MEGHA'S FEAR OF LOVE

It is pretty evident that she is being slowly but strongly drawn by Mohan's irresistable charm. She is desparately forcing herself not to see it or fall for it. But look at the sari shop episode when Mohan shows genuine concern for her health. Megha's face at that point was one of suppressed delight and it comes out poignantly if you watch it again. Another indicator of her fear is when she lies to Addu about her gift. There was no need for her to do this as Addu would have simply accepted it. But she realises that for the first time, she has probably crossed the line of friendhip with Mohan and she also realises that she probably desired this but unable to accept it. Remember she lives in a rather conservative family, she has just lost Amar in the not recent past and has cut off happiness to herself for some period. Then came Mohan like a breath of fresh air !!

Inspite of all their fights and the most serious of all, Mohan's article on Amar, she still kept getting drawn to him and was rather quick to forgive him when she understood him. The turning point of her thoughts was probably when she sees Mohan trying to plait nanhi's hair. As a mother she was absolutely delighted by this simple act which very few males even try. Her heart really gave way for Mohan at that instant, but she is scared to admit it and feels it is a forbidden delight for her. Again due to the constraints of society and family. Mohan has been very sharp to understand this and hence always stays behind a dotted line. I do believe that Megha's attempt to patch up Rashmi and Mohan is more out of her fear that she may herself fall in love with Mohan if she does not push him away now. She sees this maybe as a best escape route for her own feelings. The acceptance of the sari has enveloped her with a sense of guilt and again Akanksha showed it beautifully as she tries to sneak into her room quietly. She is in real mental turmoil here and in a strong denial mode. Will she be able to cross that dreaded line of fear into a happiness zone ? I suspect that when father Vyas realises this one day, he and Jiji will help her take this step. He is a tough man but straight-forward. Maybe will not immediately happen without some tantrums but could be down the road in a few months.

Till such time let us enjoy this brilliant depiction of Megha's trauma by Akanksha. Let us not forget we do come across individuals even today in our Indian society who are afraid of that extra happiness in a life of sorrow.
