I have never used Tampons. I find the process rather creepy.

They scare the sh*t out of me. I tried one a few months ago and I couldn't get it out me fast enough. The next few hours, I went completely paranoid trying check whether the applicator string is still in place or no. My worst fear? What if the string breaks? How the hell am I going to get the thing out? 😆

Oh Gosh! That does sound scary!
I wonder why Tampons are preferred to pads though?
Is it because the chances of staining is minimal? Or is to avoid the visibility of the contours of a pad when one wears extremely tight fitting clothes?
