What was your reaction to being sacked from Ek Ladki Anjaani Si?
Every single word that has been said or printed about me regarding the sacking is a lie. It was really shocking for me to read all those reports, especially after putting in so much hard work for the show. The channel guys called my behaviour 'unprofessional' but if I had been unprofessional, then it would have got reported sometime in the 15 months that I was doing the show. It's amazing how blatantly these guys lied like that. I didn't speak about this earlier as it's just not me. I don't believe in mud-slinging.
So what really happened?
My contract for the show had expired and despite repeated calls and requests to the channel to renew it, they refused to do it. For a whole month, I was shooting for the show without a contract. I kept calling them up to sort out the matter but they just didn't pay heed. So I tried putting a little pressure on them and the next thing I knew, I was not part of the show.
Is it true that you asked for a pay hike?
After working for a year, even my maid asks me for a raise! But we sit and discuss and come to a mutual decision. That is what I wanted to do with the production guys but they didn't even take my calls. But the raise that was quoted in the reports was ridiculously wrong!
What about reports of your rift with Mohnish Behl?
Mohnish and I never had a problem. He's just a very quiet man and he would not talk to anyone on the sets and it was the same with me.
Are you in touch with anyone from the show?
Yes, I'm in touch with my co-actors but nobody from production. They call up and say that they're missing me. As for Sandeep Sikcand, I don't even know the man! I have never even met him.
The production guys have called you 'unprofessional'. Do you think this will mar your chances of getting work elsewhere?
No, I don't think so. People in this industry know my reputation is very clean. And they know the reputation of these guys as well. As for work, I am looking at one or two shows to happen. I don't regret doing Ek Ladki... as it's because of it that I'm getting work. At the moment, I'm on a much deserved break and thoroughly enjoying myself. I'm not thinking about all that happened because I know I'm right. Somewhere, karma also comes into place and that's when things will fall into place.
