There are quite a few versions of Ramayan...and each one of them differs in some way from the next one...so it is very difficult to say I guess with definitive proof what is true and what is not!

No, this is not true. Lakshman and Urmila's happiest phase of life was in Uttar Kand, because they were together after 14 years of separation and had two sons, both of whom went on to become great Kings.

After Ram orders Lakshman to send Sita for exile , Lakshman has a huge fight with Rama , where he takes vow that he will never return to Ayodhya again without Sita accompanying him .

After he takes her to forest , Sita tells lakshman to go back to ayodhya to take care of ram as he too will be broken inside .

Just like Lakshman drew rekha for sita , Sita draws one for him and tells him not to follow her beyond the rekha.

Lakshmana is now in a state of worry , as he cannot deny Sita's command to go back , but since as a raghuvanshi he made a vow not to return , he cant go back either without her .

Hence , on his way back from forest , he attempts suicide by lighting a pyre and burning himself.

But at the same time Rishi vashist comes and stops him from doing so and tells him that it is a sin to commit suicide . After telling the rishi full story , Vashisht explains to him that it was a curse that lord vishnu got due to which it was his destiny to be separated from his wife .

Only after realising that Rama couldn't have done anything else in the matter , he return to ayodhya.

Okay putris! I am back...had a kanth bhar kar bhojan so I am quite energized!

I see people talking about Kavita Kane's book, I have to make this confession that it is an incomplete book...She just published it because she had to! I've never come across a book so blotched as this one...Urmila was hardly there and no in case you people are expecting a fire-brand woman then let me tell you you'll find none! Even Sita had a certain vampish streak in her!!😕

So I just went through all the episodes that have Lakshman-Urmila scenes from ndtv ramayan and took the liberty of posting the links and timings.

If any of you are interested in viewing their scenes from that show, you can find them here.

Yes, it's mentioned by Valmiki that after Ram rules for 11,000 years, his mothers and the wives of the three brothers all die with the passage of time, and then their sons become Kings.
