Part 30

A couple of days have past since yug and vrinda had lunch together.

Vrinda is walking down the hallway, going about her work and minding her own business, when suddenly, a deep manly voice shouts. "um excuse me"

Vrinda turned around, to see if this was voice was aimed at her..and to her horror it was. She just froze, why was he calling her, had she done something wrong?

"sorry, I didn't mean to startle you Mrs yugander, but im glad I met you here"

Vrinda couldn't believe what he had just said'.was she hearing things..or did he just call her Mrs yugander?? She was too stunned to reply or question him.

"I was just going to see your good man, but this will save me the trip all the way back upstairs. could you plz tell him, that I want to see him tonight, if he could come down to my house, there is something I want to discuss with him"

"um actually sir-"

"oh and, what am I saying..off course you should come too, my wife would love the company too"

"but sir-"

"no no no, I wont hear of it..actually we will make a dinner out of it, you both come have dinner and then after we will discuss business, while you and my wife gossip."

Vrinda was becoming more and more worried by the minute, how could she explain to him that he had got the wrong end of the stick, that she wasn't yug's wife.

"That's it then you both will definitely come, I will be expecting you guys at 7 then, and don't look worried Mrs yugander, my wife is lovely, she doesn't bite" he chuckled "unless its me" he whispered to himself.

Before vrinda could say any thing, the new CEO turned on his heels and left.

Vrinda stood there in a confused state, what was she going to do?

Yug was busy as usual, when he heard the knock on his office door.

"come in" he said without looking up.

The door opened, ever so slowly. Yug was working on his computer, but all of a sudden he felt something. As he looked up he saw her standing there. Oh god...now was not the time to be daydreaming, he had too much work to do. He stared at her for a few seconds and then realised that he was just being plain stupid, she was actually there. She was there and she was really really worried. Yug jumped up straight away almost knocking the computer off the table. Vrinda saw his quick reaction to her, it made her even more uneasy.

"vrinda" yug managed "whats happened is everything ok??" her expression was worrying him.

"um, I have to talk to you about something"

"ok, go on" yug was confused. It was like watching his dream play out in front him. Was she hear to confess her love for him. could she not live without him either? Yug's heart was racing.

"I met Mr Bajaj down stairs" said vrinda

"Mr Bajaj? the new CEO" ok he thought, this certainly wasn't what he was expecting to hear.

"well''.. Umm.........actually..........he....he"

"go on vrinda, your scaring me now" yug demanded, and she really was.

"umm, he invited you to his house tonight, he wants to discuss something with you"

Yug let out a little laugh, and a sigh of relief'..he was thinking she had got in trouble with him and lost her job or something. all sorts of things were running through his mind, he didn't want her to not work there any more, that would be awful ! Before he could tell her to not worry, a thought popped into his head. Yug looked back at vrinda.

"wait, why did he tell you, if he has invited me?" as soon as he asked the question, the answer came to him,

"because he thinks-"

"that you're my wife" yug finished. "Omg....that night at the party, my boss got the wrong idea aswel, he's the one that probably pointed out to him that we are a couple, also we did leave together." yug leaned back and sat on his desk.

Vrinda felt so uncomfortable, and couldn't help but feel hurtful at the way yug was handling this. He seemed so unaffected.

"what did you say to him.did you tell him?" he enquired

"actually, I tried to say, but every time I opened my mouth he would cut in and I couldn't get a word out" pleaded vrinda. She felt like child confessing to their parent after they had broken a vase. She put her head down.

Yug looked at her, vrinda was so naive, look how scared she was. she looked so innocent, how yug wished he was in a position to take her into his arms.

Yug thought for a moment

"well there is only one thing we can do"

"what ?" vrinda looked at yugs face and she knew what was coming, before he could say it she stopped him

"NO !..there is no way I am going to pretend to be youre wife"

"ok then, well, you go find him, and tell him the truth"

"what ? Why should I tell him, your boss made all this confusion'you sort it out"

"I would love to, but he didn't talk to me did he, he talked to you. you could have told him the truth vrinda, but decided not to, so now im afraid your stuck" yug new this would work.

"I didn't decide not to, he wouldn't let me" stomped vrinda. Yug was chuckling inside, she was getting angry, and he was finding it amusing.

"why didn't he let you??" yug taunted her

"see, you've just admitted it. You didn't tell him, coz you don't want to get fired. Well, im not gonna tell him, coz I don't want to loose my job either" shouted yug, as much as he was taunting vrinda, there was truth in what he said. He had only just been promoted to senior member, he didn't want to get on the wrong side of the CEO and get demoted or worse get kicked out.

Vrinda looked at yug, even he seem perplexed now, thank goodness.

"is there really no other way" she asked in her small mellow voice.

Yug looked up at her. jokes apart, this wasn't fair on her, he would not put her through anything that didn't make her happy.

"look don't worry ok, I'll just tell him that you're, I mean my wife is unwell'.you don't have to pretend to do anything"

She saw the honesty in his face, he seemed really concerned about her.

"but he saw me just now and I was fine. what is he gonna think....what are you gonna say whats wrong with me?.....he will know that you are lying."

"well then what do you want me to do vrinda ?" said yug'now he was becoming frustrated.

"look, I will go with you ok..but only because I don't see any other way out without either one of us getting into trouble."

"you don't have to vrinda, I was only joking with you before, really you don't have to"

"no I want to" vrinda said, and yug looked straight at her. "um, I mean, I don't mind. So lets just get this over and done with ok."

Yug let on a little smile. "thanks vrinda" she turned to leave. "oh what time do we have to be there?"

"at 7"

"ok I'll pick you up at 6.30"

"ok" was the only thing she said, and then she left.

Yug slumped on his desk. What had just happened. Woww. Not a day had gone by when he hadnt wished he was married to vrinda. Was god taking the mick out of him, by giving him one evening to pretend that he was. Yug didn't know whether to pity him self, or be thankful.

Part 31

Yug parked outside vrindas hostel. He considered for a moment whether he should go inside or not. He was just about to open his door to get out, when she appeared at the hostel entrance. He just looked on in awe.

She came to the passenger side, and got in the front.

"Hey"

"Hey" you look really nice, I mean im glad you didn't wear something white" he quickly corrected himself. She was wearing a navy and turqoise patyaala shalwar suit. It was like he had skipped back in time and was looking at her in her house in pratapghar. She looked exactly the same.

"you too, I mean I thought you would be wearing a suit, after all it is a business diner for you isn't it" she said as she looked at his yellow and white polo shirt ,and combat trousers.

"yeah I know..but I just really wasn't in the mood to wear a suit, besides, if it was that formal, he wouldn't have invited us to his house."

Good point thought vrinda. She looked at him some more as she strapped her seat belt. he looked so nice, just like in the old days, not that he didn't look nice in his expensive designer suits, but seeing him like this he just looked so adorable and young. She pushed the old memories out of her head before they started haunting her again, she would let them back in when it would be time to sleep'..but not right now. Right now she had to be clear minded, she didn't want to make a mistake or cock up any thing.

Part 32

At the house.

It was a big big house. quite big to be a city house.

Yug and vrinda were welcomed by Mr Bajaj and his wife. After a little small talk, they sat down for dinner. They had a massive dining table in another room, but Mrs Bajaj said that since it would nly be the four of them, they might as well eat at the small round tining table. Yug and vrinda sat side by side. While Mr and Mrs Bajaj sat opposite. The food was awesome yug was thoroughly enjoying it while vrinda just took in small bites. She was way to nervous to eat properly. Mrs Bajaj noticed. Whats wrong dear, why are you not eating properly ?"

Before vrinda could answer yug did

"oh she is allways like this. Even at home. Why do you think she is so slim"

Vrinda turned her face towards yug and gave him such a lovely smile but with evil evil eyes. Yug knew that look, he had been on the receiving end of it many a time while he had perused vrinda to woo her.

Mrs Bajaj laughed. don't worry about your figure dear. Infact you are too skinny, I would say it would be best if you put some weight on." and she passed her the tray of savoury snacks. Vrinda picked one up smiling at Mrs Bajaj.

"So my dears, how long have you guys been married, you look like you were only married yesterday, or maybe I just feel like that coz we've been married for over 20 years" said Mrs Bajaj admiring their jodi.

Yug vrinda both stopped eating and without realising spoke at the same time

Yug: 6 months.

Vrinda: a month.

Mr and Mrs Bajaj also stopped eating now and looked at them with amazement.

"sorry, how long have two been married?" asked Mr Bajaj

Yug and vrinda found themselves feeling considerably nervous. They looked at each other, yug eyed vrinda and she understood what It meant. "you shut up, and let me talk". and right now she was ok with that.

"oh.umm, what we meant, mean is that, in a months time, it will be 6 months" yug waited to see if they had bought this. The moment passed and Mr Bajaj let out a laugh'Mrs Bajaj joined him. Yug and vrinda looked at each other. Vrinda gave him another even more evil look this time. Oh if looks could kill, yug would be under the ground right now. He quickly turned towards mr Bajaj and steered the conversation into the business direction. He didn't want any more questions like that.

Vrinda got on with the desert, inside she was praying that Mrs Bajaj wouldn't ask anything else...what would they say if she asked, how and where they had met ? Vrinda was beginning to think maybe they should have been more prepared and come up with a whole story to tell, before they arrived here.

Oh well..too late now. All she could do was hop and pray for the best.

Dinner was over and Mr Bajaj and yug went into the study while Mrs Bajaj and vrinda made small talk.

A half hour passed, and Mrs Bajaj had gone to get the tea (even though she had servants she still liked to do everything herself). Vrinda saw some photos of children on the wall. She questioned Mrs Bajaj about them upon her returning from the kitchen.

"oh they are our children dear. All grown up now. Aman is an architect and sanjana is doing her masters degree, its just me and Mr Bajaj that live here now, they do visit frequently tho, so that's a good thing'but I do miss them." she replied.

"off course you must" sympathised vrinda, she missed her family too.

"so what about you dear, how do you feel about having children, or are you planning not to yet..nowadays young couples like to wait don't they ?"

Vrinda was taken aback by this'..she found her inside churning. It was is if someone had sprinkled salt on fresh wounds. she couldn't bring herself to say anything.

"oh sorry dear, did I get a bit too personal ?"

Both vrinda and Mrs Bajaj looked at him.

"yes you are right, that is the best way." she turned to vrinda, and held her chin. "you two make such a beautiful couple. may god bless you, and im sure when you have children they will be even more beautiful"

Vrinda found herself wanting to cry but she had to be brave, she had to put on an act, couldn't give it away now. So instead she just gave a small smile.

Yug was putting on a bravado as well, outside he seemed happy and jeery but inside he had been shredded with Mrs Bajaj's words. She had no idea, how he had had those dreams aswel. But those dreams were impossible to come true now, if only she knew.

Before Mrs Bajaj could say any thing else, yug thought it would be best to leave. He thanked Mr and Mrs Bajaj for their hospitality and asked them permission to leave. A few minutes later they had bid the Bajaj's goodnight and were back in the car.

All the two of them could think about on the way home was what Mrs Bajaj had said. No matter how much they tried her words kept ringing in their ears.

"you two make such a beautiful jodi"

The car stopped, and vrinda turned the door handle to get out.

As she put one foot outside, she felt a grip on her arm.

Yug didn't know what had made him grab her arm, but he couldn't let her go like this. He knew there was a good chance she would slap him, after everything he had put her through this evening. but he had no intention of making her uncomfortable or causing her distress. He had to let her know that. "im sorry vrinda"

Vrinda had turned around to give him an earful. After all the lying and pretending she had done for him tonight'..how did he have the audacity to grab her arm like this, what did he want now. But as soon as she heard those words from his mouth, all the anger and hurt disappeared.

"What ?" she asked

"im sorry vrinda..plz....I didn't know mrs Bajaj would ask those questions, im really really sorry, I know you were really hurt and uncomfortable back there, but I just want to say that im really really grateful, and I swear to you, I will never put you through anything like that again"

by the time yugs scentance finished she found that her anger had come returned, and not only that but it had multiplied.

"what, you think I was hurt. I wasn't hurt. Why would I be hurt yug." her pride was back also. "And please don't make promises like that, coz we both know how good you are at keeping your promises."

"what ?, I mean what I say vrinda, I would die before seeing you hurt" the words had come out without him even realising.

"oh really, yes I definitely believe that. you are the only person in the world who has hurt me the most and yet you have the nerve to say that" it was all coming out now.

"what, ive hurt you ?'''.you can talk, what about you vrinda ?, you bloody hurt me !" she needed to know

"that's right, blame me..I don't know what i expected by agreeing to this stupid friendship."

"I knew it, go on, bail on me..that's what you've allways done, you never stay faithful to anything do you." he couldn't help it'..this had to be said.

Vrindas tears were pouring out, while yug's eyes were red with anger.

How dare he call her unfaithful. "let go of my arm yug" she demanded.

Yug didn't want to, he wanted answers, he wanted to let all his emotions out tonight, the good and the bad, but seeing her tears pouring, he didn't have the heart. He let go.

"we cant be friends yug, its not possible, no matter what our past will allways be dragged up, and it cant be. Tonight has made me realise, that we need to put our past behind us for once and for all. I cant be your friend. From now on, we don't know each other !"

yug looked down, he couldn't let her see the tears building in his eyes "did we ever really know each other vrinda, did we??"

Vrinda couldn't muster the strength to answer, she closed the door, and ran inside crying. Yug watched her leave. Was this the last time?

Part 33

Yug turned, spun the car around and drove off. She had done it again. Why had he given her such right over his heart that she could squash it at her will, over and over. He was furious. He had apologised and she had thrown it back in his face. Even when he was nice to her she would be a bitch back. He hated her. He hated her so much. He would allways hate her.

Tears spilled. Yug laughed at himself. "Damn you, damn you vrinda, no matter how hard I try, I cant even hate you....I cant even hate you, thats how cursed i am"

Yug's eyes were becoming blurry with tears, and he was driving frantically. He just wanted to put an end to all this pain.

Vrinda was weeping in her room, she wanted to die, she kept eyeing the cupboard with the pain killers in it. should she just O.D on the painkillers and kill this pain for once and for all. why?? Why had she allowed herself to be close to him. Why had she spent time with him, knowing full well all she would get out of it was more pain. Why had she fooled herself into thinking that she could be friends with him..oh she was such a stupid stupid girl. She despised him. "Plz god just take me away from his life just take me away. I cant bear to see him any more plz." and she fell to the floor.

Some time passed and vrinda heard a disturbance outside her room. She opened the door and a bunch of girls were standing there crying and screaming and shouting aloud.

"whats happened'.whats wrong'why is divya crying??" she inquired

The girl consoling divya spoke up. "Divya and her cousin were coming home, when they crossed the road you know just around the corner where the petrol station is, and this stupid driver just missed hitting them, he swerved his car and and went straight into an oncoming one.

"what ?" vrinda's chest was hurting, and weird fear was beginning to consume her "what car was it, who was driving it???" vrinda screamed

"I don't know, when one of the passers by opened the car door all I could see was a yellow shirt. Stupid idiot'must have been drunk or something, almost killed us, and probably killed himself. He looked in a really bad state.

"Nooooo" shouted vrinda, she turned and ran. She ran as fast as she could. It was apocalypse and her world was ending.

Vrinda arrived at the scene in moments. Yug's car had been crushed from the front and side. Her fear was confirmed. Although she had realised straight away divya was talking about yug, she had still been praying that it wasn't. The ambulance had arrived aswel. vrinda looked around, the other driver was sat on a stretcher, he seemed ok. "Oh god plz let yug be ok aswel" she prayed, as she turned the other way she saw Yug laid out on a stretcher. He was unconcious. There was blood every where, he looked like he had been crushed. Vrinda ran over to the paramedic pulling the stretcher into the back of the ambulance. "He's ok isn't he ? tell me he's ok..plz just tell me he's ok."

"He's in a very critical state madam, but who are you?" answered the paramedic

vrinda looked at him and said "im his wife."

i hope it was to ur liking, and if it wasnt i still want to know. i know you guys want this misunderstanding over between them, but i dont want to make it too soon, promise tho it will be, im trying to stick to ektas style, dont know if its working tho, so plz do coment all you lovely people.
