It was a disappointment to see Vineet getting a Green card and Viswas getting yellow today(3rd phase). I think Viswas was best among the three, though Vineet is also in my favorite list, but was not today.

Nihara is undoubtedly the best singer in whole group, but I sometimes find her so inconsistent. For eg the RD Burman round I think Raktima did sing better then her, but because of the "the best" tag that Nihara has she got the Green card. I never liked her singing in first two phase.. The song that she sang "Chalka Chalka re" in elimination round and 3rd phase were marvelous and showed her talent, if she continues this way she can surely win the contest, but if she perform like the first two phase I really doubt she can unless "the best" tag helps her out.

Of course calling Nihara ghamandi was not fair..she looks so Innocent

Absolutely... your research...I mean search in the Internet is fabulous.

If someone lifts our bags we go to any extent to see that the lifter is punished appropriately, after ofcourse securing our bags.

However, I would like to share some views aired by few self-professed music connossieurs (e.g. vivg76 etc.) in this thread about these so called mentors and equated these music 'lifters' to music geniuses like

The second group performed on Thursday night. Two of the six performing contestants will go to agnipariksha round after getting green cards. The rest four will perform again tomorrow out of which two will get blue cards and go to chakraviuh round and two will get red cards and will be eliminated.

Theme of the round- performance based singing
Judges – Pandit Jasraj and Daler mehndi
Contestant for the day-

Dum- Sharib and Swananda
Jai ho- Hemachandra and Raktima
Rock- Joyeeta
Yalgaar- Niladri

Recap- In the first group of this charan- nihira and vineet got the green cards and got direct entry to the agnipariksha round. Keka and Irfan got blue cards and have to face the chakraviuh round before they can go to agnipariksha. Vishwaas (who is fav for lot of us) and Ujjani (again a good and fav singer) got red cards and were eliminated. They have to depend on public voting and their mentors for a comeback.

The episode started with a song by shaan in praise of mata sherowali (navratra special). We were shown that vishwaas and ujjaini were leaving their respective gharanas and vishwaas urged to audience to vote for his gharana if they want him back.

The performances for the day-

Sharib- He has become a favorite with lot of us by singing the mann ki lagan in his last appearance. Both sharib and irfan got green cards in that episode because of the showdown between the mentors. He is from a musical gharana and has got good classical base. The song he chose for the performance round- chaiya chaiya from Dil se. A little weak beginning but good pick up and was very good on lower notes as well as higher notes (good voice clarity in both). Good control over his voice and added a little bit of his own harkat in the singing. Also added a sargam bit in the antara. Overall good singing but I thought he lacked the energy somewhere, which Jatin did point out during the rehearsal as well.

Swananda- Swananda is one of my favourite, I think she has got a wonderful soothing voice and also good expressions. She is from UK and this time even her husband was here to watch her perform. I rate her Jaane kya baat hai as one of the best performances in challenge 2005. I am not too sure about how good she will be in a performance oriented fast number but ………Sharara sharara from mere yaar ki shaadi. A beautiful asha number sung quite beautifully by swananda (I may be a little biased, frankly I prefer her any day over nihira). Perfect sur, good expressions (not perfect- I thought she could have done better on that count), perfect pitching……little lack of energy.

Mentors- Ismail commented on swananda saying that she sang better when her husband was not her but she was ok. Sharib was a little off key in some places. Himesh said that he does not know what others think, but he thinks sharib deserves a special song. AS said that swananda somehow reminded him of asha of 70's. Jatin lalit were also all praise for swananda saying that she had a wonderful voice. Aadesh said that he though sharib had not picked up the song properly which was again defended by jatin who said that this is his fault as he made sharib change it and also credited sharib for the sargam he had added. Ismail did mention that he is not able to see any performances in these.

Hemachandra- He is one of the favorites to win Challenge 2005. His powerful voice and pucca sur have mad him one of the strongest male contenders. In his last two appearances, he has got green cards and is hoping for hat trick. AS was shown telling him not to get too emotional and use this tears as weapons in his singing. This round may give us a chance to see some other side of hema. A very unlikely song chosen by Hema- lekar hum diwana dil from yaadon ki baraat- this is certainly not his type of song but he was good…I will not say outstanding but good. Good control of sur- I don't think it would be possible for daler to point out as to how many times hema faultered. Good energy in the song.

Raktima- I am not too impressed with her singing as I find her nasal tone very prominent. AS, during rehearsals was telling him that she should bring in some performance, asked her about her mother. She chose the asha number from taal- kahin aag lage………..not a good beginning…..and though not off sur in too many places…..the song sung in the same line throughout....no ups and downs. She had a very prominent nasal tone.

Mentors- Either I missed that part (blame it on my channel surfing habit during breaks) or they edited it. I will be glad if somebody can fill that in.

Niladri- I think he is very hyped singer, apart from his veer zaara song which was very good, his other performances were very ordinary. Also he has got a very pronounced accent. During training, he told ismail that he is having problem with the song….ID said that he should imagine the light bulbs around his body like amitabh and perform. He said that niladri has never been getting green cards on the first go and this time if he did not get it- he had it. The song chosen for him (must have figured out by now- bulbs on amitabh) was saara zamaana from yaarana. What can I say about him- the song ended before one could notice anything good. Went off sur in couple of places…tried to put energy but not of much use.

Mentors- The mentors comment that this was a very simple song and they are wondering why did ID choose this song.

Joyeeta- The cry baby of the group with the bhada train fame, joyeeta has been very very inconsistent. Her earlier performance did make us believe that she is a good singer and potential but her last few performance have been below par. She has got flaks from JL specially. She is one of the two contestants left in HR gharana. Her song for the day….aaiye aajaiye…..yun na rah rah ke . What a surprise- the cry baby was all the time laughing and performing…actually dancing and the mentors were shown really enjoying her performances. Singing wise- some hiccups as usual- she went off sur in some places, a little bit of nasal as well but performance wise- the crowd was dancing to her tunes, literally.

Mentors- All the mentors were happy and commented that this is real performance and she is the only one who has done it today. Himesh said that this girl who made us cry so many times has made us laugh so much today that we have got tears. JL said that they enjoyed her performance immensely.

The results- Hema and swananda got green cards. Joyeeta was told that her performance was good but she should be careful about sur as well. Daler appreciated sharib but said that he was off key in some places, also in the sargam, which he had added himself. Raktima was also appreciated.

Swananda said that she thought that people should not look at her and dance but listen to her and dance. Joyeeta said that she enjoyed it today and was earlier in doubt whether she should concentrate on singing or perform but when ID mentioned performance- she decided to add that bit. Raktima said that she was happy that AS liked her performance because he had said that you stand straight and sing- how r u going to perform. Sharib was in tears, he said that he has been telling his mentors that he will get green card everytime but has been unable to do so. The high point drama of the day- niladri told sharib that he should not change the composition..should stick to original compostion. Sharib said that since this was performance round, he added that. Lalit defended him saying that what he did was right and the contestants should not comments on fellow contestants. ID said that then everybody should be allowed to modify and rules should be same for everybody.
