to be nice, and they thought my face doesn't portray my evil mind. Well, as an actor I live for such compliments, and this just proves how realistic my acting is," says Mrinal.
Looks like Mrinal's acting is turning to be real and flawless too. Don't be surprised if Mrinal joins the league of extra ordinary vamps such as Kaveri, Jigyasa, Sindoora, Komolika, Mohini. (Sampurn)

Poonam opts for negative role

Snippets

Poonam Joshi, who shot to fame as Mahek of Balaji's Kahiin To Hoga, will now be seen in Rajshri Production's Woh Rahne Wali Mahlo Ki which airs on Sahara. She will enter the show as the love interest of Aamir Ali who gets married to Pari played by Reena Kapoor, the protagonist of the show.

"It's an interesting character which will definitely add value to my career portfolio. After Tumhari Disha and Kahiin To Hoga, this role will be a good change. I am playing a character of my age and will sport a Western look," says Poonam. Poonam who was last seen in the serial Tumhari Disha on Zee, was a Balaji discovery. Till date her biggest claim to fame was her role in Kahiin Toh Hoga.

She had walked out of the show by choice. Sources say that her character in Woh Rahne Wali Mahlo Ki will add spice to the show. She will create the suspense element and the character will turn negative and create trouble for Pari. Recently, it was shown that Pari had married Aamir Ali. Sources say that it will not turn out to be a love triangle.

Oh brother!

Aamir Ali
We know Aamir Ali has a roving eye for good-looking women. So we were pleasantly surprised to find that he has brotherly affections towards the fairer sex as well. Apparently, Aamir treats actress Bhumika Chawla like his younger sister.

"In fact, we have done some commercials together as well where she plays my sister. She's a really cute person and I admire her a lot," he tells us.

So does he have any sisters in the TV industry as well? "No! I don't want to play brother to anyone from the small screen."

Rani joins films

Reena Kapoor aka Rani in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, has bagged the lead role in a Bhojpuri film; she will now balance TV and film assignments

Reena Thapar Kapoor

Actress Reena Kapoor aka Rani in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki is not alone in the long list of television actors, aspiring to join the silver screen. The actress, who made her foray into films with Kundan Shah's Kya Kehna, didn't want to lose this golden opportunity. She will soon be seen playing the lead in a Bhojpuri film opposite Ravi Kishen, a popular Bhojpuri actor.

Apparently, Reena had a hard time convincing Kavita Barjatya, the producer of Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, before signing the film. "Kavita was worried about whether I would be able to give my dates for the show if I signed the film. I was in a dilemma and almost opted out of the film. But then I managed to convince her," says Reena.

Reena seem quite excited about her film. "I've turned down some good film offers in the past few months. I didn't want to do a film just for the heck of it. The role has to be substantial enough for me to sign on the dotted line. The yet-to-be-titled film is being directed by reputed filmmaker Mohan Prasad," she says. When asked whether she will have any problem balancing her television and film assignments, she assures, "I don't know as yet, but I'm sure I'll manage fine."

Meanwhile Kavita Barjatya says that she is not anticipating too many problems. "Reena has promised that she will plan her schedule in such a way that it won't affect the continuity of Woh Rehne Waali... If she does that, I won't have any problem," she says.

Both of us are short-tempered and we kept fighting over small issues'

Kamya Punjabi comes out of her shell to talk about her troubled marriage

Sapana Patil Poojary

posted by anishma24

Be it her personal or professional life, Kamya Punjabi has always tried to maintain a low profile. The actress however hit the headlines recently when it was reported that she was slapped by her husband Bunty Negi, a lights designer by profession.

Alhough she doesn't deny having marital discord, Kamya claims the reports are false. Kamya says, "I had a laugh over that report. But it affected my family members and friends, who got worried after reading the story. I was flooded with calls with people asking me what had actually happened. I got tired of giving explanations. It was highly embarrassing."

However Kamya admits that everything is not hunky dory between ber and her husband. "We do have problems, but then every relationship goes through ups and downs, doesn't it?"

After three-and-a-half years of courtship, Kamya and Bunty got married about two-and-a-half years ago. But problems started soon after...

"It is so difficult to explain. Both of us are short-tempered and we kept fighting over small issues. When we realised that things were not working, we decided to live separately. Earlier we lived in Kandivili. But now Bunty has shifted to his parent's house in Bandra. But we are still good friends and hold each other in good regard. We love each other. And even though we are living separately, we are still in touch. We have just decided to give our marriage a break," says Kamya.

Backward leap

Against all odds, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki plans to return to its original format

Subhash K Jha

Are soap addicts becoming progressively conservative in their outlook? Do they want old-world values to dominate their small-screen experience? Well, Rajshri's producer and creative head Kavita Barjatya has the answer. After taking the leap into the next generation, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Rajshri's TRP-booster on Sahara is having second thoughts.

The daily soap which single-handedly turned around the sagging fortunes of Sahara TV recently went for a generation leap where actress Reena Kapoor made a leap from the mother Rani's part to the daughter Pari's role.

But the viewers seem to favour the mother's ideology, forcing the soap to revert ideologically to the mother's character.

"It's true," says Kavita, "Our viewers seem to favour the older generation and its values far more than those of the Gen X. We'll therefore revert to the format represented by the earlier generation."

Since the mother's character can't be brought back the daughter will be shown to behave more and more like her mother.

"In this way the viewers will stop missing the mother Rani's character. I'm afraid sanskar (social values) is very high on our list of dos and that's what viewers want to see in Rajshri films and soaps. And like it or not, a newly-married bahu grappling with kitchen politics in her sasural is a huge TRP-booster. Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki is going to follow a similar route," promises Kavita.

Incidentally the Rajshris' other soap Pyar Ke Do Naam-Ek Radha Ek Shyam on Star Plus is about to wrap up. "But Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki will continue as long as the viewers want it."
