And I litterally wrote, on this very post as reply to comment, that Kunal also deserves to move on. With someone he hasnt cheated on. And i have also already mentioned that its not about Kunals apology. It is about Moulis forgiveness and more importantly love. (Page 5 of this post)
So, stop making it sound like as if we (whoever that might be) are not lettibg Kunal even live. Noone is asking Kuna to even apologise. He said some words of regret after confrontation only to be a total jerk after that. And now he is fine. He moved on, is happy in life with his daughter. Good. But the narrative that Kunal has suffered enough for his action is not true. He suffered in life but he never faced consequences of his actions. But thats the opposite of what many (I assume most) viewers want. We dont want him to suffer in life and we want him to regret his EMA. He needed to face consequenced of his action. There is a difference there. Its too late to show the consesquences now tho. the best the makers can do is make them go seperate ways. And I have maintained this pov in every post. I dont know if I am not being clear but this has been point and I have done my best to explain it.
Hey Looseseal, this is in direct response to your post and nothing that preceded it. But you brought up some really good points, as always.
Thus far the things that have happened to Kunal are:
1.) He lost his family - direct consequence of his EMA, but he chose this. Meaning Dida told him to work it out, but he chose to leave them and still be with Nandini knowing full well if he stepped out of the house, they would not accept him back. So I wouldn't necessarily see this as a consequence, rather a choice.
2.) Nandini died/he became a single father - This is unfortunate and sad, yes. But it wasn't a direct consequence of the EMA, i.e. Nandini didn't get cancer as a direct result of the EMA.
3.) Pari got kidnapped/he got shot which led to amnesia - This had more to do with him hiding that Mishti-Pari were sisters, Mishti unintentionally breaking the news to Pari, Pramilla not watching over Pari carefully enough, Sandhya and Sweety telling a 4 year old such things and not making sure she left with an adult, and Pari herself making the choice to roam the streets without a chaperone. Again, not a direct consequence or form of "punishment" for the EMA.
Is luck tough on him? Absolutely. Am I sympathetic towards him? Of course. But does this absolve him of his sin. No, it doesn't.
Like you said, he apologized to Mauli for a couple of episodes for hurting her, but not for the EMA/falling in love with Nandini etc. (his emotions and actions). But then he accused her of kidnapping Nandini, questioned her pregnancy, etc. so those apologies went down the drain.
Then he apologized during the Camp Track, but Mauli was passed out drunk. And even then he maintained "Tum apni jagah sahi thi, mein apni jagah sahi tha." Again, not owning up to the wrong that he did. He is basically holding the stance that hurting Mauli's feeling was wrong/it wasn't his intention to break her, but the EMA was not wrong since it led him to the real love of his love.
The only thing he should do at this point is actually regret it, which is why the amnesia track makes sense. So he can start from the beginning and realize the path he went down - which will, I think, lead to his formation of regret/remorse, which so far has been absent completely from the show.
And once he regrets it, it is up to Mauli to forgive him and think about if she really wants that life of 6 years ago back again, or if it will be an illusion and it can never be the same. Or she thought she wanted it back (it would be the easier choice for her) but now she realizes everything happens for a reason and she loves Ishaan now.
And who knows, maybe Kunal himself will not want to be with Mauli again, even after regret/remorse. Maybe he will feel like he is not worthy of her/will be disgusted with himself, or maybe he will still maintain at the end that he is really sorry and regrets the EMA and wishes it never happened, but because it did and he was married to Nandini for 4/6 years, he did truly love her and she is the love of his life whether alive or dead.
