Priya nudged Kanak out of her day dream "Uma is holding a free class on aryuvedic medicine to explain it" she grabbed Kanak's hands "please can we go"
She sighed and nodded.
"Fine, but dont drool over him"
Priya giggled "Why Kanak, you jealous"

"Course not"
Kanak and Priya walked into Uma's very busy class, infact there were a ton of people stood up, and she made a good guess that the reason for the majority of his audience being female was not to learn about medication
Uma's eyes fell on Kanak immediatley as she walked in, she offered him a smile and went to stand at the back

"Wait"
Kanak scrunched up her face and turned around
Uma had always been taught that his partners comfort was a priority and he couldnt very well have Kanak stood up for the whole talk
He beckoned her forward and pointed to the empty chair he was sat in which was now nearer to the front and next to another student

Kanak walked over and sat down on it, her cheeks red with the attention on her via the other students
"Sir why does she get special treatment"
Uma looked to the girl stood up "shes got a bad leg"
The crowd nodded in some form of fake understanding and Priya laughed and put her thumb up at Kanak while wiggling her brows

Kanak didnt like how every girl sat in a dreamy state watching Uma, every time he spoke they would all 'ooh' and 'aah' and it angered her, although she told herself the reason why was because she wanted people to listen properly rather than because she didnt want others to be attracted to him

Uma's lecture was finally over, all the females running over to sign up to the class
Kanak stood up, she had to sign up to, couldnt have all these other women making Uma feel inferior, she was doing this purely because he was her houseguest

Uma's eyes followed Kanak as she signed her name
"Didnt think this was your kind of thing"
She looked up at him, he was to close for her to focus and she stood back, "you changed my mind"
Uma nodded
Kanak shivered under his gaze, his eyes narrowed in concern
"Are you cold"
His hands were on her arms, rubbing up and down trying to warm her up which instead was making it worse

"Im good now, thanks, bye Uma"
Uma looked bewildered at Kanak who ran out of the room quickly

Kanak had a full day of lessons, she was very tired and couldnt wait to get back to bed. Santosh waved at her, Kanak bent and took her blessings
Vansh offered her an ice cream which she took happily
"Hows your day been" she asked
Vansh nodded and explained how he was getting closer to the girl he liked

Kanak looked around, she wondered why Uma was not back yet
Meena looked at Kanak with a knowing look
"Uma is upstairs"
Kanak blushed again
"I wasnt looking for him"
Meena nodded "Then who were you looking for"
"Ved Bhaiya"
"But you know hes on a trip"
Kanak stood up "I forgot"

Kanak sat down on a bed, her feet were killing her, stretching them out she led back and closed her eyes
Uma walked out of the shower and raised his brow, what was Kanak doing on his bed?
Uma walked over to her, leaning over her

"Kanak"
Her eyes shot open and she jolted up and nearly rolled off the bed
Uma grabbed her waist, stopping her from falling
"Sorry I was tired, thought this was my room, ill just"
"No, its okay, just calm down, why are you in such a rush"

Uma picked up her scarf and draped it back over her shoulder
She watched his hand then looked back up at him
"How are you finding the college"
"Yeah its good" Uma nodded
Kanak wasnt sure if it was a good idea to ask, but she had to know

"Why did you give me that chair and no one else"
He smiled "Couldnt have the girl im staying with stand up, you've been a good friend to me, I was just repaying the favour"
Kanak smiled, just a friend. So she had to get rid of this baseless attraction

"Aaah" Kanak screamed as Meena spun her around, "chachi what has you so happy" Kanak asked
Meena let her go and cupped her face "We're going to get you married"
Kanak stood still in her shock, marriage, but to who?
"To who"
Meena stood back and pointed to a man who waved shyly at her

Kanak waved back and walked over
"This is Raj, hes 23 years old, talk to him"
Kanak and Raj stood awkwardly, unsure of what to say, she allowed Raj to do all of the talking
"So would you like to go out sometime" he asked
Kanak zoned out as Uma walked in, he offered her a small smile and she smiled back

"Hey Kanak"
She looked back at Raj, offering him an apology
"So, would you"
Kanak smiled "Yeah its a beautiful place"
Raj walked off, shaking his head he walked past Meena who watched Kanak's eyes remain on Uma, tapping her chin she smiled

"Bhaboo please atleast consider talking to Uma, its clear Kanak likes him" begged Meena for the fifth time
Santosh shook her head "Hes to old for her, he lives a different lifestyle, hes a teacher at her college, it would never work"
Meena sighed heavily "Sooraj and Sandhya were extremely different, yet they still found love, it can be found in the darkest of places Bhaboo, we know this"

Santosh looked over at Kanak and then at Uma "ill think about it"

"Uma, have you ever had a girlfriend" asked Rani
Kanak scooted her chair closer, this was a very interesting conversation indeed
"Uh, what's that"
Rani's jaw dropped "what do you mean, what's that, you know when you like a girl and you ask them to date you"
Uma's brows furrowed "So if you like them why not just propose"

Kanak's elbows slipped from the table, making Uma look toward her alarmed
She smiled, dusting off her elbows
His hands were quick as they grabbed her arms, lifting them he looked at her elbows then rubbed them
"So it wouldn't be appropriate to propose if I like a girl"
She sucked in a deep breath
"If you loved her then yes"

He was so close, to close maybe for Kanak to be able to think straight
Rani lowered himself, bending her neck she raised her brow "And just why are you treating Kanak like shes some fragile doll"
Even in his shock, he was careful to place Kanak's arms down gently
"Well because she"
Rani prodded his chest, her gaze accusatory
"Well because she what" her hands flew to her hips "I dont like the way you're looking at her"

Kanak stood up, leading Rani away who continued to shake her finger at Uma
"Rani bhabisa, what are you doing"
"He likes you and I wont have his filthy gaze on"
Kanak covered her mouth "He doesnt like me, we're just friends and he doesnt have a filthy gaze he's a really nice"
Rani screamed loudly making Kanak jump back

Rani continued to dance "You like him"
"No I dont" Kanak raised her chin
"Yes, you do, oh this is so cute, ive got to tell Golu ji"
Kanak grabbed Rani's arm, yanking her back "No, you can't tell anyone please, he doesnt like me back, he does things a different way"
Rani raised her brow "matlab"?

Uma walked towards the kitchen where Kanak and Rani stood
The next words reaffirming for him, that him and Kanak would never suit eachother
"He's old fashioned and I am not"
Clenching his fist, he walked away, feeling stupid to have ever felt like Kanak could want him

"Im not the kind of girl someone like him would want" Kanak muttered sadly, although Uma was everything Kanak had ever dreamed of
Rani hugged Kanak tightly, rubbing her hair
