Dasharath & Mithila - I think I've missed on this scene.

However, what I feel is, if Dasharath was an audience to these common people's problems, he would have certainly solved those.

But he was not able to have such a scenario.

Becoz, the major loophole is that the section of common ppl, never had their turn...they never got becoz the security placed them at the last. Maybe the ppl had representatives, but how sincerely they were doing their job is questionable. Just like the scenario in current times..

There is a saying - Even if God is ready to grant a boon, the priest will not allow.

Common ppl didn't have a strong voice.

There was inequality shown there, which Dasharath would have never got to know, and since he never went into the ppl, he did not realize their suffering.

And, when Rama questioned this, the answer given by him is not very illogical. He had his own reasons.

But now, its upto Rama , how he will erase this inequality among various sections.

@bold: I feel, its the inefficiency in administration more than attitude of dhasarath.

Lovely post. The interaction between Dashrath and Ram was awesome. Both are right in their own way, but both having different views. Dashrath though he was a great king couldn't feel the pain of the old woman wheread Ram felt the pain and wanted to help her. Ram had learnt to treat everyone equally and therefore he couldn't bear to be a mere spectator. Dashrath was not able to reach the praja and this is the inefficiency of a king. But, Ram on the other hand has different thoughts.

@ramya Dasarath is not butchered. If it was butchering they would have shown arrogance by him to ram questioning. But there has been inefficiencies in his administration. You can't compare him providing help to mithila with this inefficiency. See even our government sends relief to quake hit Nepal. But how many people still suffer here

@adi that scene was beautiful. But that was also symbolic of the princes need to transform from open equitable life style to closed unequitable style of living. And yes it is difficult. The place where you have so much things for company and open air, suddenly with all riches you are alone.

Thank you Neira dear. I guess that is your name. More people reading means more interest to write. 😃

I am Aayushi.

Please try to post your take everyday. It's beautiful just like the episode.

Even this shows the difference btw Dhasrath and Ram
Dhasarath helped Mithila financially
But remember the words of Ram
If he were the King he would have gone to Mithila to share their pain

The problem here is Dhasrath is not a bad King
But not a great King either
He feels that everyone is happy in Ayodhya
After all it's Ayodhya his prosperous kingdom
Nothing can go wrong
People around him all seem happy in his Kingdom
He didn't feel the need to mingle with common man

@ shruthi, lovely take. The boys are for sure not comfortable at the royal palace as they can see the discrimination but still there is difference between running a Gurukul and running a state. The Guru has to be liberal and to treat all his pupil as equal and also has to teach the same to his students. But king can't treat all his praja in a similar way. He has to keep the Brahmins and pandits happy and provide all the necessity so that they pray wholeheartedly for the betterment of the state which includes all the praja and the king. He needs to take care of the business people so that they pay teh tax on time and the state doesn't face fund problems to take care of the expenses. For all I know, king Dashrath might not even know that there are poor and helpless people in his state and taht is teh reason he declared that the Praja are more than happy in his state. Normally when ever a King travels in road, that will be kept clean and intact and evacuated of the praja. Only those who praise his goodness will be lined up on the sides of the road to chant his deeds. So the king may not even know the reality of his praja. Even today that is what is happening, whenever a VVIP is visiting some place, all teh roads lead to that place will get makeover and traffic will be re-rooted to some other roads that the VIP doesn't feel the heat of traffic jam which a common man face on a day to day basis. As the king said yes, he can't satisfy each and every one as the good for one person might hurt the other person and that is the reason he said a good for one person may look as athyachar to the other but it will be like that. All those poor people Ram & his brother's witnessed was probably a slippage of some official who had not bothered to clear the poor and disabled from the vicinity of the princes route.

Though all the brothers felt the inequality of the assembly, the youngsters thought of escaping from the same as soon as possible and that is how they went away from their father, so that they can refresh their minds with whatever they like. But Ram the one who was touched with this sick and aged could not get over of what ever he saw since his return. Though he was not so convinced with his father's answer, his shishtachar didn't allow him to talk furtehr. So I was expecting a meeting of him with Jabaali and that was shown in the precap.

With regard to beggars, my grand parents taught us the best way to treat a beggar that is to feed him and never give money. even today, if some one comes near our home and ask for something, I will ensure to give food and not money. And if I find a beggar near by a restaurant, I will buy some food and pass on that parcel to the one who ask for alms than give him money to buy the food. Practice that and you will find peace of helping a needy.

Yes Jaya. I also kind of follow your rule only. Give food or support a young child by buying the wares he or she trying to sell. It may be dolls, bangles, flowers anything. I may not need it, but then instead of free loading the child is trying to do something in its capacity to alleviate them from poverty. So I have felt we should be respecting the trial of the child.
My mom sometimes tells don't need the wares, but give money for the food. I say respect the child, he or she doesn't want alms that is why they are selling things. So buy and give money. That will enhance the child's self worth.

i half expected ram to call the old woman at the end of the sabha & ask for her problem.
but then i remembered this is Ram not Krishna. He will not take decisions where his father is there to make them. Even if he dint agree with his father giving respect & maintaining his word were more important to ram than anything else. Krishna had his own way of not disrespecting yet getting what he wanted to do through his charm. There is contrast even between the two avatars of lord vishnu

Ram is very much being shown as a human here his conscience tells him something is wrong but he bides by the rules & dosent do anything against it. And this is what most of us do & most kids who are new to a certain thing would do. Ram would not become a pro instantly at how affairs of the kingdom are managed.

Also i feel what dashrath said would also be true for ram in the coming time. Ram would establish a rajya where everyone would be heard & he would reach the common man. but then that freedom to the common man is what would result in the dhobi questioning ram & abandonment of sita.

the real world is a challenge for a person having conscience. <<<this is so true
