Sharad Malhotra was in close contention with Karanvir Bohra for Aami Dakini?

Sony TV’s ongoing supernatural drama Aami Dakini has gone through several major shifts, both in terms of storyline and casting choices. While viewers have recently seen Karanvir Bohra enter the show as a mysterious professor, India Forums has exclusively learnt that Sharad Malhotra was in close contention to play the said character.

According to our sources close to the development, the makers were in talks with Sharad before finalising Karanvir. The character, which was later rewritten as a pivotal entry point into the fantasy-heavy arc of the show, was initially imagined with Sharad in mind. However, for reasons that remain unclear, possibly due to date issues or creative differences, the part did not materialise for him.

The show, which stars Sheen Dass and Rachi Sharma in the lead, was launched with Rohit Chandel as the primary male lead. But shortly before the telecast began, Hitesh Bharadwaj was brought in to replace Chandel. Rachi was also roped in to replace the actress before her. Just a few weeks later, another male character was added to the plot, now played by Karanvir Bohra.

Karanvir recently opened up about joining Aami Dakini in an interview with Times of India, saying, “This show has kept me on the edge of my seat in every episode.” His entry has added a new layer of intrigue to the storyline, which revolves around themes of reincarnation, unresolved love, and revenge from beyond the physical world.

The series is set in Kolkata and is produced by Peninsula Pictures. It combines elements of supernatural fiction, fantasy, and mystery. The supporting cast includes Swaroopa Ghosh, Priti Amin, Amit Kaushik and others.

While neither Sharad nor the producers have publicly commented on the earlier casting discussions, such insights reflect how TV projects often go through multiple revisions before the final cast is locked in. Had things aligned differently, viewers might have seen a very different dynamic unfold on screen. For now, the introduction of Karanvir’s character signals an exciting new phase in the story.
