Kamya Punjabi's public showdown with hubby!

Kamya Punjabi, who plays the vamp Sindhura in the TV serial Dulhann, seems to be having trouble in her married life. Atleast that's what her neighbours feel.
Kamya, who's been married for two-anda-half years now, lives in Kandivali with her husband. Recently the actor had a showdown with her husband outside the building where she lives. According to sources, Kamya was slapped by her husband when she reached home around 4 am that day.
The actor was dropped near her building gate by some people who accompanied her. Her husband who was waiting for her at the entrance got furious the moment he saw them. Apparently, he caught hold of the boys and started beating them up. The boys however managed to flee from the scene. Kamya tried to stop her husband, but he slapped her too and dragged her back home. Incidentally, the couple's fights is nothing new to the people staying around them. When BT contacted Kamya she refused to talk and said she doesn't want to comment on her marriage right now.

Someone other than their Nach Baliye chorographers is making Arjun Punjj and Gurdip Kohli dance. Arjun is being stalked on the phone by a restless female fan who calls herself Nivedita, who has been relentlessly calling him since the past ten days.

Arjun did not take it seriously, when the calls began. "I thought she was just a fan who would stop calling after one or two times, which is the normal case with every fan. But this girl is different. She is pushy and does not end the conversation until I disconnect the phone. She leaves me exasperated every time."

Wants to dance!

"Nivedita calls up even in the middle of the night. Earlier, she used to call up from the same number. I stopped responding to that number. Then, she smartly started calling up from different numbers. She says that she likes me from the days that I was part of Sanjivani. God knows who gave her my number," he says.

What does Nivedita want? She wants to dance with Arjun in Nach Baliye, saying she wishes she was in Gurdip's shoes. Arjun fumbles, "Well, she surely cannot do that. But she has expressed a desire to be a part of the audience. She can do that if she wants."

Wants to meet

Punjj's fiance Gurdip says she knows about Nivedita. "Arjun tells me everything. I am really not disturbed by Nivedita's constant calling. I trust my man completely and know that I hold the highest position in his life, even higher than his work."

But Gurdip is keen to meet Nivedita. "I definitely want to see this girl," she laughs. "So we hope that she does make it to the audience during one of the episodes."

However, the couple is relieved that Nivedita is not an obscene caller. "Earlier, I thought that I should report her numbers to the police, but so far, I haven't pressed the issue," says Arjun. Gurdip handles it more maturely. "I think that this is a stage through which every actor goes through," she concludes.

New innings

Arjun has signed a new show Saathi Re, where he plays the lead. His opening scene was shot at Worli Seaface a few days back. Sanjay Wadhwa is producing the show under the banner Sphere Origins. It is a daily, to be telecast on Star One. "It's a love triangle between a new girl Parakh, Amit Dalvi (of Jab Love Hua) and myself. Unlike Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, where I donned formals, I will be sporting casuals on this show."

Star One to beef up prime time with 'Saathi Re'

MUMBAI: Zee TV driver show Saath Phere producer Sphere Origins has now teamed up with Star One for a prime time soap. The serial Saathi Re will launch in October.

"We are planning to launch Saathi Re in October. The plan is to let Nach Baliye 2 (launching on 25 September) get settled and then follow the big launch with this soap. Saathi Re will be a daily soap," states Star India senior creative director Shailja Kejriwal.
Saathi Re is the story of Suman, an ideal Indian girl, who is torn between her family and love life. The soap stars Arjun Punjj, newcomer Parakh Madan, Neena Gupta, Kiran Karmarkar and Amir Dalvi doing the key roles.
"Just because the heroine has someone else also, other than her husband, in her life, it doesn't mean that Saathi Re is a tale of adultery. The subject has been handled in such a way that, it will appeal to the whole family," says Kejriwal.

Pari revisits Rani
Sahara One's Woh Rehnewalli Mehlon Ki seems to be going round in circles. After the entire leap drama which saw Arjun Punj opting out of the serial and Reena Kapoor transforming from Rani to Pari, now again Pari is becoming Rani. Confused? Well, so are we. Apparently, Pari gets married to Saumya Parashar (Aamir Ali) and there is a major tussle in her life. Pari's sufferings and struggle starts resembling that of Rani's, specially her woes after marriage...

Poonam ko mila sahara

Poonam Joshi walked out of Balaji's Kahiin Toh Hoga upsetting Ekta Kapoor to feature as Kamna in Tumhari Disha. But much to her chagrin, Tumhari Disha was yanked off air!

Now finally Poonam has found sahara in the SaharaOne daily Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki as Sanjana, the love interest of Soumya (Aamir Ali).

Although she is finally she is playing a character closer to her age and is not the heroine's sister for a change. Reminds us of the saying, 'Change is not always forward or upward.'

Rani or Pari? There seems to be an identity crisis for telly actress Reena Kapoor, the main protagonist of the SaharaOne daily, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki.
After the Rajshri production took a generation leap, Kapoor (who played Rani) preferred playing 'dead' rather than playing 'mother'. Later she agreed to essay the new character of Pari, who would feature as Rani's daughter. But now she is going back to being Rani on the show!
Public request
It is learnt that Kapoor has been inundated with requests from viewers that they preferred her as Rani. Wherever she goes, people tell her that they prefer Rani. So even though she now plays Pari, she will dress exactly like Rani.
Says Kapoor, "Whatever feedback I have received is that the audience is missing Rani. They could identify more with this character. They were hooked on to Rani's dilemmas with her husband and in-laws. After the generation leap, as Pari it was a college-going persona mostly in churidars and Indo-western wear. But now, even though I am Pari, I will go back to being Rani in her mannerisms and styling. This means that I will be shown just the way Rani dressed — in saris along with those numerous glass bangles."
Maa ki ladlee
The actress feels that going back to being like Rani will be easy as "Pari is after all Rani's daughter. It's natural for a daughter to emulate her mother. So though it is Pari on screen, the viewers will find that touch of Rani to her."
Incorporating this sudden change in the Kavita Barjatya- produced show has been facilitated by the fact that Pari has just been hitched to Saumya (Aamir Ali). "Anyway post Pari's marriage there was to be a change in her characterisation. So now Pari will be shown just the way Rani featured."
Rani preferred
The storyline will also have Pari take on the same issues that Rani faced on the home front. It is learnt that as most of the Woh Rehna Waali… viewers consists of women, and not youngsters, the youthful Pari was not digested too well. Instead, the mature, married Rani was preferred — the reason why her persona is back in the guise of Pari.
Incidentally, this is the latest in this SaharaOne soaps changing storyline after the leap that led to several actors making an exit (Arjun Punjj, Aanjjan Srivastava, Khyati Khandke) from the show.

Shop-till-you-drop!

Local grocery stores root for their favourite 'Nach Baliye' jodi.

Shoppers these days are getting a healthy dose of reel-screen drama. Local provisional stores are all geared up to promote jodis for 'Nach Baliye 2' (Star One). Ten grocery stores have put up posters of their local television celebs and are asking customers to root for them. Says Mahesh Patel from Modern Society Store in Malad, "We are going to vote for Gauri and Hiten. They are our local residents and shop from my store. We will be very proud if they win."

At Santacruz, the scene is also quite similar. The posters scream 'Gurdip aur Arjun — Santacruz ki shaan'. Incidentally, Vipul Provision Stores is close to Gurdip's house and are rooting for the couple. "I am so overwhelmed by the initiative taken by my local store. I have grown up in this area and it is good to see people supporting us," says Gurdip. She further adds, "We are the oldest residents in Santacruz and it is great to see people supporting Arjun and me."

The show which will be on air at the end of the month will have ten television personalities fighting it out on the dance floor.

Aamir Ali and Reena Kapoor go through the ordeal of taking 70-odd phere to shoot the wedding sequence in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki

Retakes are a common phenomenon; but imagine shooting a wedding scene that required the actors to take 70-odd pheras instead of the traditional seven.

Aamir Ali and Reena Kapoor (Saumya Parashar and Pari respectively) in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, were recently shooting for a wedding scene, when the smoke from the sacred wedding fire (havan) played spoilsport.

Aamir says, "We were shooting for the wedding scene at Aakraman studios at Goregaon. Everyone knows how lavish Rajshri weddings are. This one was grand too. We had to perform several wedding rituals.

This was followed by the traditional saat pheres. But there was a lot of smoke around. So much so that our eyes began watering, and we all were reduced to coughing and sneezing continuously. Thus, the shot had to be taken and retaken until all of us got our act together."

Reena adds, "There was so much smoke around that we just couldn't concentrate on the shot. I have smoke allergy, so I couldn't control my sneezing.

The funniest part was that I was supposed to look down and act coy shy. But the moment I bent my head, my nose would run. The unit guys mockingly told me that the next time I get married on the show, they will organise an electric burner for the ceremony."

Pari gets a new look
Unhappy with her look in Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki, Reena Kapoor asks for a make-over, and gets it It is commonplace for protagonists of a show to change their looks as their serials progress.

Actress Reena Kapoor who plays Pari in the serial Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki faced a similar experience. As her character Pari, at first a rich and pampered girl, turned into a poor man's dutiful wife, her appearance changed accordingly.

And recently, as the serial leaped by a few years, she had to look older. Thus, Reena's looks changed time and again. And at present she is seen wearing western clothes and sporting a curly hairdo in the show.

However, Reena was not pleased and requested for a change. "Post-leap, there was hardly any time to work on my looks. The story was executed without enough planning. When I used to dress as Pari, I would look in the mirror and say, "God! This is not what I want to look like!" says Reena.

"I spoke to people who are in charge of my grooming. But that didn't make any difference. Gradually, even I began to lose interest. I would wear whatever was given to me. But after a time, I felt that I should talk to the channel."

In the meantime, luckily for Reena, her producers had also started to work on a new look for her. "The producers spoke to the channel and worked out a new look for me. After much discussion, they finally decided that I should have straight long tresses that I sported before the leap. Now I am very happy with my straight jet black hair and simple salwars," says Reena.

After enjoying the ratings ride with Zee TV's Saat Phere, Sunjoy Wadhwa (Sphere Origin) is all busy readying his brand new show for Star One. And interestingly, the show has also been tentatively titled on the same lines - Saptapadi (seven vows of Hindu marriage). The channel has not yet zeroed down on a telecast date.

Arjun Punjj will play the lead on the show

Confirming the news exclusively to Tellychakkar.com Sunjoy Wadhwa, says, "The title of the show might just undergo changes. We have a beautiful starcast and its a wonderful concept, though at this stage I can't reveal much about the storyline." .

Arjun Punjj will be playing one of the lead protagonists on the show. Says Arjun, "Yes, I am doing the show. It's a clean family drama with a variety of characters in it. " The actor was last seen in Sahara One's Woh Rehne Wali Mehlon Ki and later opted out of the show as it was going in for a leap.

Along with Arjun, Aamir Dalvi will be playing the second lead on the show, who is currently playing the character of Lakhan in Jabb Love Hua on Zee.

A fresh face has been roped in to play the female lead, Parakh Madan.

Kiran will play father to the female lead Parakh Madan

Kiran Karmarkar will play husband to Indrani. They have two daughters, one being Parakh the other Pariva Pranati. Pariva was associated with Prithviraj Chauhan and is currently playing Alpa's (Rucha's sister) character in Bhabhi.

"I play the lead's sister who has a love angle with Arjun Punjj. There are many exciting situations on the show, but you have to wait and watch," says an elated Pariva.

Along with the above interesting lineup of actors, Neena Gupta will also form an important part of the show. Neena who is presently in Delhi confirmed that she will be doing Sunjoy's new show. Kiran was unavailable for comment.

We hope a fresh female face turns out to be lucky for this one, as it did for Saat Phere!
