Such a comforting update it was di! Filled with moments which would let us stop and feel better. We all somewhere connect a lot with Malhar from this story. Uska dard apna sa lagta hain. Aaj usko thodi normal life jeete dekhke mujhe bhi alag hi sukoon mila.
Even these stories have contributed to make me who I am today. So many days I have spent realising things about my own self while reading the stories.

Chapter 13
Kalyani was sitting on the sofa, covering her mouth and letting out a big yawn. She was so sleepy and decided to just take off from work.
Malhar came out dressed for work.
Kalyani let out a low whistle. "Wow…!!! Uniform me bade handsome lag rahe hain aap…"
"Mera beta toh hamesha se handsome hai …!! Aaj dikhai diya tumhe…? Nazar mat lagana…!!" Atul chuckled.
Malhar blushed and went ahead to wear his shoes.
"Are nashta karke pehno jhoote…", Atul said.
Only then Kalyani remembered, "Oh god .. !! Maine toh nashta banaya hi nahi…"
"Are toh Jao jaldi se kuch toh banao na Kalyani.…"
"Uh…rehne dijiye Baba…!! mujhe subah nashta khane ki aadat nahi hai… mere wajah se pareshan mat hoiye…!! aap log aaram se baadme bana lena…mujhe ab der bhi ho gayi…"
"Ye kya bakwaas aadat hai tumhari..!! Subah Ka nashta sabse important hota hai…"
Atul turned again to his daughter, "tum abhi tak yahin khadi ho…?"
"Baba please…abhi sach me time nahi hai…par aap fikar mat kijiye…Mai kuch mangake kha lunga…"
"Pakka…?"
"Haan…pakka ..!! Mai chalta hun…"
Kalyani went with him till the jeep.
"Dhyan se chalaiye…!! agar thoda sa bhi dard hua toh station se kisiko madad keliye bula lijiye…"
"Ok…!!", he smiled. "Bye..tum bhi khayal rakhna…thodi der so jao.. meri wajah se raat ki neend barbaad ho gayi tumhari…"
Kalyani giggled, "Agar aapne galti se ye baat kisi ke saamne bol di toh…"
Malhar frowned, "Toh…!! Kya hoga? Kuch galat kaha kya…? Sach hi toh bola..."
Kalyani laughed, "Log kuch aur hi soch lete…." She winked at him and ran back into the house.
Malhar couldn't make head or tail and he got into the jeep. While driving, he processed their conversation and finally it dawned on him.
Even though he was alone in the jeep, his cheeks reddened, "Itna bada tubelight hun mai…" he smiled but couldn't help wondering if he was coursing through a dream or were they really moving ahead into a comfortable phase.
When he reached the station, he was surrounded by his colleagues enquiring about his health and later the morning went by with work.
Two days later…
"Happy Birthday Atharv…!!" Kalyani and Atul walked into the Ranes house.
Kalyani set the cake she had baked on the table.
Atharv's smile was as bright as the sun, "Thank you…"
He bent down and touched Atul's feet.
Sarthak joined them and the men teamed up.
Kalyani went to the kitchen, "Kaki mai aapki madad kar dun…?"
"Koi zaroorat nahi…sirf mere bete ke wajah se tumhe is ghar me bardaash kar rahi hun…khana khao aur chalti bano…"
"Kaki…"
Anupriya shot her a glance which made her leave the kitchen quietly.
The men were still chit chatting and Kalyani took Dhruv in her arms and clicked some selfies with him.
"Kitna bada ho gaya re tu…" she squished him in her arms and he wiggled down. She had fun playing with her little one after so many days.
Atharv cut the cake happily.
"Both yummy cake hai Kalyani…"
They all had dinner.
Atul's car arrived along with Raghav and he took leave.
Kalyani wanted to spend some more time with Dhruv. She played with him some more but Anupriya didn't allow Kalyani to feed the child and took him away with her.
Kalyani smiled seeing how the anger in Anupriya's face had changed into smiles as she cooed to her grandson.
"Mujhe bhi ab chalna chahiye…cab book kar leti hun…"
"Thodi der ruko Kalyani…Mai ek chota sa kaam khatam karke tumhe chod deta hun…!! Iss wakt akele cab me mat jao…" Sarthak said.
"Are kaka..aap takleef mat kijiye. Mai Malhar ko phone kar deti hun…!! waise bhi apne bhai ko wish karne aayenge na…"
"Bhai nahi aayega…" Atharv said flatly.
"Kya…? Aise kaise nahi aayenge… Mai call karti hun…"
"Bhai ne subah hi phone par wish kar diya…bohot kaam hai use.. Nahi aa sakta…"
"Ye kya baat hui….itna bhi kya kaam… ki apne bhai ko wish na kar sake…"
"Kalyani chodo na .…"
"Lekin…"
"Kalyani…mujhe thodi der bahar khuli hawa me lekar chalo na…please…", Atharv asked, ending the banter.
"Birthday boy ko please bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai…chalo…!!"
She pushed the wheelchair out of the house into the small flower garden.
"Wow…beautiful flowers. Kitne colourful hai…"
"Sampu ko phool bohot pasand the…hai na Kalyani…?" His voice was heavy.
"Haan…", she turned and saw the sole tear rolling down his cheek.
"Atharv…!!"
"Kash woh hamare saat hoti…kash woh hamare bache ko dekh pati…!!", he whimpered.
"Kitni koshish ki hogi usne…lekin use sirf nirasha hi mili hogi…!! khudko maaf nahi kar paunga mai…meri wajah se Sampu….", he began whimpering more heavily.
Kalyani rubbed his shoulder to console him.
"Sabki wajah sirf haalat hai Atharv…!! tum jaankar kisiko kabhi koi chot nahi pohoncha sakte…aur ye baat tumhari Sampu bhi jaanti hai…"
"Lekin chot toh pohoncha di maine.. meri wajah se tumhe aur Bhai…tum donon ko aise shaadi karni padi..!! Tum donon ki zindagi barbaad kar di maine…I'm sorry Kalyani…."
"Atharv aisa kuch nahi hai…shant ho jao…"
"Bhai toh kabhi kuch nahi bolega… meri Aai ne kitni takleef di hai use…bachpan se…!! kitna sunaya hai…sab man me daba leta hai…!! aur ab meri wajah se bina pyar ki shaadi…!! ab bhi chup hi hai…!! aur tum bhi wahi kar rahi ho…"
"Nahi Atharv tumhe galatfaimi hui hai…" she kneeled down, taking his hands into hers.
Atharv looked in her eyes, "Kaisi galatfaimi Kalyani…? Kya lagta hai tumhe…!! mai itna nasamajh hun… ? Mujhe saaf saaf dikhta hai tum donon kaise ek samjhaute ki zindagi jee rahe ho…aur uska zinmedar Mai hun…"
"Actually na mujhe tumhe thank you bolna chahiye…tumhare wajah se hi toh mujhe itna acha life partner mila…woh bhi bina dunde..!!"
"Kalyani…baat ko ghumao mat… Mera dil rakhne keliye jhoot mat bolo…"
Kalyani looked straight into Atharv's face and gave a firm answer.
"Mai tumse koi jhoot nahi bol rahi hun Atharv… !! Shaadi jaise bhi hui ho…!! in pichle kuch mahinon me jo bhi hua ho…!! par aaj…!! ab…!! mere dil me Malhar keliye sirf pyar aur izzat hai…aur woh kabhi khatam nahi hoga…"
Atharv's lips slowly curved into a smile, "Sach…?"
"Hundred percent…!! Koi shak..?"
Atharv shook his head and then giggled, fishing out his phone. "Main abhi Bhai ko phone karta hun… mujhe kaise nahi bataya…!! Jab milunga toh kaan keechne wala hun..!!"
"Hold on…hold on…!! Tum phone nahi karoge.."
"Kyun…!! Itni badi Khush khabri ke baad mujhe tum donon se treat chahiye…!! Aise nahi chodne wala hun…"
"Apne excitement par thoda brakes lagao…Pehle mai unhe bata toh dun…!!"
"Kya…? Abhi tak bataya nahi…?"
Kalyani shook her head.
"Are toh yahan kya kar rahi ho…jao batao na…"
"Haan jaldi bata dungi…"
"Jaldi nahi…aaj…!!"
"Are aaj kaise…"
"Birthday boy ko gift chahiye…", he pouted.
"Mil jayegi gift…jaldi…", she giggled.
"Birthday aaj hai…"
"Special gift maangi hai toh thoda intezaar karna padega…"
"Jyada nahi karunga…"
She giggled again and pulled his cheek.
Sarthak came there and Kalyani left for home with him.
Malhar hadn't come home yet and she called him, getting no response but a few seconds later a message popped up.
"Aane me der hogi…"
"Khana…?" , she replied back.
"yahan kuch intezaam ho jayega…"
"Ok..bye!!"
She decided to wait and sat down with her laptop to get some of her work done.
An hour later she yawned and unable to control her droopy eyes, she went to sleep.
Malhar entered the house two hours later. He locked the door and stood in the living room which had a soft night light glowing.
He looked at Kalyani's closed room door. Walking towards the room, he held the door handle contemplating whether he should open the room and check on her or not.
Nahi…!! Kahin neend khul gayi toh…!! Aaram se sone do…!!!, he told himself and walked to his room.
He didn't want to enter inside and be engulfed by the same loneliness but he had to have a shower and get some sleep. He felt tired to the bone.
He sighed, opened the door and went in.
Malhar stood there and blinked a few times before the fact got into his head firmly.
Kalyani was sleeping on the bed on her side.
Malhar sagged against the wardrobe door. He hadn't thought she would be here today since Atul had gone back. He felt an unknown sense of relief and couldn't help the feeling of butterflies fluttering all over his heart.
What was he feeling…!! Was he entitled to feel that…?? Could he hope…??
Showered and changed, Malhar lowered himself on the bed, turning to make sure she was still there.
Malhar was tired but sleep was not his friend right now. His mind was still debating with his thoughts and feelings when he felt her hand around his waist.
She had moved closer to him and her head comfortably rested on his arm.
Malhar relaxed his muscles to make it comfortable for her. He didn't want to think about whatever was in store later. This moment was precious to him.
