only song i liked in devdas(new) is "kahe ched mohe" sung by kavita. but that too was compoed by pt birju mahraj

and i never liked songs like "ishq kamina" these r 4th grade songs of ismail..

expected results.. good judgement.. thanx to them ...they never went for performance they stuck to singing.. otherwise it would have been joyeeta and niladri 😡

I agree about ismail- the only album of his which i have like is hum dil de chuke sanam.....devdas became what it became because of the lavish picturisation of bhanshali.

ID's tere jadu was also pretty ordinary. I always feel that he is rated very high- wrongly. He has composed music for very few movies and also of very limited genre- and out of that also only HDDCS can be called as good music- so what is he proud about.

I am happy too...not only because he is also from Hyderabad like me... but also because his talent is getting recognised at appropriate forums...

when we talk about "albela sajan aayo re" being a copied version of raag ahir bhairav, i am at a loss of words..not because I agree...of course i dont. Taking a cheez(thats what we call a classical prosed composition) and a particular raag and presenting it differently can never be called a copy. Ask Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Pt Jasraj etc, and they will tell you that if they present a particular composition in a particular raag on 50 different concerts, it will have 50 versions....thats the amount of on-the-spot improvisation, which maestros do..Try listening to lets say Damadum mast Kalandar song, which is a veryyyy popular composition. I have listened to its versions by Runa laila, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Begum Abida Parveen, Wadali bandhu and Hans Raj hans..and believe me, everybody is different and fabulous in their own way. Can anybody call them copycats???????

If u say, Nimbuda Nimbuda is again not original, then SD Burman was a pure copycat..the song sung by Mannada "pinjare waali muniya" (the famous song) was a copy of the awadhi folk..

Pleeease dont look at the lyrics..look at the presentation.

also, many people here have said that ID has nothing else but HDDCS and devdaas to his credit. Have u listened to Kisnaa?? I bought the album a week back and I must tell you its a collectible item..I jus cant stop humming the great compositions that it has..Now, thats I call a GRAND ALBUM...see the orchestrization, compositions and the sheer singing....ENJOY

I fail to understand why people keep comparing classical music (be it Hindustani or Carnatic) with film music and musicians.

I personally feel comparing film music directors, especially the current crop, with classical music maestros an insult to the latter.

Whether we like it or not, we need to accept the fact that originality in film music composing is long lost. The current music directors nothing but are rehashing old music or copying from other music/countries.

The evidence for this fact is - the so called latest hits evaporate from our memories very quickly and even today we still hum and even our children sing old Md. Rafi/Kishore Kumar/Lata/Asha/Mukesh songs even though they do not know the greatness of these singers and their music directors.
