Chapter 1: A Plan for an Easy Life
The story begins with Dev still sleeping in the upstairs room even after sunrise. Akshay and Madhvi went to his room to wake him up.
Dev: Let me sleep. Please don't trouble me.
Akshay + Madhvi: Dad is coming upstairs to see if you are ready. If he sees you like this, he will go mad. So hurry up and get ready.
Dev: Is it? Thanks for informing me.
Akshay: Thank me after you get a job. Madhvi, you got some addresses. Give it to him.
Madhvi gets the job vacancies.
Akshay: For your qualification, there are so many vacancies. You would have got more opportunities if you had improved your qualifications. These days, only a degree isn't enough. But you haven't even completed your degree. Get ready now. Dad wants to talk to you.
Dev hurriedly got ready and went downstairs. To his surprise, he doesn't find Angad there. However, Vrinda comes there.
Dev: Where is Big B?
Vrinda: He has gone to his shop. He asked you to meet him there.
Dev: In that case, I am going to his shop now.
Vrinda: First, have your breakfast.
Dev: No, I need to meet him. Otherwise, he'll go mad.
Vrinda: If you don't eat properly, you will fall sick. So please have your breakfast.
Dev finishes his breakfast and meets Angad in his store.
Angad: Are you coming now?
Dev: I am sorry for the delay.
Angad gave him the card and said, "There is a requirement in L & T for a customer support post. I know the HR there. She will guide you with the steps. So, it will be a definite job for you."
While Dev was about to leave, Angad stopped him and said, "Do you have money? If yes, take this as an emergency."
Dev stands outside.
Meanwhile, at Dhangiri House, Kalyani's wedding gets fixed with Tejas. The family knows Angad as both a supervisor and a friend. He gave a good testimonial to Prataprai Dhangiri, who had become his regular customer. Saloni goes to Angad's store to buy sarees for Kalyani and herself. She picks up sarees for Kalyani but is torn about which to choose for herself.
Saloni said to the counter salesperson, "Can I go to the trial room?"
Salesperson: Sure.
Saloni goes out and puts on a saree.
She sees Dev's cue and realizes the color isn't good enough for her.
Saloni went inside, took out a white saree, and tried it on. Dev indicated that it suits her.
Saloni takes the white saree to the shop, asks them to pack the selected sarees, and leaves.
Dev gets on the bus but doesn't find a seat. He looks at the chits and decides to go to the places that Akshay and Madhvi gave him.
He gets off the bus and finds a fortune teller with a parrot that predicts everyone's future.
The tarot reader said, "Pick up one of the cards."
Dev picks up one of the cards and gives it to the tarot reader.
The tarot reader gives the card to the parrot. He said, "In the coming days, you will have a bright future. You will become very rich. You will be in a 20-story building, traveling in a BMW.
Dev imagines himself living a luxurious life.
The tarot reader further said, "You will be marrying a rich girl and acquire these."
Dev starts daydreaming.

All of them dance in the garden. The parrot sits on Dev's shoulders. The dance continues. All young and older people dance. The parrot flies back to the cage.

Dev danced on the goods truck and the trees. A large crowd gathered and admired him.
Dev returns home. Vrinda gives him the snacks. He sat comfortably on the sofa, lazily scrolling through his phone while munching on snacks.
Vrinda asked, "What happened in the interview?"
Dev: I tried in many places, but I got rejected. The office had 7 floors. All lifts were occupied. I climbed the staircases and got exhausted. Upon arriving, one of the interviewers asked, "Who is Jaganath Puri?" I was completely exhausted and wasn't in my senses. So I answered that he is known for making pooris.
His elder brother Angad returned from work and saw him in the same position he had left him in the morning.
The Sharma household in Mumbai was unusually tense that morning. Angad arrived at home.
He asked, "Can you think about anything beyond food? You didn't put in any effort, which is why you got rejected."
Vrinda: Let him take some breath. You are scolding him immediately after returning.
Did you go to the address that I gave you?"
Dev: I went there, but the HR wasn't there.
Angad: I called her. She told me that she waited for two and a half hours, but Dev didn't turn up.
Dev: I was on my way, but suddenly the auto rickshaw met with an accident.
Angad's patience finally snapped. He said, "Lies! All lies. He's always ready with excuses. Unless he asks for a job, how will he get one? Will people give him the job at our doorstep? The boys and the girls of his age are getting jobs. He is the only one who is idle. Despite knowing everything, you say that I am after him. How long is this going to continue?"
Vrinda: It's not his fault.
Dev: What happened now, Bhai? It's very hard to get a job, as people often hire based on influence. Do they take people related to them? They give jobs to those who bribe them.
Angad: Are we dead to you? Do you think I don't have any links?
Dev: You talk in multiple ways. Which one should I take? I am also ready to work for the army and give up my life for the country.
Vrinda: Don't say that. It's your enemy who will die.
Angad: That's dramatic. He's come up with one more lie.
Vrinda: Angad, calm down. Why are you getting so angry?
Angad: Because someone has to be serious in this house.
He turned to Dev.
Angad: Listen carefully. You need to find a job this month. Start trying from today.
Dev frowned.
Dev: Bhai, jobs don't fall from the sky.
Angad: Then go and find one.
Dev: I'll try.
Angad: Not "try." You will attend every interview properly. If you miss an interview on purpose, I will stop your pocket money.
Dev sat upright.
Dev: Pocket money?
Angad: And if you still refuse to work, you will not stay in this house. Only then will you know that life isn't as simple as you think.
Vrinda was shocked.
Vrinda: What are you talking about? He is your brother and our responsibility.
Angad: I know exactly what I am doing.
He pointed toward their children, Madhvi and Akshay, who were studying nearby.
Angad: We both work and have limited income. I'm handling the offline side, and you are marketing our products online. Should we take care of him forever or focus on our children?
Vrinda remained silent.
Angad: You have always protected him and spoiled him. I can't take this anymore.
Dev rolled his eyes.
Dev: Fine. I'll look for a job.
Angad: Good. Start today.
The next morning, Dev dressed up reluctantly.
Vrinda handed him a lunchbox.
Vrinda: At least attend the interviews sincerely.
Dev smiled.
Dev: Of course, Bhabhi.
The moment he stepped outside, his smile disappeared.
Dev: Job hunting... what a waste of a beautiful day.
He wandered through the streets of Mumbai.
After walking for nearly an hour, he suddenly noticed a lavish wedding hall decorated with flowers and lights.
Dev's eyes sparkled.
Dev: Now this looks interesting.
A mischievous smile appeared on his face. He gatecrashes the wedding hall, not knowing that Angad got an invitation.
Inside the wedding hall, guests were enjoying delicious food and music.
Dev confidently entered as if he belonged there. However, it doesn't go unnoticed by Angad.
He grabbed a plate and began eating.
Dev: Much better than interviews.
While roaming around, he overheard two older men talking.
Guest 1: Tejas is a lucky fellow.
Guest 2: Absolutely. Imagine living with such wealthy in-laws.
Dev's ears perked up.
Guest 1: Kalyani's parents only have two daughters. Tejas will stay with them after marriage.
Guest 2: He won't have to worry about anything.
Dev nearly choked on his juice.
Dev: Stay with the in-laws... no responsibilities... comfortable life...
His eyes widened.
Dev: This is genius.
Just then, he noticed a beautiful young woman arranging books on a nearby table meant for guests.
Guest 1 continued.
Guest 1: That's Kalyani's younger sister, Saloni.
Dev followed the man's gaze.
Dev froze.
Dev: Younger sister?
Guest 2: Still unmarried.
A slow grin spread across Dev's face.
Dev: Unmarried and from a wealthy family.
He straightened his shirt.
Dev: Dev Sharma, your future has arrived.
A few minutes later, Saloni was helping some guests when Dev approached her.
Marriage rituals take place. Tejas and Kalyani get married.
Dev: Excuse me.
Saloni turned.
Saloni: Yes?
Dev smiled charmingly.
Dev: I just wanted to say that weddings usually have beautiful decorations, but today they face tough competition. By the way, the saree you chose on my recommendation suits you well. My taste is always right.
Saloni blushed.
Saloni: Was that a compliment?
Dev: A very sincere one.
Saloni smiles
Saloni: You seem very confident.
Dev: Confidence is free. Why not use it?
Saloni smiled despite herself.
At that moment, a middle-aged man joined them.
Saloni: Papa, this is...
Dev immediately stepped forward.
Dev: Dev Sharma.
The man smiled politely.
Saloni: Papa, this is my father.
Dev folded his hands respectfully.
Dev: Namaste, Uncle.
Saloni's father nodded.
Father: Nice meeting you, son.
Dev quickly began speaking about books, current affairs, and social issues. Though he was mostly improvising, he spoke confidently enough to impress both of them.
Father: You speak very well.
Dev: Thank you, Uncle. My brother always says communication is important.
Father: That's true.
Saloni found him entertaining and intelligent.
For the rest of the evening, Dev remained close to the family and left only after making sure everyone remembered him.
As he walked home, he looked at the stars.
Dev: Forget job hunting.
He grinned.
The next day, Angad said, "You got the second opportunity to attend the interview. Did you go?"
Dev: I went there, but the person in question was not there. I got some information that he had gone to the wedding. So I went there.
Angad: Yes, and you had a gala time having free food at the wedding hall.
Angad to Vrinda: From now onwards, no pocket money. Don't even pack the food for him. Only then will he understand how expensive things have become.
Angad to Dev: Get out of the house. Please don't show me your face until you have a job.
Dev steps out thinking, "If everything goes according to plan, I might never need a job again."
A week later, Dev entered a public library with DVD players to escape another scheduled interview.
He lazily browsed through the shelves when he suddenly noticed a familiar face.
Saloni approached the woman enquiring about an old song by a reputed singer.
The salesgirl said, "That audio is no longer available. You can find it online.
Saloni gets disappointed. However, it doesn't go unnoticed by Dev.
Saloni goes out.
Dev met her and said, "Destiny clearly makes us meet again and again."
He walked toward her.
Saloni looked up and smiled.
Saloni: Wedding guest?
Dev: This is our third meeting. The first time we met was near the shop. The second time at the wedding hall.
Saloni: Yes, you are right, and this can never be a coincidence.
She smiled
Saloni: What are you doing here?
Dev: I brought something for you. Open it.
Saloni opens the gift, inserts it into the audio, and plays it.
Saloni: You are amazing. You brought it so quickly, which I couldn't.
The conversation flowed naturally.
They discussed novels, travel, movies, and life in Mumbai.
For the first time, Dev actually enjoyed talking to someone.
Saloni: You're different from most people.
Dev: Is that a compliment?
Saloni: Maybe.
Dev smiled.
Across the room, Saloni's father, Prataprai, who had come to pick her up, noticed them talking happily.
He welcomed Dev to his house. The latter served him with all his heart to impress him.
A thoughtful expression crossed Pratap's face. He said to Saloni, "The guy is very good. Do you like him?"
Saloni nods, but says, "I don't know what he feels about me."
Meanwhile, Dev felt increasingly confident.
His plan seemed to be working perfectly.
What he didn't realize was that pretending to be someone else would eventually become far more complicated than he had imagined.
