We see everyone complaining about the system and how nothing works, but how many of us would come forward and try to be a part of the system to reform it? Obviously, we can't fix a building if stand outside and throw rocks at it. We have to at some point enter the building with some mortar to patch it up.

Just curious to know, how many Anna Hazards and how many JPs we have on this forum! 😃

I would love to be one but I'm an introvert and have zero social skills. Politics require so much hand shaking and I know I'm not that person. I can write a damn good speech though and while I'm a good public speaker I would much prefer to be the right hand man of someone.

@ Axeion=

JOIN politics? The last refuge of scoundrels? You really ARE such an extremist!
I don't have the
1) The vast sum of money needed to ENTER politics
2) I don't have the pliant back needed to kiss the required number of as**s to succeed in politics
3) The patience to deal with the dolts already entrenched.
4) The confidence needed.

May I be excused so I can go back to my armchair in my Ivory Tower?!

But doesn't that mean you're representing someone else's thoughts and not urs? And what if you and the person you represent are not in mutual agreement with each other?

ps - Who says Introverts can't be good politicians.

Zozo...

1. You don't need vast sum of money to enter politics. You need a good intention.
2. You don't need to have a pliant back to kiss the required number of ass**s to succeed in politics. You need a spine to stand up for what you believe is right.

I'll let you take a benefit of doubt on the last two. One definitely needs loads of patience to even see a minute bit of change in our political system today, along with abundance of confidence and integrity to not cave-in to the existing evils. 😃

And no, you're not excused to go back to ur armchair in ur Ivroy Tower? What happened to all those S.Studies lessons in 9th grade huh?

Introvert is a relative term, not absolute. No one ends up being an introvert when you have a political system run by civilized people. How and when get to that civilized political system is completely in our hands. Just make the right use of our Power of Veto 😃

OH Axeion-didn't think you were so idealistically impractical!
1) Good intentions only pave the way to hell-without money, without a God Father/mother you will be left tilting at wind mills in the wilderness-disregarded and unheard.
2) All those who have a spine are automatically excluded from the club of croniesthat MAKE decisions.
3) Social Studies in the 9th Grade were a life time ago-I'm not sure I have 9 years left of life!

SO now please may I go back to my armchair pontificating on how the YOUNGER generation needs to take up cudgels that my generation was unwilling to take up?!

Most politicians are part of a party and the agendas they push forward are discussed before hand and speeches are written for them so even if I take a public role I would still be following the whims of other. I know you mean that bold, enterprising leader who changes the path of the nation when you say politician but I think I am tired of figureheads. I would rather have one collective body of people working together effectively rather than one exceptional, mortal, figurehead.

And I just get cranky when I meet too many people. No one deserves a cranky me unleashed on the public.
