PROLOGUE
Rey entered the dark and empty hall. It was pitch-black all around and he had to squint, so as to find his way around and not send objects or himself crashing down. "kaka sogaye honge", he thought to himself as he tip-toed into his bedroom. He was exhausted. His bed looked tempting and all he wanted to do was plonk down on it and let all his worries, apprehensions and fears melt into the spongy softness of his mattress. He had pulled another one of his many all-nighters and a quick glance at his bedside digital clock informed him that dawn was not far away.
Shaking himself out of his stupor, Rey dragged his lead heavy body across the room towards his closet. As he mechanically went through all his tasks before sleeping, his mind no longer bounded by his restraint, raced towards a different tangent of its own. The events of the past 6 months came rushing back to him, as if someone had put them on a slideshow at twice the normal speed. One by one, his mind recalled, with surprising clarity, that fateful night, its repercussions, the change that it brought in the whole gang, the changes in him. And Kria
Kria. It pained him to think how close everything had come to falling apart. It hadn't been easy, these past months with her. Especially after that night. He shuddered to even think of it, but before he could summon the control to lock away those memories into some dusty corner of his attic, they came bidding right to the forefront. And before he could help himself, he was sucked right into them.
