One tongue-twister of a CB, Arshi ji...! 😳 A yet another tour de force from you. Splendid! 👏 Good to know I'm not the only one playing, "Spot the Body Double" games 😆
Finally I go with my bit. The issue was that after a hectic-as week, I watched two episodes back-to-back and I thought that in my achieved momentum, I was 'imposing' my interpretation on narration, rather than vice-versa. I sometimes tend to do that when I get unduly delighted with my 'reads' 😳 So I thought some perspective would be necessary, hence I've come back to epi again today... But still my thoughts don't change =)
Kumud's big reveal... I had a lot of issues with that I've explained in my previous posts. It was clever on one hand, but incredibly foolish on another. Like attempting to stop a crack in a dam with a piece of scotch tape. A temporary, hasty suture when the avalanche has already started. Kumud is only going to get washed away by the sheer force. The 'tease' of a data provided by Kumud has only further whetted Pramad's appetite to find ALL he can about Saraswatichandra. Kumud's 'big reveal' essentially focused on two people. Did she even mention to Pramad why her and Saras' rishta broke? She came close to it while she talked about LN's adultery and the letter Saras' found, but did she actually come out and say? Remember this is the same 'secret' that Alak holds like a weapon over Kumud's head. I doubt she would've actually bitten the bullet here. Not even in good faith. The only thing I liked about the sequence was that it functioned as an ode to "Saraswatichandra"... And the powerful purpose for which it was intercut with Saras and Kusum convo was to highlight that Saraswatichandra, lives on, not in Navinchandra but in Kumud. On one hand, Saras was renouncing and refuting his very existence and on the other Kumud was unabashedly 'celebrating' the man.
Kalika and Kumud: Clash of the Titans. What was NOT equal in that, I wonder? Kalika was protecting her 'turf'... A turf she had nurtured for years with perhaps misinformation and manipulation, but still, it was still her carefully cultivated 'affection' and 'right' Kumud is now hell-bent on usurping. The equation that Kalika and Pramad have, the history, Kumud can never fathom, nor factor in. And Kalika is not just going to let her bulldoze over thirteen long years of hard work. Pramad is her entitlement, she believes and a paper marriage can never best her bond. The interaction though was ROFL-worthy, if you actually thought about what you were seeing. Maid and Malkin squaring off, but Kumud has already lost. Kalika has started gathering irrefutable evidence against her, whilst Kumud is busy believing she is making genuine headway with Pramad. She is not. He is still playing. Still 'pushing her buttons'. Kumud storming off after the Kalika remark has given Pramad the knowledge that as a wife, his mistress is a real sore point with her. Watch him use that, in time. In a nutshell basically, Kumud hadd se guzar sakti hai, magar Kalika hadd se girr sakti hai. When the gloves come really off, which of the two is going to count and do the most damage? One of the two is not already fore-warned, but also fore-armed. Kumud will erase lines, but Kalika in a heartbeat, will cross them.
Kusum... Kumud acknowledges that Kusum will be her weakness, but resolves to make Kusum her strength. Easier said than done. Kalika's attack on Kumud started with 'Kusum', right now, Kumud's most visible Achilles Heel. The littlest barb on Kusum and Kumud retaliates like a wounded Mother bear. Kumud's lines: "Jis din tumhare aur Pramad ke rishte ke baare mein sab ko pata chal jaye ga, ussi din dhakke maar ke tumhe yaha se bahar nikal diya jaaye ga" Replace, "Pramad" with "Navin" and give the dialogue to Kalika, it will still ring equally true. Kumud's "blinkers" irritated me at that point. She has no grounds to issue such threats, with the 'kamarbandh expose' she should have started feeling the tremors already. The ground is slowly sinking below her feet, but she has her eyes only on Pramad. Recall in the last epi, when she slipped on the stairs looking at him? The current situation is but a macrocosm of that, and Kalika will ensure there will be no one left to lend her a hand except her true own: Saras & Kusum.
Kusum - Kumud convo: She appeals to the Kumud she can identify with, because the one in front of her, her silence, her capacity to withstand humiliation shatters Kusum. Another mirror breaks. Kusum tries to 'reach' because Kumud is already very far away. Her 'own' she does not 'recognise' and neither do her own do her. Loved how Kusum validates Kumud's inner thoughts, she will be her strength and that is enough for Kumud to break. No one wants to be alone (Kumud) but someone has always walked alone (Saras). What of him? He stays unwanted, perpetually in rifle-sights and now he will be put under a microscope too. That too by someone who cannot bear even the merest hint of scrutiny upon himself (Pramad).
I have to confess the sisters scene left me moved. Stellar job, Shiny and Jenny 👏
On the other hand, Kalika goes to re-assure her claim, Pramad exerts one upon her as well: where were you yesterday. You could witness the flash of jealousy in Pramad upon hearing Navin's name. And he returns it back to Kalika equally, telling her to mind her own. She skews facts to incite and modifies the timeline of the 'kamarbandh' to co-incide with Navin and Kumud's alone time. Whereas she knows very well that kamarbandh was in Navin's possession from before. With this "game-piece" (credit: Veera) Kalika has scored huge. She will now both use the kamarbandh and its timeline as she sees fit. Kamarbandh may be with Kusum, but its ownership lies firmly in Kalika's hands now, sealed with the action of her trying it on. She thus hands Pramad another part of the 'jigsaw'... A plan so to speak. You could see from Pramad's expression, his mind is racing as she divulges... If Plan Saraswatichandra fails, he is going to fall back on Plan Defame Kumud. Or who knows, maybe he is even spoilt for choices at this point on which plan to take. Because he has two that he wants to rid, Kumud and Navin. Why else would he take both into 'confessional' one after another? Pramad is on a jigsaw piece hunt. And Saras and Kumud are making his job even easier
So are we going to witness Pramad's birthday now, the second mission for BD's resident event-planner Navinchandra? I could not help but wince at the 'impose'... Someone in the Creatives team is at crosses with the character of Kumud. Recall, when Kumud envisioned herself and Saras as 'Sita and Ram' the impose there was 'Radha - Krishna' by Kusum and today, when to make 'sense', Pramad (ideally 😲) should have been 'acknowledged' as 'Ram' he gets 'imposed' as 'Kanha' by SD. A question to Mommy dearest: Such an auspicious birthdate, so why did you name your son 'Pramad'?.. I recall smrth Bhai, detailing negative connotations associated with name 😕
Curious mention: Kusum 'stumbles' and Murakhdass of all people catches her out?! Another piece of the jigsaw has been dropped. It is an indication of how that name "Saraswatichandra" is going to resonate in the coming days in BD household. There is no escaping "Saraswatichandra" a name BD and Alak are already familiar with. A name Pramad is consumed with. A name Navin has renounced. A name Kumud keeps firmly inside her heart. A name Kusum condemns. A name that is going to end everything. Only to start anew. A name that will one day again, rise, like the phoenix it is... SARASWATICHANDRA.
Breakfast table convo: Was it just me or did anyone else get the sense that Pramad was stealthily eyeing his prey (Saras) and as soon as opportunity presented he pounced with a pretext. Pramad is no good samatarian. He is a cunning operative. He finds opportunites and he strikes. Plus, Pramad was wearing black (evil) and red (danger), he is in a mood to hunt. Navin for his part, was in blue, in his Krishna avatar, and that is how he will be conducting himself in this interaction. By the end of the trip, he unwittingly and unaware is going to end up handing Pramad another important piece of the jigsaw. Ironic that BD is worried about Pramad when Navin is the one who will not return 'unscathed' and Pramad, stronger than before.
That "Aap bhi khalena" bit... With ehsaas assaulting full-frontal, was very calculatively placed by Cv's in the service of Pramad. Saras is going to be reeling under it, under the magic of that half-smile bestowed upon him like manna from heaven. He will be vulnerable in the throes of "ehsaas", Pramad is gonna notice, strike and Navin, in the moment is going to let something slip away. That is why he was wearing blue. Because with this first 'dance' with Pramad, Saras is going to be the star-crossed lover and not the persona he has adopted now. Curious mention: Kumud 'entreats' Kanha ji, to keep one "Kanha" safe from the other "Kanha"... Ironic.
