Part -31

They both kept on gawking at their child like a statue forgetting that the time was running out. Soon the darkness of night was faded away with the brightness of Sun. The baby was still in a deep slumber due to heavy doses of medicines. A lone tear escaped out of Sanyukta's eyes again.

Sanyukta: I am not a good mother... It is all my fault. I have pushed my daughter into this state. I would never be able to forgive myself.

She broke down burying her face into her palms, resting her elbows on her knees. Randhir looked at her. His face was still emotionless. He rubbed his palm over her back to pacify her. Then he pulled her back towards him by holding her elbow. Without looking at him, she hugged him tightly and cried even louder.

Randhir: Shh! Sanyukta...

Sanyukta: I am too bad. I should die. I am loathing myself.

Randhir: No Sanyukta, Don't. You are the best mother for Shinu. It wasn't your fault, so don't blame yourself, okay!

He pressed her more into himself. He wiped his tears and caressed her hair to pacify her. The baby opened her eyes and started crying. They both broke the hug and without much ado, Sanyukta picked her up in her arms and kissed her face. She hugged her then and cried louder, apologizing for her negligence.

Randhir on the other hand, did not leave any chance to leave Sanyukta and Shinu alone after that incidence. He had already got Vivek arrested by the police and decided not to spare him. He accumulated all the evidences against Vivek and gave them all to the police.

After a week, Randhir and Sanyukta decided to come back to Pune when Renuka went to her sister's place. On the airport, Randhir was holding dragging the trolley on his all their luggage was kept. He wanted Sanyukta to come with him to his home but was hesitant to ask. Sanyukta on the other hand, wanted to go with him as her opinion about him was completely changed. The way he had supported her all the time told her that he was someone she had never knew. He had fought with her ruthless father in her support, he had fought with his cousin, Vivek for her and Shinu, that indeed was not a small thing for woman. The person who used to make fun of her in front of his friends was now fighting with everyone for her and his daughter's pride. She had started respecting him more and maybe loving him more. She was waiting for him to ask her if she wanted to come with him or not? She would have agreed to it immediately.

Randhir: where will you go?

Sanyukta: At my friend's place.

She passed a smile and Shinu was leaning over him. Sanyukta was pulling her back but the baby screamed. Randhir smiled and pulled her from Sanyukta.

Randhir: My baby wants to come to Papa. (he kissed her cheeks and rubbed her back.)

Sanyukta was waiting for him to offer her to come to his house. Since the night they had made out, he was behaving weird. He was always there for her as a shield but he wasn't like before - clingy and possessive. She was missing this side of his now. A smile occupied her lips when she saw how happy her baby was him. She had realized that Shinu seemed happier with him then her, indeed daughters are closer to their fathers - the case wasn't applicable on her as her father really hated her but Randhir wasn't like her father. He loved Shinu more than anything by which he proved that he was the best father.

Randhir: I think you should go now. Take her and take care of you and her.

Her smile immediately vanished when she heard him saying. He was giving Shinu to her and literally asking her to leave. He didn't even offer her a lift to her friend's house, didn't even ask who that friend was? Didn't even... he didn't ask anything which came as a major disappointment to her. She kept her mum and took Shinu from him. He called for a cab and opened the gate for her. She climbed inside and he bid bye to her.

Sanyukta's reached her friend's place and threw her bags on one side of the house and started crying. She was irritated with Randhir's ignorance. She really wanted him to show his love to her, claim his marital rights over her, give his time to her. He was behaving weird which was intolerable for her. Maybe he had stopped loving her because of her attitude towards him in the past. Maybe he was deeply hurt as she suddenly left him after that night when they blissfully made out. She was insecure, unsure and scared of him that he would leave her again, that was why she left him but now, she wanted him badly. Every inch of her heart was calling out his name and he was nowhere. Her sobs clearly screaming how frustrated she was with everything going around. Her dilemma, his ignorance, her insecurities, his love, her fear, his protectiveness, her expectations, his support, everything was intolerable for her. Her sobs stopped when she heard her phone ringing, it was Parth.

Sanyukta: What do you want now? (she asked in frustration)

Parth: Are you crying?

Sanyukta: How do you know?

Parth: Because of that Randhir, right?

Sanyukta: Listen you...

She wanted to tell him that this time she was crying because of herself - her insecurities which were very frustrating for her, but before she could speak anything Parth cut her in between.

Parth: I don't care what you do. I just want my money back.

Sanyukta: what money? (she scowled)

Parth: You are such a... have you forgotten, we had started a partnership with that store? I don't want to be your partner anymore. I want my share back.

This came as a shock to her. She remembered that he had spent around 50 Lakh rupees into that store and she had no money to return him so instantly.

Sanyukta: Look, Parth, right now I don't have money. Give me some time. Let me arrange for it.

Parth: You have one month to send me back my 50 Lakh. Do whatever you want to do, but return my money.

Sanyukta: You really want this?

She asked as she couldn't believe that he was doing this with her.

Parth: Yes, I want this. I was there for you, ALWAYS! But you... you have always left me alone after using me. This time I won't let you do so. Just give me my money or else I will drag you to the Court. The legal notice would be at your home by tomorrow. Try to finish all this soon.

Sanyukta: Hmm. Don't worry, I'll pay your money.

Parth: Good. Take care of you and Shinu and bye.

She hung up the phone and sobbed all over again.

Sanyukta had just a month in which she had to arrange for 50 lakh rupees, but how? She had the store and the goods. The store was on lease and the goods were owned. Needed a buyer of the stock soon. She somehow managed to sell the stock. Still it wasn't enough to reach the targeted amount. She then decided to mortgage her jewelry, which was still not enough. The time was ticking and still she had to arrange around 20 lakhs. She had decided that in no case she would approach Randhir. She had approached all the banks and all her friends for granting her loan but all refused. Only a week was left and she could see no other way out.

Randhir heard the doorbell buzz. He threw the file which he was holding on the bed and ran to open the door. He froze looking at the person standing in front of him. He thought she would never be back, but she was standing in front of him with her luggage.

Randhir: What are you doing here, Vidhushi?

Vidhushi: Actually, I am leaving this city, so I thought to come and meet you for the last time. I have to take a few things of mine which are still here.

Randhir: Are you really going?

Vidhushi: Will you allow me in?

Randhir: Come in. And what did you leave here?

Vidhushi: I have my things. (she said while entering in)

Randhir: Are you okay? You look upset about something and you are leaving so suddenly.

Vidhushi: yes, I am fine. Actually, Randhir, I can't see my future here. My hands are running short of money. You've also left me. I have to now focus on my career. So, I think I should leave.

Randhir: Hmm. I am sorry. You can take whatever you are here for. I am sitting here.

He set on the couch in the living room waiting for Vidhushi to come out as she was inside his bedroom.

Inside the bedroom, Vidhushi started assembling everything expensive in the room whether it belonged to her or not. She then received a call from someone.

Person: Hello, Vidhushi where are you?

Vidhushi: I am here at Randhir's house.

Person: what are you doing there? You told me that he has nothing to give you then why are you wasting your time at his place?

Vidhushi: Yeah, he has nothing give me but I am taking whatever he has. Atleast, he can arrange my flight tickets.

Person: Good, I am impressed. Why did you choose him, when he had nothing to give? He was such a waste. We would have made a lot of money during that time.

Vidhushi: I know. Don't worry, we will catch someone in our web.

Person: Yes, you come back soon. Don't waste a single second on him. Bye.

She hung the phone and again started doing what she was doing. Randhir had a slight idea about Vidhushi's intention but he was quiet. Maybe he was testing her. He was thinking something deep and his mind was unreadable. His chain of thoughts broke when he heard the doorbell rang again. He opened the door and froze again looking at the person standing in front of him. Sanyukta was standing in front of him holding Shinu. She was looking weak and upset. Her eyes were red and he could make out that she had just cried.

Randhir: Sanyukta...

Sanyukta: Hi

Randhir: Hi! how come you are here? Is everything okay?

Sanyukta: Can I come in?

Randhir: Sure, come in.

He moved to a side to give her way. Shinu leaned over him, so he pulled her in his arms. He kissed her and both father and daughter shared a moment together. Sanyukta entered inside and he asked her to sit on the couch. He too sat in front of her. She looked nervous. He could see lot of hesitation on her face.

Randhir: So tell me what happened?

He said while keeping Shinu on the floor and gave her his car key chain to play. They baby threw that and started crawling around.

Sanyukta: Shinu baby, no...

Randhir: let it be, she is safe.

He smiled assuring her that their daughter was fine and she trusted him blindly.

Sanyukta: I need a favor from you.

Randhir: Favor? What favor? Tell me.

She held her hand with other as her hands were shivering. She was very scared. She wanted to throw herself in his arms and cry for long till all her pains come out of her heart. She wanted him to hold her for rest of her life with him - but she kept on looking at him with hopeful eyes. She was finding it difficult to tell him her plight. The time had changed a lot so was their relationship. There was a time she could share anything on earth with him without any hesitation but now...things were totally changed.

Randhir: What happened, Sanyukta? Is everything fine? Why you look so..

Sanyukta: I need money, twenty lakh rupees...as soon as possible.

She finally spoke cutting him between. Randhir's expression suddenly changed from concern to shock. Twenty Lakh rupees wasn't a small amount. He was shocked and equally worried. He wanted to know why she needed this huge amount? What problem she had now put herself into?

Shinu kept crawled near between Randhir and Sanyukta and clutched the edge of the table. She pushed herself up and stood up with the support of the table. She was trying to catch a plastic colorful tray kept in the middle.

Sanyukta: Shinu, come here. Behave yourself.

Randhir: She is at her own home, Sanyukta. She can do whatever she wants to do here.

Sanyukta skipped a beat when he heard him saying that Shinu was at her own house. Her hopes rose and she was sure that he would definitely take her out of the dig.

Randhir: Why do you want this huge amount? What happened?

Sanyukta: Randhir, Parth has withdrawn his partnership with me and he wants his share back. He is the major investor in our toy store business, he wants his money back. I have arranged for more than 60% of the amount but... still 20 lakh is short.

Vidhushi: What 20 lakhs! Are you here to rob him? Listen girl, you have already spoiled his life and now you want all the money from him.

Vidhushi entered in between and blamed Sanyukta. She knew that Randhir would do anything to save Sanyukta and 20 Lakh rupees was a huge amount that could change her life. If he would agree to help Sanyukta, she would create some situations which would help her to take that money away with her.

Sanyukta on the other hand, wasn't expecting her in his house. She felt a tight punch in her chest when she saw her. Her blood had started boiling as she had again started making Randhir against her. She needed him now but Vidhushi was becoming a barrier like always between them. She wanted to held her hair and pushed her out of the place but when she looked at Randhir, he was sitting quietly there. She assumed that he was still with her. she felt a lump in her throat. Her husband and his girlfriend are still together and she wanted to be back to him. Why?

Sanyukta: No...No... Randhir, I am not here to rob you. Actually, I am here with a deal. I don't want your money, I want the money in return of something.

Randhir and Vidhushi scowled as they listened to her keenly.

Sanyukta: Randhir, do you remember, Papa gave me a plot at the time of our marriage? The price of that plot right now is around 2 crores. I can transfer that plot in your name if you give me the money.

Vidhushi: You mean to say, you will transfer the plot of 2 crores in just 20 lakh. Are you kidding me?

Randhir too was shocked.

Sanyukta: Look Vidhushi, Randhir knows about the plot. It is located at one of the best places locations in Mumbai. Papa gifted me at the times of our marriage. I need the money soon, my deadline expires in 7 days. I am not getting the buyer so soon. Legal formalities take a lot of time. Here are the papers, you can check them. (she said while keeping the papers of the plot in front.)

Vidhushi sat next to Randhir with a thud and pulled the paper. She started reading them while, Randhir was just looking at Sanyukta. His jaw was clenched and his eyes looked hurt.

Sanyukta: Randhir, I am so sorry to approach you, but I have no other option. Everyone refused to help me. I am here for my Shinu. I don't want to get involved in any legal tiff with him. And Papa gave that plot to me for us. I feel that you'll be the best owner for that. Please help me, Randhir, please...

She whispered the last line and his eyes become teary. He was really hurt that she had approached him last. She could have come to him anytime and he would give his life for her. He was upset that she had brought that plot in exchange for the money. He was her husband and his money belonged to her too. He still kept quiet as he was testing the two ladies sitting near him. One his wife - he wanted to see how much formal she could be with him? Other one was Vidhushi - who was filled with greed and was after his money.

Vidhushi: Okay, I have read these papers, they appear authentic. Randhir, we should do it. I mean, we'd be in a lot of profit. A plot costing 2 crores, just in 20 lakhs. 10 times profit. All our problems would come to an end. You remember, I had showed you a car, we can buy that, my career would be set, you can buy a new home for us, and many more things. Oh my god! I am so happy for you.

A few minutes, she came to say a 'goodbye' to him and now she is back to 'we' mode. She was clearly after his money, he had realized that. He was still gawking at her but his expressions were unreadable. Sanyukta too was shocked the way she was behaving. All those things which Vidhushi had counted in front of her after she gets the money, were just a waste for her. She would have never let Randhir to buy all those things for her anyway, still she had no right to say anything between the two she assumed.

Vidhsuhi: Don't worry, Sanyukta, you'll get your money soon. I think Randhir, we should buy the property in jointly. I mean you pay the money but put my name also in the co-ownership. I am lucky for you na. And tonight, I am here only with you.

She said keeping her arm around his shoulder. Sanyukta wanted to cry. Their closeness was making her insecure and jealous. He still loved Vidhushi and they are still together, was not something she was okay with. She wanted to go from there right then, so she picked up Shinu and got up.

Sanyukta: I...I... should leave now. You tell tomorrow if it is final from your side.

Randhir too got up and nodded his head without saying anything. He moved closer to her as if he would hug her any time, but he kissed Shinu's cheek and looked into Sanyukta's eyes. He could read those eyes clearly what she was feeling inside. He knew that she wasn't comfortable and wanted to leave, but he kept quiet and let her go.

He closed the door behind him and saw that Vidhushi was standing in front of him. She was smiling and was dancing in front of him.

Randhir: Aren't you going?

Vidhushi: Where?

Randhir: You came here to take your things as you are leaving, I suppose.

Vidhushi: You suppose wrong. I am here and will always be here. I came here to test you, whether you'll stop me or not and you didn't. So, I am hurt, but I am not upset with you.

Randhir: hmmm... give me those papers once. Let me read them.

He took the papers and went inside the room. He came out after a few seconds with her bags. Vidhushi was clueless of what he was doing.

Randhir: Open you bags.

Vidhushi: Why?

Randhir: I want to see what all you kept from my house in your bags which certainly don't belonged to you.

Vidhushi: Are you serious? Are you calling me a theif?

Randhir: Indirectly, yes. Now open them fast, before I call the police.

Vidhushi: Are you scaring me? Don't you trust me?

She was literally into fake tears as she knew her tears were his weakness.

Randhir: Yes, I don't trust you.

Vidhushi: I...I... will kill myself, Randhir. I will cut my vein. You know I can do it.

Randhir: I know you cannot do it. Let me help you.

He brought the knife from the kitchen and held her arm and kept the knife on her wrist.

Randhir: happy? I am making things easier for you. You'll be dead in some time.

Vidhushi: STOP IT, RANDHIR.

She screamed pulling her wrist back.

Randhir: What happened? Don't you want to die? Do one thing, open your bags fast and open in front of the police.

Vidhushi: You... called police here?

Randhir: Not yet. Now open them fast. See I am a married man. I shouldn't open some other girl's bag.

Vidhushi: I cannot believe that you are doing this to me for that Sanyukta. That down...

Randhir: a...a...a... not a word against her. Just do as I say.

She had no other option and opened that bag. Randhir wasn't surprised when he saw all his expensive things like his watches, his tablet, his ipod and many other items were into the bag. But one thing annoyed him completely when he saw Sanyukta's gold bangles were inside the bag which he had brought her to gift her but didn't.

Randhir: I guess these things do not belong to you. Now tell me who you are?

Vidhushi: Okay fine! I am a con. I con stupid men like you for money with my friends. Randhir, when I saw you for the first time in that party, I realized that you are an emotional fool and you'll be a good target. I had left you because you had nothing to give me and when I came to know that you were with Sanyukta and making good money, I had decided to come back. And rest is history...

He was fuming in anger and cursing himself that for this bitch, he threw Sanyukta out of his life. He had already called for the police and She was arrested by the same. Then he dialed Sanyukta's number and

Randhir: Hello!

Sanyukta: Hello, Randhir.

Randhir: Sanyukta, I want to meet you.
