Hey there people-- no civil cordiality today. Not in my proper mind I believe after watching the episode. I closed my eyes so that, I could see US later when his mentality gets better. But one has to see people at their worst to see them changed, to see them grow.
There are a lot of terms that describe certain group of people sharing the same ideology - school of thought. Commonly known as Ism - feminism, male chauvinism, blah blah blahism... the list goes on and the battle continues.
This post today is about none of that, please bear in mind that this is a fiction show, and everyone please no matter which side of 'ism' you stand on, if one can speak, then listen too.
Coming to the episode-- it was outright the battle of the sexes. The clash of ideas and ideology, the old vs the new, different thought process, different upbringing, different set of mind, different approach to life.
US explained her the schedule of the day, that they have to make 108 diya and take them to the mandir... he divided the work, he brought water and Kanak spun the wheel. He started off on an acceptable note that husband and wife are like two tires, none can work or move without the other. US moves on to more serious shackles of the society - that woman should stay at home, and rear up kids while the husband goes out for work. Kanak not mincing her words, she is not scared to voice her thought, her belief that this is old school. Women today is capable of much more than one could have ever imagined, she can work and handle house too.
MCP side of Uma returned in the blink of an eye...he continues that working woman creates unbalance in society, as apparently she is soft and can't handle pressure of outside world. And working women are getting weaker and are unfit to have kids. ---- this is a fiction, Chant this mantra and cool down... it's outright BS.
I don't belong to any side, Its all about individual choice and opportunity. Nobody should be forced against their will be it to work or stay at home.
Anyways Kanak states her point of view that her father supported her mother, she became what she dreamed of, they both achieved her goals together, that's a man, who doesn't bring down women. Me and my brothers grew up educated and normal, we might not have read veds but we understand how world works.. and your thoughts are from some other century.
US unable to accept defeat states that any man who sends his wife out, is not a man --- oh dear LORD somebody shut this man's mouth. Being a man himself, he degraded the concept of being a man. Wasn't man supposed to bring in support, share life equally, then suddenly why the boundaries, why the lakshman rekha for the woman to stay at home, and bear kids only. He dares her to prove that women are equal, he gives her the task of making rest of 28 diyas and getting them to mandir. He leaves in a fury. US as a man, has never been opposed for his views and at the subtlest west side wind, his aura loses control, and when he can't control anything he leaves it to a dare/test... earlier it was crab pareeksha and now diya pareeksha.
Kanak takes up a stand for women empowerment and is ready to teach him modern day idea of life, how times have changed. Women are no longer that animal which need be tied up in a shed, woman has reached the moon-- how far across can you see in the sky.
Precap- Kanak reaches Mandir in a disheveled state, US is furious with her-- I don't get it he is angry that she completed the challenge or that she was a bit disheveled or both. He starts his lecture that your state of clothes depict that woman is unable to handle pressure. She replies that she would leave him soon so his opinion doesn't matter.
The thing here is that no matter how different their approach towards life is, their ideology and belief, they slept on the same bed, at the end of the day this is the beginning of a journey towards better understanding, not only about each other but how they view the world and society. The change my friend is inevitable. Old ways don't open new doors, US has his road figured out where he has to travel to get to Kanak, or he can let her go for good.
There is no definition of being a man or a woman, there may not be a perfect recipe to achieve perfection in life, but both of them need to accept, co operate and LEARN. Stopping to Learn is the biggest mistake people make... learning others, their ideas, their thoughts doesn't make anyone inferior but educates the mind for better understanding.
In the end - I repeat again this is just a show, Kanak is the nayi soch which SP promotes and US is the target to get on the right track.
