Vaanathai Pola 254

Jeeva had insisted that Raman go home and rest well after his tiring trip to Israel and back but he had put his foot down and had decided to stay back.

' Jeeva, why do you want me to go home and sleep when instead I can sleep with all three of you, whom I love the most in this world.'

She grabbed his long, shapely nose and shaking it playfully said, 'Baby, you know how new-borns are and their moods and their times. I don't want them to wake you up and disturb your sleep and not now when you have something lined up for the next few days which will call upon a lot of your mental and physical resources.'

Combing the wavy hair that had fallen on his forehead using her fingers, Jeeva looked at him, ' I have to worry about you too. Our babies are important, I agree but you too are as important and so is your health and welfare. Just because I have delivered does not mean I will stop caring about you and worrying about you.'

Raman saw with fascination as her swollen left breast began to spout milk and he looked at her and Jeeva with a smile pointed to the twins and just like that both of them came awake and began to holler loudly.

Raman raised the bed's elevation and after Jeeva had sat up in the right position, gently picked up the babies one by one and placed them in the crook of her elbow.

Both the babies immediately latched on to her nipples and began to suckle loudly and with a serene expression on her face.

Sighing happily, he looked at Jeeva, ' Imagine these angels being here in our midst and all because our bodies came together.'

' Objection, advocate Raman because our souls came together. Because our eyes came together and because our paths came together.'

' Objection sustained, my beautiful wife' Raman declared and tapped the table imitating a judge and his gavel.

' I am sorry baby. I wish I had returned earlier and wish that I had never taken this trip to Israel. But, it was a matter of great importance and that which concerns our nation's security.'

He saw that a few strands from her long black mane had fallen across her left breast and was tickling and irritating Vijay's face and so he leaned over and slowly removed the hair and pushed it back over her shoulder.

Slowly pushing aside the hospital gown away from her shoulders, which left her upper body totally naked, Raman murmured, ' Wow, your breasts look even more beautiful than before' and looking at the twins, joked, ' enjoy my children. Where my lips once were your lips are now locked on and it looks like you have taken over them totally.'

She looked at him and winked and said, ' but both of them are still your properties and so, please hold them, cup them and run your strong, sexy fingers over them whenever you feel like it.'

' OMG! Jeeva, please, don't torture me sweetie' Raman groaned and slowly sank into the chair that was right next to the bed.

' Ram, there is something I think you need to know about Kavita and Radhu' Jeeva said and the words and the tone in which they were said immediately caught his full attention and he looked at her and asked, ' What do I have to know about them?'

If there was one virtue that marked Raman and set him apart and differentiated him from others, it was his patience. His immense patience that stemmed naturally from tolerance and from a mind-set which sooner than later, made people realize and understand that he was a man who never jumped to conclusions, refused to arrive at a quick judgement about men and their matters and firmly believed that one should never come to any assumptions without knowing the whole facts about a situation and another person.

Raman often used the terms " Reasonable doubt, innocent until proven guilty" which were also his sacred belief and mantra that guided his life and his approach when dealing with others.

Jeeva knew Raman very well and as well as one soul can know about another soul. But then it is near impossible to know everything for the soul is like the eternal and infinite sky and like the title of our story, Vaanathai Pola. She appreciated his patience and respected this virtue totally. But, it could be infuriating and frustrating sometimes for unlike others, he never prompted or questioned and always preferred to wait for the person to speak their mind and finish their piece.

It is that moment when a person is telling another person something that he or she thinks is important and is doing so with great enthusiasm and excitement and all the while the listener does nothing but sit and stare without any outward show of feeling or emotion but for a concentrated gleam in their eyes.

Raman took this listening of his to another level and had been teased about it from his childhood days and then jokingly named as the " tranquil Buddha " by all who came to know him.

Jeeva stared at him and Raman reading her eyes and irritation joked placatingly, ' Baby, how am I supposed to know what you are thinking or what you saw and understood until you have shared it with me. You are the one who has suddenly and rather creepily turned into a mind reader, and here I am, still struggling to come to grips with that, and now, you expect me to read your mind.'

' You don't have to read my mind to egg me on to finish what I started saying when it is bloody well clear to you that it is something important and of great significance.'

Raman casually shrugged his broad shoulders and spread his hands in an answer ' hence, I wait in silence for you to finish saying it.'

Jeeva glared at him and Radhu raising his hands in a show of defeat, ' Okay, your honour, please tell me what it is that I am supposed to know about Kavita and Radhu.'

Jeeva smiled and relaxing a bit looked up and her eyes and face clouded up in a mixed set of emotions and expressions and shaking her head as if it was not clear to her, she looked at Raman, ' Kavita is pregnant.'

The words surely had an effect on Raman for Jeeva saw his normal and natural composed expression change and take shape as an expression of joy, peace and then it changed into curiosity, bewilderment tinged with fear and concern.

' That is great news, Jeeva but when did you she tell you that?' and leaning forward, ' i was right here the whole time and I did not hear her saying that.'

Getting up, he stood looking worriedly at her, ' Did she message you before coming here?'

Then he spoke to himself, shaking his head, ' not possible, nearly impossible' and then looked at her and asked her, ' Is it possible?'

Jeeva confusedly, ' She did not message me baby and she did not whisper it to me here.'

Raman smiled and his face now had just one expression and its name was fear and his voice too revealed fear and nervousness as he asked, ' then how and when ?'

' I saw it, Ram. I saw and felt the aura around her womb and felt another life inside her.'

This was too much even for Raman and he sank into the chair again and looked at her,' Jeeva, what is going on here and what the bloody hell has been done to you?'

youth vs real youth

My gym coach never fails to push me, motivate me to better my body and after years of trying repeatedly and failing, he finally gave up a few years ago declaring, ' You can do better but...'. Then he entered his 40s about the time I was exiting my 40s and one day he looked at me and said, ' sir, a few years back you said something and I happened to remember it yesterday and thought how true the words were.'

' Master, I am a motor mouth and so have said countless things' I quipped honestly and he shaking his head, said,' The hospital scene in Salangai oli' and it came back instantly to me.

Salangai oli aka Sagarasangamam is a film directed by K.Vishwanath ( God of films) and it had Kamal and Jaya pradha in the lead. I will not go into the detail and come to the scene just before the climax in which. Kamal aka Balu endra Balakrishnan is dying due to liver problems brought on by his alcohol addiction.

Lying in the hospital bed, Balu weak and critical is teaching Jayapradha's daughter how to dance and is perfecting her technique. The chief doctor tries to stop Kamal from exerting himself but Kamal says that he is more interested in saving his soul and passing on his knowledge to his new student than saving his mortal life.

I looked at my gym coach and he looked back at me and we both nodded wisely and he asked, ' Beacha sir?' and I replied, ' yes, master. Catch the morning sun, feed my furry friends on fours and feathery friends on wings.'

At some point in your life, you realize your juices have matured and are now frothing and bubbling, ready to finally erupt with thought and with new life.

SOUL vs Body. Youth vs Real youth.

The youth and adulthood that Mother Nature blessed us with mostly for procreation and for work slips past and the new youth of thought, soul and wisdom unsheaths itself and creation starts.

Procreation vs creation.

' I don't know Ram, really and I am as confused as you are right now about this whole thing' Jeeva said and Raman sighed and looked at her, ' Just when we think one problem is over and hope that we can get on with our lives like normal people do, this happens' he said and then remembering something, ' okay, Kavita is pregnant. But, you mentioned something about Radha Krishnan. What about him? what did you read from his mind?'

' Nothing. I got nothing from him and I don't know why' Jeeva replied and tried to recollect if she had missed any cues or clues that might explain to her why she had been unable to read his particular mind.

' One thing I am sure about and absolutely certain is that he is a nice guy and a person whom we can trust implicitly.'

Raman agreed, ' That is a given and accepted fact Jeeva for Kavita has chosen him and from what I know about Kavita, she is not one who trusts and accepts anyone so easily. Let alone fall in love with a person after just a few meetings.'

She looked at him and smiled and Raman asked, ' what? what is that smile for?'

' No, at least they both did not waste three years travelling in buses, waiting for the other to make the first move.'

Raman laughed, ' well ma'am, you will have to forgive me for having taken so much time.'

' Taken your time. Mister advocate, you forget that it was me who was finally forced to make that first move by offering you the empty seat next to me.'

Raman smiled and nodded, ' Touche my lady. But what to do for my parents taught me very little about love and we hardly ever spoke about it.'

Jeeva glared at him, ' by those words do you mean that me and my folk...'

' Sweetie, you know what I meant and you also know that your parents are far bolder and open-minded than mine and one can talk about anything with them.'

' That is true, Ram and that is the beauty for me and Suja never hid anything about ourselves and always spoke openly about it with appa and amma.'

Raman groaned, ' Omg, I cannot begin to imagine all that you sisters spoke and discussed with your parents.'

' I think my appa had the toughest time for he was one man against three women and topics concerning them. But he managed magnificiently and put up with all our crap most of the time. Although he would put his foot down and when that happened, all three of us knew better than to test him.'

Raman got up and then fell to his knees by the bed and gently touched Vijay and Suja and was amazed and moved when both his babies grasped his fingers tightly and refused to let him go.

Jeeva reached out and gently ran her fingers through his thick wavy hair and asked, ' what do we do now, Ram? what do we do about what is happening with me?'

' Nothing baby but go with the flow. I will see if I can track down this little boy and his mother who were here and who seems to have helped you in some mysterious way.'

Raising his eyes from the babies to face hers, ' but why did that child do that and who was he and what brought him here when you were fighting for your life and fighting for the lives of our babies.'

Shaking his head in disbelief, Raman joked, ' then again maybe there is some easy and harmless explanation for this thing that is going on with you and your perceptions and maybe it has nothing to do with that little boy you imagined you saw while you were unconscious.'

' Ram, appa saw him too. Appa saw him with his mother leaving our room. Are you telling me that my dad imagined that too?'

' No, I am not saying that for two people cannot have imagined something and at the same time while one was conscious and the other unconcious.'

Raman cupped her face in both his hands and asked, ' you are okay, right? '

Jeeva's face bloomed with her smile and she nodded, ' I am fine baby and there is nothing to worry about for I feel and sense that some major alignments are going on in our lives and many paths are becoming one for many to walk together.'

She beckoned him closer and gently kissed his lips and then forced her tongue into his and kissed him deeply and mumbled at the same time, ' I just love kissing your mouth and I could spend my whole life doing that.'

Raman pushed her away and said, ' Later but now finish what you just started saying.'

Jeeva nodded, ' I sense in my heart that your path will be the path of Radha Krishnan and that there is some important reason why he has come into our lives and now of all times.'

Found this very interesting...

A study by Dr. Ephrem Cheng, a leading American scholar, on the relationship between *life expectancy and retirement age*. The report looked at several pension plans for U.S. including Boeing, AT&T and Ford Motor Co., and found that the later an executive retires, the shorter his or her life! The statistics are as follows:

Retirement age, age of death

49.9 86

51.2 85.3

52.5 84.6

53.8 83.9

55.1 83.2

56.4 82.5

57.2 81.4

58.3 80

59.2 78.5

60.1 76.8

61 74.5

62.1 71.8

63.1 69.3

64.1 67.9

65.2 66.8

Almost all large organizations are in agreement, and full-time managers who retire at the age of sixty-five usually die within eighteen months! As a result, quite a number of pension reserves have not been claimed. Dr. Cheng then launched a comprehensive survey, and the above statistics concluded that the later you retire, the earlier you die.

Full-time managers face enormous pressure every day, constantly living in the emotional tension, but also need to cling to, so it is easy to push themselves to the edge of collapse. This mental and mental state seriously damages the organs and cells of the body, forming a long-term high-pressure state. Before you know it, your health will be cut short. Thus, at the age of sixty-five, when he retires, he is relieved of all his latent diseases, and within eighteen months he is gone.

The findings have shocked American executives, so they say life is good enough, and they retire at 50. These senior retirees are not totally out of work. They just re-plan their lives and lives, relax and only take part-time and interesting jobs and stop pursuing power and luxury.

According to the survey, the healthy decline of these 50-year-olds after they started their second spring has greatly improved. Many of them did not go to heaven until they were 85 years old. According to the survey, this group of 50-year-old retirees had their health plummeted.

Dr. Cheng pointed out that the sooner you leave the circle of power and money and get rid of the shackles of fame and luxury, the happier you will be and the longer you will be able to live a basic life. Working as a philanthropist, in particular, is more conscious of living meaningfully, and as a result, the immune system is strengthened and the lifeline is prolonged.

All of us are heroes, designed and blessed with superpowers that suit our souls and lives. But, there is one supreme power that all of us come blessed with and that is love and the art and act of forgiveness.

In Milk is butter, curd and Ghee and also cheese, and cream and yet it remains Milk until transformed and until it is required to do so. Our souls too are similar in nature to milk for in it is that sacred ambrosia, nectar called love and which holds inside, giving, forgiving, sacrifice, tolerance and most important of all understanding and realization. The moment you understand and realize not only your own action but the actions of others, be it friend or foe we either act or don't act. Inaction itself is sometimes enough to null and cull words of rage and then we realize that the rage was from pain and you decide to gladly suffer for the one who rages in pain and in the process heal that soul along with your soul.

Thus, Inaction becomes action and rage and pain are absorbed, tolerated and peace prevails.

Melor( good) vs keezhor( bad) = Manu dharma( the only castes and difference in all mankind)

A Warrior knows that an angel and a devil are both competing for his sword hand.

The devil says: "You will weaken. You will not know exactly when. You are afraid." The angel says: "You will weaken. You will not know exactly when. You are afraid."

The Warrior is surprised. Both the angel and the devil have said the same thing.

The devil continues: "Let me help you." And the angel says: "I will help you."

At that moment the Warrior understands the difference. The words may be the same but these two allies are completely different.

And he chooses the angel's hand. Paulo Coelho, Warrior of the Light

Vaanathai Pola 257

Several kms away from the hospital and from Raman, Jeeva and their newborns and inside on of the rooms of The Flock, Radhu sat watching Appu, Pappu and Meena sleeping. He saw Meena's tiny hand thrown protectively over the tiny forms of the other two and thought to himself, ' Allah, you are indeed a merciful God. Here is this child, orphaned at a very young age and carrying dreadful sorrow and scars inside her tender soul and yet she throws her arm in an act of protection around her two companions. Is this also your hand in disguise and has it been around me and my mother all these years?.

He gently pulled the thick quilt even higher and covered the three kids totally to ward away the December chill that had arrived early in Mid-November and was making its presence felt with its cold and clammy paws.

He tried getting up but felt a hand take his own hand and looking down saw it was Meena's and looked at her sleep filled brown eyes.

' Don't go master. Even if it was for just a day and a little more, we missed you terribly.'

Radhu smiled, ' I am not going anywhere soon. But, if work comes calling, can I say no and stay back here?'

Meena's eyes flitted down and up and right and left in thought as her mind pondered over the question that she knew was a simple one but an elemenatary one and her eyes shone brightly as she answered, ' Yes. Stay back and don't go. You work for The Flock and that means you work for us as your duty is with us and with this school.'

Radhu leant back amazed and it was his turn to ponder over Meena' reply that was in fact both a statement and a question.

' My, my, you are a smart one indeed and I best be on my feet while tangling and bandying words and thoughts with you.'

After a few moments of weighing and balancing his thought, he replied, ' you are true that I work for you and The Flock. But, what do I do when others need my help and what if they are kids like you and these two fat monkeys next to you?'

Without hesitating even for a second, Meena shot back, ' then you have to go, Master. For children can't fight for themselves and need help and support from Adults.'

They both looked at each other, recognising that pain and suffering was common to all lives, big and small and yet the very same pain colloborated souls and brought them together.

Radhu smiled to convey to Meena that it would all be okay but his smile lit up her soul and ricocheted straight back to his own soul lighting his with hers and her faith and belief in him and he said softly,' I promise that I will keep you safe and happy. No matter what it takes, I will protect you and will never abandon you all.'

Meena smiled, although deep in her eyes, Radhu could see the circumstances that had led her to become an orphan and his face went grim in anger and rage.

He remembered, Thangamani master, the librarian telling him briefly about the horrors that most children of The Flock had suffered and the savagery they had been witnesses to and he recollected the bombs and bullets in the middle-east and whispered to himself, ' Allah or Shiva, Ram or Rahim matters not for the house of God is one with many doors into it and all of us come with different mothers and fathers and yet we fight over that very true fact that binds us all as one and which is about our creator who is our real mother and father.'

Radhu looked at all three of them with intensity and then he realized that Meena had fallen asleep for he could sense or perhaps hear the steady beat of her heartbeat as it slowed into a peaceful slumber.

He sensed Thangamani masters presence and turned to him but found only empty space and then a few seconds later, the master came to the door and Radhu looked at him with surprise and thought to himself, ' Did I sense him coming to the door before he even came to the door and if that is so, how is that possible and is it all because of what happened in the forest of Perumalvaram when I died and was brought back to life. What is going on with me?'

' Radhu, you have changed' Thangamani master observed standing at the door and continued, ' but the change I feel is for the good and for the better. What happened there in Madurai?'

Far away from them, Little Nikhil slowly got down from the bed, careful not to make any noise and disturb his mother Renuka and stood near the large window and stared out into the darkness and darkness stared back at him with green eyes and both began to speak.

The boy who went into the dark and came back with light.
