It is always said that the real world is a challenge for a person having conscience. Especially if the person has to occupy a position of power. The conscience that can always make you see the pain, the conscience that always want to wipe the tear of other feels trapped in the rules and customs of the real world.
And today's epi young Ram faced the conflict. He is just back from Gurukul. A place where they have been taught equality. But in the real world he sees inequalities. Even for meeting the king the wealthy and the mightly gets preference. Money is spend on building landscapes, while a woman stands behind unable to tell her grievance to the king. The prince breaks from inside but follows the decorum of following his father. Then he asks his father has he gone in the midst of the people, has he tried to understand the problem. His father tells a king cannot do that. He has to be objective. He needs to keep a distance from the praja. Because there will be conflicting demands and he cannot satisfy everyone. The youngster breaks more. His conscience is unable to take the reasoning. The picture of the lady's pain refuses to go from his head.

And I would say this is the start of the journey towards maturity for a boy. The questions that burn inside him that needs answers and from those answers the mature young man has to emerge who can take the mantle of Ayodhya.

Because there is truth in what Dasrath said. Raja has to keep a distance. But at the same time that distance should not hinder right information reaching Raja. Raja has to ensure he has in his council people representing all sections of society. Because the problems differ from section to section. Also Raja has to evolve ways and means to validate the information he gets. He cannot take decisions based on hearsay. It is a tight rope a King has to walk. Justice has to be delivered to the right. But at the same time rules has to be observed. It will be a very difficult path to reach that fine balance. A journey which he will never be able to take alone without the support of a able partner who understands him and his difficulties.

And I was touched by the episode. Seeing Ram breaking, I too broke because I could place myself in his position. The girl who was unable to pray in temple because there were so many beggars outside. In front of her closed eyes the idol of God didnt come, but the sufferings of those people came. Instead of asking something to God all she wanted was to help those. But then as she grow up she heard about beggar mafia, how children were used by this mafia for their benefits, giving them alms may be supporting beggar mafia, about beggars who were free loading and yes she was confused. How to help, whom to help, how to identify genuine need because she understood her conscience is being exploited.
And that journey to find the balance still continues, though that young girl has evolved a lot. Indian mythology has played a great role in my journey especially Bhagavad Gita and Mahabharath. And in Ramayana I am looking much more. Answers to lot of my still unanswered questions.

Amazing take of a beautiful episode.
Feel, Sat'days are dedicated to the most beautiful episodes.

Have no words, to say., you have said it all.

The writers have once again done an amazing job...with showing logic and truth in Dasharath's words too.

The conflict and distress is beautifully portrayed by the actor playing Rama.

Curious to see, how and what answer he would get .

--------

Could very well connect to the princes not feeling at home, suddenly, inside the palace and on the fluffy mattresses, wearing silks and ornaments. , not able to sleep. Very natural...for the boys, who had spent most of the childhood in an ashram.

Loved this tiny scene., for its genuine feel., that it gave.

Lovely post dear...
Raja dasrath is fulfilling his praja's need but that help didn't reach each and every section..like in today episode it's for businessman and for brahmans but that old lady who was not one of these sections still helpless and her demand still not acknowledged...
Raja dasrath point is also right if he satisfies one's need other will be unsatisfied and vice versa..but once a walk in Praja iS not harmful...
But for ram pain of old lady breaks him as in gurukul he learns to treat each section equally...

Still learning lot of new things and looking forward...

@adi that scene was beautiful. But that was also symbolic of the princes need to transform from open equitable life style to closed unequitable style of living. And yes it is difficult. The place where you have so much things for company and open air, suddenly with all riches you are alone.
Thank you Neira dear. I guess that is your name. More people reading means more interest to write. 😃

I like ur take shruthi. I think here the main problem was the security who denied the entry to the front for the poor old lady. Yes, he followed the order of his superior but the chain goes on and on. So it was either the king or the minister who passed the order of such an arrangement. Thus it means either he does not want to hear the problems of poor or it means he fulfilled the wishes of people according to their status. I knew Dhasarath was never a king with such ignorance. So here i feel to raise the image of Lord Ram they have ruined the character of dhasarath. It was not the problem of seating arrangement even he could have waited long to listen to the rest of the people.
In a way Dhasarath was right, Ram tried to give importance to even the washerman which forced him to send sita to forest.
Our ancestors and our customs are absolutely perfect but seriously our understanding is wrong.

I liked the way how sita changed the mood of her sisters.

Yes...and this emotion too is correctly portrayed by Rama...even w/o words.

Also, His thoughtful look towards the star filled sky, told us that he sensed , though they are all happy and are sure to have a peaceful sleep, this night , it cannot become a habit. They will have to get accustomed to the required etiquette now.

@Ramya,

Here I have a slightly different opinion.

Sure Dasharath is a great king. But still , we cannot deny the fact that Rama as a king is more able king.

There is for some reason, that a near perfect Rajya is given the name " RamaRajya "., where there is equality, peace and happiness every where, through all sections.

So, there are few of these points even Dasharath had overlooked, which would have been later taken care by Rama.

As per my understanding Raghuvamsi's are mostly known for the adherence to their 'vachan' and Dasharath was one such king, who indeed kept up to that tradition, in addition to being a good King.

But he was never equated with Rama.

I hope I made sense 😕

I understand that Dhasarath was not equalto Ram, but the king dhasarath who understood the problem of mithila people was not aware of his own people problem does not seems to be acceptable.
