ok i wasnt gonna update (like ever!), because neetu made me really upset with her decision not to, and as much as i HATE this FF, im not gonna leave it hanging half way. so this is just for you guys. read, and plz tell me what you think !
Part 34
Vrinda sat their on the bench in the hospital corridor. All sorts of thoughts were leaving and entering her mind. Her brain was still trying to register what had happened.
Yug had been in a car accident, and the doctors had told her it was very serious. Right now they were inside trying to stop him bleeding to death and get his breathing back to normal. One of his lungs had collapsed, so he was on the ventilator. The paramedic had said that if it wasn't for the airbag, the crash would have proved fatal instantly, he had also said that if yug had been wearing his seat belt, there would have been less damage to his head.
Vrinda just closed her eyes, and pushed all the negative thoughts out her head. He was gonna be alright. Nothing would happen to him, nothing. He would come out of this and be fine. He was yug after all. Yug was capable of anything, he had surprised her time and time again. She had complete faith that he would be alright. She would not allow her else to think it any other way, there would be no other way!
Vrinda just sat their with her head in her hands, and praying like she had never prayed before. The doctor came out of the room, vrinda got up straight away.
"how is he doctor, now can I be with him?" she had begged them before but they had strictly not allowed her to come in.
"we have managed to stop the bleeding, he is still on the ventilator, but his breathing is getting better"
"thank goodness, I kne-" but before vrinda could finish she saw the expression on the doctors face.
"whats wrong…why are you looking like that??" shouted vrinda.
The doctor looked straight at her and said "the thing is, although we have stopped the bleeding, because of the immense hit that his head incurred, we are certain that there is swelling inside the brain. We have to operate, to release the blood from inside, so that the swelling can go down, also, we don't want there to be any blood clots forming so we need to do this as soon as possible"
Vrinda sat down on the bench. Her hands were shaking. She hadnt expected this news.
"I know this is a difficult time for you Mrs yugander, but I have to give you the full facts, and then you need to make a decision quickly."
Vrinda looked up at him, she felt sick to the stomach, her world was swaying left right left.
"this operation, has a 50/50 success rate, it can go either way mam, but right now, its his only chance. We need your answer, you are his next of kin, and so it is your choice, if we go ahead with this or not"
"if the operation works, he will be fine. Will he be ok??" her voice was trembling.
"the doctor knelt down to her level and spoke " like I said, it's a 50/50 chance, but we will try our best, the rest is in gods hands"
Vrinda couldn't bring herself to speak, she just nodded at the doctor, giving an indication to go ahead with the operation.
The doctor understood, and immediately got his staff to take yug upstairs and be prepared for surgery. He called a nurse, and asked her to bring the consent forms for vrinda to sign.
Vrinda watched as yug was taken upstairs. The blood had been cleaned off his face, but the swelling was visible. It felt so wrong seeing him in this state. There was a time, when he was her knight in shining armour. He had sheltered her from all the pains in the world and showered happiness all over her. As long as yug was by her side, nothing could have harmed her. He was her hero, her man of steal. And to look at him now, his body like a crushed shell, it was extremely disturbing.
Part 35
Vrinda sat outside the operation theatre, just hoping and praying, praying and hoping.
Almost 2 hours had past, she wanted to worry, but by allowing her self to worry meant that she was allowing her self to accept the worse. And vrinda would not, could not accept that. She kept her eyes closed and continued to pray.
The doctor came out, and vrinda shot up "oh plz god I beg you, let it be good news"
The doctor took his mask off "so far the operation was a success, but we wont know for sure until at least 12 hours hours have passed."
"ok…thank you doctor…thank you so much"
"don't thank me, mam, thank the lord, its all upto him……and like I said, we still have to wait and see"
"can I see him now?"
He is going to be transferred into the ICU room, you can sit with him in there. But hes still unconscious, and probably will be for the next 12 hours or so"
Vrinda nodded.
In the ICU room, vrinda sat by yugs bed. She couldn't stop looking at him, no matter how much she took him in, it wasn't enough. His chest was bare and bruised up. His head was heavily bandaged. There was swelling on his face, especially near his right temple and cheek. But God had helped them this far, and he would help them further, he would make her yug better, she just had to be patient and keep praying.
Part 36
Its morning and vrinda has fallen asleep. She is sat in the chair, but her head is placed on yugs bed side. The nurse comes in.
"Hello mam"
Vrinda awoke to see the nurse standing there, she rubbed her eyes and asked "what time is it?"
"Its 12,o clock midday mam, we were gonna wake you before, but you had stayed up all night, so we thought we would let you rest. besides, your husband has had peaceful night, and the doctor checked his vitals this morning. Everything looks fine…..now we are just waiting for him to wake up to, he was heavily sedated, but he should be waking up soon"
Vrinda tried to give a hopeful smile, but she was still tired. She looked at yug. There was still swelling there, but he looked peaceful. She remembered there was something she needed to do. "umm excuse, is there a phone I can use, its just that I don't have my purse with me ?"
"Yes mam, you can use the one down the corridor at the desk"
"Thank you"
Vrinda picked up the phone and dialled the number for her office, she told the girl on the other end that she was unwell and couldn't come in, before putting the phone down, vrinda asked the girl to transfer her to the main building switch board. Vrinda was transferred. She asked the switch board operator to put her through to yugs secretary. Once through, she told the secretary about yugs accident, and told her to contact his wife and alert her of the circumstances.
Vrinda put the phone down, and walked back to yugs room. She sat down back in her chair and continued to look at yug. She had done the right thing, bharti needed to know. She knew she had done wrong by not informing bharti straight away, but last night, she wasn't thinking straight. All that mattered was yug. Vrinda was in less of a confusion now. Bharti would be so mad at her, for not telling her, and maybe even for lying about being yugs wife and signing the consent form, but vrinda had done what she had thought best. Not for her, not for bharti, only for yug….that's all that mattered. As long as yug would be ok, vrinda was willing to be object of bhartis hate and lectures for the rest of her life.
Part 37
Some time passed and the doctor came in to review yugs progress. Vrinda watched silently and carefully, like a hawk.
After careful deliberation the doctor spoke "its been more than 13 hours, and all the vitals are fine, the sedatives should be out of his system, but he still hasn't woken up yet"
Vrinda knew something bad was coming, she held on tightly to her chair,
"we will give him a few more hours"
"and after that, then what….if he doesn't wake up…then what??" vrindas voice was loud and full of fear.
"well hopefully he will, but if he's not up by then, there a good chance he has gone into a comatose state……he will be in a coma, and you never know when a person can wake from a coma…..weeks, months, years. But like I said, we can still give it a little bit more time before we know for definite, at this moment in time, there is still hope, remember what I said mam, don't stop praying. Your prayers have brought him this far, so don't give up"
The doctor gave an assuring smile, and left.
Vrinda didn't want to, but the worry had come back, and it was trying to settle in.
She looked at yug, took his hand in hers and moved her face close to his.
"wake up yug……wake up…….come back……plz just come back…….come back to me……."
Part 38
Yug was somewhere far far away, it seemed like a desert, and he was walking…..he didn't know how long he had been walking for, but it felt like forever. He was so so tired. But he couldn't stop. Not yet, he was searching for something…..or was it someone. He couldn't stop until he had found what he was searching for. He was so close……he knew it…..but still it felt like it was too far out of reach, "keep going" he told himself, "keep going……your close". He stopped, there was a shadow…a sort of silhouette up ahead. yug crept forward. As he got closer, the silhouette turned. It had a face, a face that yug knew. It was the face he had been searching for. It was his destination. She opened her arms, and yug drew closer. Her mouth was moving, words were coming out, but yug couldn't understand. His head was swirling. He wanted to be in her arms, just a few more steps and he would be. Just a few more….yug took another step and fell to the floor. "no….no" he managed to make out……almost there….he couldn't give up now, she was right there, and she was calling him……how could he not go to her……but before he could get up, darkness came, and consumed everything.
Yug opened his eyes, ever so slightly and slowly. He peered out through half open eyelids. His whole body was aching, his head was throbbing and banging, he shut them again.
"come back to me yug, you have to come back to me. how can I survive knowing that you are not here. it is impossible. We maybe separated, because that is what fate has chosen for us, but I only live because of you. I live because you do. Yug and vrinda may be two names that cannot be mentioned together in the same sentence, but without yug, vrinda is incomplete (yug ke bina vrinda adhoori hai)."
Yug opened his eyes. It was vrindas voice. She was by his bedside and her face was turned the other way. she had just said that "yug ke bina vrinda adhoori hai"
"My happiness is in your happiness, my life is, if you have life yug. Please wake up, please come back."
Vrindas was holding yugs hand, and her face was rested on his arm, she was pleading and crying and praying.
Vrinda didn't want to give up hope, but it had been hours since the doctor had left, she closed her eyes, willing to let her worst nightmare come true. As she did, she suddenly felt movement in her hand. She looked up. yugs fingers were twitching. Her heart jumped so fast she forgot to breathe. She turned and looked at yugs face, his eyes were slowly opening, there was still loads of swelling around his upper face which was stopping him from opening his eyes completely, but he was awake. HE WAS AWAKE!
"yug" vrinda let out "your awake. I knew you would get through, I knew it. my heart kept telling me that you couldn't leave me like this, you came back" tears of happiness swam down her face.
Yug had heard everything, he smiled as much as his aching jaw allowed him to. He wanted to talk, but his throat was so sore. He just squeezed vrindas hand in his own. Vrinda looked at his hand and and put her other hand on top. Everything was gonna be alright. Her yug was gonna be alright.
She looked back at yug, and he at her. They just froze, lost in each others gaze.
Yugs whole body was aching, but he didn't care, because for once in a long long time, his heart wasn't. As long as his heart was happy, he could deal with the rest of the pain. This pain was nothing compared to what he had gone through in the past 10 months, and it would heal in no time at all. All that mattered was that his vrinda loved him. She still loved him. All that rubbish about her being over him, it was just a faade. Even till this day, she could not live without him, just like he could not live without her. She had confessed her feelings, now he would also. That's all he needed to know. As long as he knew she loved him, there was nothing in the world from stopping them being together. He had to tell her, now was the moment.
"vrinda I -"
But before he could continue, he realised that actually there was something he had forgotten. And now she was standing right in front of him reminding him.
"yug" shouted bharti.
