Well I don't understand the exact way things work wrt technical changes on I-F but yes as a member I feel that its HIGH TIME I-F took some measures to make this website safe for browsing n also something MUST be done about giving away power to every DT member especially when the DT selection process is not exactly of a great standard or is foolproof, true this site DID manage to get some GEM Moderators but not all of them are that trust worthy.

Rinky...on the contrary,we are sure that the DT members are getting access to our IP address and all personal details.thats how the personal info and IP addresses of few members were leaked actually.which is why we need to be cautious about posting here.mask ur own IP using proxies

Hi All,

First of all this IP thing is getting blown out of proportion. Someone knowing the IP cant do anything except knowing the person's City and the ISP the person might be using.

One cannot find the Street level, browser, operating system information. Like I said I am posting my IP : 59.182.178.30. (If someone probes it will just tell that it is Bombay (India) and I am using MTNL broadband. I dont consider it a security threat.

There are few things one should be careful about using internet are:

a) not to download and run any executable file from untrusted source.

b) Keep a good anti-virus software

c) Use licensed operating system and keep it updated and patched regularly.

d) Do not share personal information with people whom you do not know much.

For most of the users this is Dynamic and it changes everytime one connects to the internet.

So lets not create a sense of fear and panic among the users and giving ideas like using Proxies. As please remember that using Proxies are rather more unsafe as they can easily cache all your data (including passwords) as all information is getting passed through their system.

If you do not have a bad intent then you have no reason to worry also.

Regards,
Vijay Bhatter

Im not sure if you are reading this. ISP can also be found using IP addresses..

You can look at my IP now I wont put it up. Look at it from any IP finder, it will specify the name of my school. I consider that a pretty sensitive information even though I am not doing anything I consider not worth doing. there are many people here who browse from their office/school and that information is leakable.

If there is an MID finder from vbulletin, is that not safer than give IP access to all mods?
