Who has done this to her she asked…and any information about her? Ajay said we don’t know but will soon find out.
Our policemen will be here round the clock on guard so that those guys donot come back. Fine, but please let them maintain silence and let their presence not intimidate the others…thinking to herself hope that special officer do not come and rule again. Ajay smiled to himself.. She turned to him with a questioning look, when he said Sorry, Yes Sure.
Ajay gave instructions to the constables and asked them to watch out and also to let him know if they find any suspicious movement. He was telling DCP may come any time when the ward boy passed by oh god that K Inspector hmm.He remembered the way he just picked him by his collar when he was smoking inside the hospital corridor few months ago and warned him as he was visiting the Chief.
She walked to her recess room when there were two eyes watching her standing beside the reception….

Tanu was with her.. Tanu and Chakor did their MBBS together while Chakor went ahead with Cardiology, Tanu went ahead with Anasthesia and being the native of Kanpur she was in this hospital for the past three years.
Tanu was always in touch with Chakor though Chakor never called her on her own but always responded to her calls. Chakor was giving instructions to the staff about the medicines and the schedule. She wanted half hourly update of the girls BP and cardiac functions. Half Hourly?? asked the nurse, she just said yes with a stern face. Oh god this K Doctor within one month but keeps us on pins… and don’t know Chief also listens to her hmm. She hardly smiles but don’t know from where all her smile comes when with the patients. Uggh she went in.

He was sitting on his jeep bonette and was drinking chai.. with his eyes closed a few yards away from the place he found the girl. It was a cross road at the junction.
Ajay came by and said, Suraj the girl, her name is Asha is a second year college student and her parents are in Gonda village few Kms away from Kanpur. She stays in the girls hostel alongwith two other girls. She would go to her village over the weekends along with her other two friends a boy and a girl who were studying in a different college.. Being Friday she had gone to join her friends and proceed to the bus stop to go to their village. The three were planning to leave for their village.
Where do they stay he asked. The boy stays in the Gokul Lodge while the girl stays in her college hostel. Gokul Lodge??? Asked Suraj whose lodge is that. Ajay said it is that industrialist Kabir Nath the one who has many establishments and holds a respectable status in the society… Gokul Lodge is very famous and house many students and working bachelors. Hmm said Suraj. Where are the other two Suraj asked. May be they had gone to their village said Ajay. I doubt check it out Suraj said.
As a special officer Suraj was on another case on the lookout for a goonda who had escaped from Bareilly and he was informed that he was hiding in Kanpur. While looking for him Suraj saw few thugs chasing the girl and he turned his jeep chasing the thugs who ran into the by lane…. He got off the jeep and stopped running behind them when he heard the girl shout, realizing she was been hit he ran towards her to hold her as the knife had pierced her back and he carried her to his jeep. She was loosing her conscience but was speaking feebly and Suraj could hear the word powder. He alerted the control room and Ajay and team took charge but could not catch them.
He just closed his eyes for few minutes. He just jumped down and went ahead searching the roads which was cordoned by the police looking for clues. He just looked deeper and it was a mobile phone broken…. Must be the girls phone, she must have dropped it while being chased. He gave it to Ajay. The girls face came in his eyes, powder. He said Ajay what did she mean by powder?? . He got into the jeep to move when he stopped his engine and asked well that Dr.? Ajay briefed him.. No surname ?… and changed six locations?.. his brows lifted… interesting. Be alert and have an eye on the hospital he said. He drove… arrogant though saying to himself. Head justed his left hand band and his chain which had that special pendant that of the sword. The Sword of a Kshatriya, Khatri…
What’s the mystery behind Asha….He was thinking…..Unless she opens her mouth… and where are the other two? Six locations in four years and no surname… he shook his head why am I thinking of that arrogant doctor.

The day dawned..
Asha was in ICU onobservation. Her parameters were fine. Suraj was at the hospital checking her belongings which had her one torn footwear and her small gold chain and her earrings. He looked at the footwear and gave it back. He checked if the parents were informed when he was told that their house was locked. He went to the reception and asked for Dr. Chaand and saw a book beside with a bookmark in it. It was handmade out of a simple chart paper that of a sword. His brows shrunk. By the time he could give a thought, the Chief walked to him. Officer I just was briefed by Dr.Chakor. We will ensure the best care. But Chief, Suraj said, he walked with Suraj and said in a low tone voice… I know what you worry but she is not like Dr. Rawat… Thanks he said when he turned around to see the reception desk the book was not there.
He walked into the ICU when Chakor was there looking at the reports showing her back.
He coughed entering and said How is she ? touching the medicine trolley beside Asha.
Shhhh please and can you kindly use the sanitizer there before touching anything.. and if you have a cold or cough kindly refrain coming into the ICU. She was stern.
Oh sorry he said just that but I am fine. She turned and looked at him Oh Officer its you….. she told him in soft voice. She is ok but still not back to her sense, it may take some time…
Thanks but she is a very important witness he said. Witness for you Officer but patient for me she said.
He looked at her and just walked back when he hit at the door. Be careful she said. Are you ok she asked. I am fine ….. Well ! I am Suraj Khatri, DCP and special officer...he introduced himself … Oh ! I am Dr.Chakor she said. Dr. Chakor….. ???? he asked Yes Dr. Chakor she said very firmly. He walked out of the ICU into the corridor and she looked through the small see through in the door.
The ward boy was there in the corner of the ICU corridor when Suraj called him and asked are you the one attending to Asha. He said scared haan saab. Hmmm ok keep the constables informed of her state he said. Jee saab…not well ? why are you sweating in AC his voice was just too sharp… no saab..ham teek hai… Hmm… chal…with a very very rough face. Bach gayi K Inspector pucca.
Chakor was looking through the small peep through of the ICU and was thinking Khatri…. Hmmm scaring the wardboy.
It was late evening….
Chakor went to her room to refresh, when she saw a small packet beside her room door. She looked at it. Surprised herself, I don’t have anyone to send me anything. She looked around there was none… she looked at the packet it was a small box covered and sealed in a red cloth. She went inside her room. She opened and was astonished. It had a diamond necklace with two bundles of Rs. 2000/- notes. A typed note saying. Shut the girl’s mouth. She looked at it firmly. She took the box, she called the reception asking if anyone had asked for her and sent anything. The reception replied No Dr. Chakor none had come for you. A man was standing beside the reception. He took his phone and called… Its not working… lets do it ourselves…. He said.. She took the box and asked the reception for Ajay or Khatri’s No. She tried both their numbers but Suraj couldnot be reached while Ajay’s was ringing but no response. She kept the box inside her cupboard and locked it. She told about it to Tanu who was worried terribly. Chakor please lets shift this case to the other district hospital saying we dont have enough facility when Chakor firmly said... I don't fear... I cannot leave the girl as her life is in danger. Tanu called the Chief...

It was night….
The ICU was calm, both the constables were outside the main doors of the ICU at the end of the corridor as that was the only way to go and come out of the ICU.
The nurse had checked Asha’s parameters and went to the rest room and came back and sat on her chair. The ward boy came in saying the nurse is being called by another doctor. She told the ward boy to be there while she will come back immediately.
Chakor was walking down the corridor with many thoughts…it’s a day completed though Asha was clinically ok but she was not showing any sign of movement. She was expecting her to atleast roll her eyes if not any other development…..Ajay was calling her but her phone was on silent mode.
The ICU lights were flickering and she was wondering what was happening… she was walking towards the ICU….
Ashas eyes were slowly opening..she felt the whole room rotating circling around. she could not move but she could see blurringly someone rotating and moving towards her.
The ward boy was in the corner of the room with the small surgical knife in his hand was walking towards the bed.
He was close to the bed tube when Chakor tried opening the door…
It opened and she saw the wardboy back, what are you doing? Where is the nurse she asked.. the ward boy didnot answer when she saw another guy who was standing near the bathroom door pointing a gun at her…
The gun fired…… she yelled running to the bed…..

It was the mall….. he was holding Ajay at the knife point.
DCP drop your gun else I will kill your man…
You need not I will… he fired at Ajay…..
He dropped down dead with many bullets on him.
You are ruthless….. she screamed how can you shoot your man…. He came trusting you….
He caught hold of her hands…pulling her close. With stern face… Arrogant Lady can you just shut up and get into the jeep….. pushing her….
You are a Devil she shouted,tears were rolling.
He just drove his jeep… Stop else I will jump she said
Jump Jump Jump Now he shouted……she saw the sword pendent, she froze

It was a dark room, they both were tied together…. They were dazed….. not knowing what was happening to them.
We don’t know where our children are cried the parents at the police station.
The single footwear…………….
