Part 27
On the way back from the doctors, yug and bharti are in the car. Both are feeling confused about what just happened at the doctors. Yug was gonna say something but he didn't know what. It was awkward sitting in silence, he felt he should definitely say something. but bharti beat him to it. "yug, I've been thinking, I want to go and stay with my dad…just until we get the results back. Then we'll know what's what. Especially the way I am now, I mean with the way I feel, its best if I should spend some time with my dad, besides its been ages since I saw him last. I think we both need some time out before we have that overdue discussion.
Yug couldn't agree more. There was nothing he could say. He simply nodded.
Yug put the left signal indicator on.
"no don't do that, turn right"
"why…you not going back to work?" he was worried she wasn't feeling well again.
"no, just drop me off home plz, before you go back. I'm gonna go and start packing, then I will be able to make the 4'o clock bus to dads. And I'll get their this evening. Just go in and tell my boss that I'm not well, and I'm taking an emergency sick leave for 10 days or so.
"ok" He dropped her off and went back to work. Even then his mind was still unsettled. He kept thinking about the what the doctor said. He was right, he was sure of it now…he was responsible for bharti being unwell.
Yug left work, and he went alone. No bharti chatting in the car today. Once he got there, the house was empty, it felt so weird. He had grown accustomed to bharti being there.
Yug didn't have dinner, he just didn't feel hungry, he got changed and went straight to bed. His mind was in dyer need of rest. Too many thoughts going round too fast. As soon as hit the pillow he was off.
Part28
The next morning, yug got up a bit late, normally bharti would wake him…..but she wasn't here was she. He quickly got ready and set off to work, today the workload just seemed to be more aswel.. Yug found himself running half an hour late than usual (maybe it was true, a good beginning of the day would result in a good ending as well, he had started the day late, and was just late in everything else aswel). Normally by this time him and bharti would be home. He finished up and set off for home.
As he turned around the corner, there was a bus stop on his left. He was driving really slowly because of the traffic, and as he turned his head, he noticed vrinda standing there.
In that small moment yug was in two minds. Should he pull up and offer her a lift, or should he just drive by.
Yug's emotions got the better of him. He parked the car and got out.
Vrinda was just standing there minding her own business. She had already missed one bus, and now she didn't want to miss the second one. Before she realised, yug was standing right in front of her.
"what are you doing here?" she blurted out. Yug seemed a bit nervous.
"I….umm….saw you here, and I just thought that maybe I could give you a lift"
"its ok….I'm waiting for the bus, it'll be here soon. Im sure of it"
Yug looked at his watch. "umm, actually vrinda, I think you've missed it"
"no I haven't theres 2 busses that come here in the afternoon and take my route home, I've only missed the first one, the second one will be here shortly"
"actually, im pretty sure, the first comes at 5:30 and the second comes 45 minutes later. And you have defiantly missed both of them"
vrinda looked around. She was the only one standing there, there would be loads of other passengers waiting to board there if was another bus was coming….so maybe yug was right, and she had got it wrong.
"come on, just let me drop you off, or you'll be waiting here all night…….look just trust me ok"
Vrinda stared back at him…..those words he had just uttered were what she had lived by for so many months until, he had proved her wrong "just trust me"….he had said it so simply. He had meant them so simply!
Vrinda gave in, she didn't want to be standing here all night, so she just nodded.
They both got in the car. Vrinda got in the front passenger seat herself today. Yug started the car and began to drive.
Vrinda straightened her dupatta, as she did one end of it fell on the gear stick. Yug took his hand off the steering wheel to change the gears, and felt her dupatta. He looked at her from the corner of his eyes, she wasn't looking, but she was looking beautiful, as allways. He kept his hand on the gear stick while clenching to the dupatta aswel. Yug's emotions began stir.
Vrinda was finding it hard also. She couldn't look his way. His musky smell and his calone were enticing as allways, she could smell him all over the car. She got flashbacks of moments when yug had stood so close to her, that all she had wanted to do was bury her face in his neck. She loved his scent. It use to drive her feelings wild….infact it still was.
All yug could think about was her. He turned his head EVER so slightly, pretending to look out of his left side view mirror, but secretly to get another glimpse of her. He noticed her hair. She never kept it open any more. He remembered the times when he would rummage his fingers through those long black waves. He didn't know whether it was the smell of her shampoo, but he loved the aroma of her hair. Even today, he could smell the same aroma, only inches away.
vrinda was becoming to dreamy…..she snapped herself out of it by saying "bharti"
"what?" at the mention of her name ,yug automatically let go of the dupatta. He was pulled back into his senses.
"what I meant to say is that where is bharti?" she quickly added, infact this was a good question where was bharti vrinda thought.
"umm she's gone to stay at her dads for the next 10 days or so"
"oh rite…..its just that yesterday she mentioned she had a doctors appointment today, and I didn't see her at work, so I thought maybe she's still not well"
"oh don't worry, she's ok, just wanted to see her dad"
"So the doctor said she's fine?" inquired vrinda
"well, he said that everything seemed fine, he did some tests, and we should have the results by the time she comes back"
"oh, so no news yet then" vrinda tried to find out if yug knew.
"news about what?" yug asked suspiciously
"oh I mean so no news until she gets back"
"yeah afraid so" but im sure it will be good news.
Vrinda looked at yugs face, he had a small smile on. So he was hoping to become a father. Vrinda looked back the other way, and tried her best to not let out any sign of disappointment.
Yug was dying to talk to her more, just listen to her voice, if it had been upto him, he would have took the scenic route back to her place, but he knew he had to control his feelings.
They arrived at the hostel. Both were at a loss for words. Awkward silence again. They both new someone should speak…and soon!
"ok by then" they both said in unison
Both gave each other a quick glance filled with a tiny smile, then vrinda left.
On the way home all yug could think about was her……and at home all she could think about at home was him.
Both are thinking aloud to themselves.
Yug: will I ever be able to stop loving her?
Vrinda: no never, I can never push him out of my heart, no matter how much I want
Yug: she will allways have a place in here (as he touched his chest
Vrinda: but he can never-
Yug: be mine
Vrinda: our fates just-
Yug: disagree
Vrinda: I want to leave his life
Yug: but wont ever be able to
Vrinda: I will just have to be-
Yug: a good friend
Vrinda: I will allways be
Yug: there for her
Vrinda: no matter what
Yug: I will allways be there for her
Yug and vrinda together: for allways and forever !
Part 29
Couple of days went by, and one afternoon, as yug was walking out of his work place, he noticed vrinda leaving aswel.
"hey" he called to her, she looked back and gave a small smile. "umm I was just going for lunch"
"yeah me to" she said unsteadily.
"ok then" said yug and pretended to look somewhere else. Vrinda waited for him to say something but he didn't so she just turned to walk away. Yug saw her about to leave, he got nervous and messed up his hair from the back "umm…I was just wondering…..do you wanna have lunch?" he shouldn't have said that, of course she was gonna say no…what was he thinking?
"ok " vrinda had said it before she even realised what it meant. She just agreed to go and have lunch with HIM….was she out of her mind?? Yes defiantly out of her mind….but she couldn't even think of an excuse to refuse.
Alright then, lets go, yug turned and walked off, she followed him like a child would there mother, as if they had done something wrong.
Yug took vrinda to a small dhaba road side hotel. Vrinda wasn't expecting yug to bring her here. He was a rich guy, not that she wanted to go to a posh restaurant, she would only feel so out of place there, those big places made her feel very uncomfortable. Then it hit her, he had brought her here because of her, because he DIDN'T want to take HER to a posh place, vrinda found anger stirring inside her. was he looking down at her, as though she wasn't of his league?
They sat down on the small bench. A guy in a dhoti came along to ask them their order. When he saw yug he patted him on the back and said "oh you eh, what would you like"
"What I normally have plz" replied yug,
Vrinda was socked to hear this, she just looked at yug's face.
The guy asked vrinda what she wanted, and without asking she said she would have the same, after all, if it was good enough for yug it was good enough for her. When he left, she turned to yug and asked "so have you been here before then?"
"off course, I come here once a week, love the food they make here, it cant be beaten by some of the top restaurants you know" and he smiled, showing his lovely teeth.
Vrinda looked at him in amazement, and cursed herself for doubting him.
The food arrived, yug rolled up his sleeves, and began to dig in proper desi style. Vrinda just looked at him in awe. How could she have doubted him? He may be wearing a suit and tie and work at a posh place, but deep down he was still the old yug.
Infact that was one of the things that had made her fall for him, he was the rich grandson of her families enemy, and she was the granddaughter of a poor farmer. Yet , he had looked past all that. He had spent most of his child hood and all his adolescent years abroad, and had money to throw away at will. But he didn't, he wasn't spoilt. He was wise, and caring, and thoughtful and down to earth. He was yug !
Yug looked up at vrinda staring" what's the matter, is it not good?"
"no no, its fine…its absolutely fine she said"
And they both continued to eat.
Both were really hungry, and managed to finish their meals in half the time they normally would. There was still half an hour left till lunch was over.
Vrinda looked around trying to avoid eye contact. Yug noticed the awkwardness, and decided maybe it was time to go.
On the way back, yug decided to take a different route back to work, one that was 10 minutes longer. Vrinda didn't notice, she was lost in her thoughts. She remembered the times when she had made food for yug herself. how he would toy with her. how they would laugh. how feed each other. She was so lost.
As yug was driving he noticed a darbaar coming ahead. He didn't know what it was, but he suddenly found the urge to go there. Bharti had said she wanted to go there so many times, but yug had always been too busy. Today he just felt it was right, as if he was being called to go in. he turned to vrinda and asked "hey vrinda, I know we are meant to be going back to work, but we still have plenty of time yet, and I don't normally get a chance to come here, so I was just wondering, do you mind if I make a stop and go into the darbaar for a bit.?"
vrinda looked at him in confusion, then she looked ahead, and saw the entrance to the darbaar. It reminded her of the temple back home. their meeting place, where they had had most of their rendezvous. The gods had over heard their conversations numerous times, yet it was ironic how not once their prayers had been heard. vrinda thought for
a moment. she was gonna say no, she wanted to go back to work, but for some reason she felt a tug at her heart. It was as if someone was telling her to go…just go.
Vrinda looked straight at yug and said, "yes, I want to come to"
Yug just smiled back. He quickly parked up, and the two walked up the long stairs.
Vrinda put her dupatta over her head, and yug got out his handkerchief and tied it over his. They took their shoes off and went inside. Both knelt down in front of the kabar and prayed.
Yug: please, I don't want anything for myself, all I want is vrindas happiness, I cant bear to see her like this. Please just give vrinda all the happiness that she deserves and more, give her my share of happiness aswel…that's all I want.
Vrinda: I don't ask for anything for my self. I know I get hurt and a bit jealous seeing yug in his new life……but please, please, allways just keep him happy……no matter what, please just keep him happy. He deserves everything he wants. My happiness, is in his happiness.
Both got up and walked out together. Back in the car, yug couldn't help but wonder what vrinda had prayed for. He knew he had no right asking, but he couldn't help his curiosity.
"so what did you ask for vrinda?" he turned to her and asked while he was driving.
Vrinda had to think fast, she couldn't tell him "umm, I wished for my loved ones' happiness.
"your loved ones?"
"yeah….my family, who else could mean more to me than them" she lied thru her teeth, "what about you?"
Yug wasn't expecting her to ask him, but he had started this conversation, so it was his own fault "umm, same thing really" little did he know that he was dead on correct.
The rest of the drive back was quiet. Neither said a word to each other. Once there, they just gave each other a quick good bye and went their separate ways.
im guessing you guys have found this update very boring, however, i would still love to read ur coments about it, so plz do and be honest !
