anybody from here is in fame gurukul forum as well?? i am really surprised to see fame gurukul's forum crossing 280 pages while saregampa challenge last page is 20 upt now. the real talent is here and good singing is here. still everyone wants to run after fame gurukul which is a lot of other things but good singing. i wonder why real talent has less takers?

The third group performed in the second elimination stage on Thursday 15th September. Today was the first day, hence two of them were given green card and the rest four were shown yellow cards meaning they will perform again tomorrow.
The theme was again the same- RD Burman songs and the judges were O.P.Nayyar and Kavita Krishnamurthy

The contestants for today-
Aadesh Srivastava- Himani
Jatin Lalit- Ujjaini and Sharib
Himesh reshamaiya- Joyeeta and Vineet
Ismail Durbar- Irfan

Recap of the this group – Himani and vineet had got the green cards in their first outing in the first elimination round. Anindita and vishwanath were eliminated and shown the red cards.

Today's performances-
Himani – a powerful singer who has also recorded a thumri for aadesh for the film chingari and kalpana lazmi, who is the director of the movie was all praise for her singing including great feelings. Today she sang- Ab jo mile hai, tho bahon ko bahon me… quite an uncommon song and also not in particular her kind of song..her voice is more suited to sufi kind of songs… but she was quite good mainly I think because of the confidence…I think she was a little betala at some places….but good feelings….overall a good performace.
Mentors-
ID- He said that himani ne bilkul nahi ki beimani. (just because it rhymes! I find him irritating but he has improved a bit). He said that aadesh has got very good singers and he is looking at them carefully.
HR- He said that himani is a very strong contender and her performance today was very good and strong.
JL- As usual pointed out that there were some pronunciation problems but overall good performance. Aadesh replied back saying that in today's time people get away with singing ta instead of singing tha (referred to pyar to hona hi ta)…. If I am not mistaken this is jl song.

Irfan- I think he is decent singer but not special. He sang Tum bin jaon kahaan ke duniya….. Quite a mediocre beginning, I would say bad….i think the kishore feel was missing…though he did try to yoodle like kishore and managed a good job on that but still a thanda performance…
Mentors-
AS- He felt that there was good feel in the antara.
JL- Lalit said irfan had improved a lot and ismail is working hard but said that he was wondering initially, when the song started, that whose version is he singing but then it sounded like rafi's but when he yodeled it was kishore's. Over all a good performance where he combined the both versions
HR- Himesh praised him a lot, very good singer, he put his life in the song (which I found lacking) and he thought it was not fair to compare him with legends like rafi and kishore but in his own way he was very good. Jatin interrupted saying that none of them here are so foolish to compare any of these singers with kishore or rafi but when somebody sings their song, obviously the reference are those old songs. Himesh replied saying that he was sorry and takes back his words.

Ujjaini- Frankly, I did not have too much impressions on her as I did not remember much of her from the earlier rounds. She sang ghar aaja ghir aaye – Very good song selection and she sang it beautifully. Good voice quality, pukka on the sur and laya. A little more feeling and confidence would have made it more endearing.
Sharib- I think he is pretty decent singer but not somebody I see as winning this competition or even doing playback. Tumne mujhe dekha hokar- I think the performance was very mediocre….someplaces bad….nothing really to write about.
Mentors-
ID- ismail praised ujjaini and she got engrossed in the song…..and jatin lalit have done a very good job. On sharib, he said that he tried but rafi had sung it beautifully and he could not manage that.
HR- Himesh said that ujjaini sang much better than earlier. (he seems to be praising everyone) Sharib chose a song that was not of his genre but did well.
AS- He said that sharib was a surprise, his song was not of his style but he sang well. He praised ujjaini's voice and said she sounds very fresh and thought her tonal quality is the best.

Vineet- The kharab gala fame…..he is a good singer but I think he is not very versatile. His song was Kitna pyaara vaada hai in matwali - good singing, powerful voice and throw, complete control over sur…I think himesh may have an ace in him!
Joyeeta- The one who comes from assam in bhadi train and who cries at the drop of hat….the one to whose singing lalit had said that it seemed like a kothe wala song kisliye maine pyaar kiya….(we were shown clipping where himesh was telling her that this may not get you a green card but will show your versatility- I think his confidence is misplaced)- a soft song which lost all its softness in her singing…...pretty bad performance compared to the other two girls.
Mentors-
AS- He said that it was a very simple song (probably that is the reason why himesh chose it) where there is hardly any possibility of an error but she made those and was off target from the very beginning. He liked vineet's performance.
JL- Jatin said that last time vineet' had wrongly picked up the song from khali and this time he has got a song which is from khali. They liked his performance Jatin was very disappointed with Joyeeta and said that he is not too sure whether he should say because she is very sensitive and takes everything to heart and cries…but he should say. He sang another song- two version and said that in the second version of his singing it is the same song but with different feeling it sounds like a begger 's song. He was probably trying to say that proper feel of song is very important and if it not there, the song loses everything.
ID- He congratulated himesh for choosing a song which is not suited to joyeeta's voice so considering that- she sang well.
HR – He thought Vineet did not do to his best but sang well. As for Joyeeta, he said that she should not take the mentors comments personally as they all consider her like their daughter and expect a lot from her and want her to improve.

The results are out but on request I am not putting it here. PM me if you want the results.

I think among girls nihira, himani, swananda and vineeta have good chances ...i think it might be between nihira and swananda.

Among the guys...i am not very sure but i think hemachandra, abhijeet, vineet and niladri are strong contenders out of which hemachandra and abhijeet may reach the final stage.

I am pretty sure that Vineet will get the green card on first shot and thus, remain as HR's FINAL DISCIPLE!!!! (HR will definitely put everything he has upon him) I think Himani will get the green card in the first shot.

The reds, I'm sure, will fall upon Joyeeta and Irfan. Knowing their singing styles, these will have to be given.

Well, he is a successful singer, at one point the top singer- there is no denial of that fact. Though person like me and kishore_bhakta will never curse this guy for marginalising Kishore da's style of singing. Like Sonu did a great "repairing" job of Raff saheb's style of singing when Shabbir and Md. Aziz had done enough damage!!! Same way Abhijit has done some "repair" work after Kumar Sanu did so much of damage to Kishore Da's bindaas style of singing. Personally I feel that Kumar Sanu was a singer of the "crisis" time in Bollywood music world. He was fortunate to have got some outstanding compositions of which "1947 - A love story " turned out to be a landmark o his career. I feel that when QSQT came, Udit had shown the originality and if and only if Nadeem Shravan's Ashiqui(one of the best compositions ever..by any music director..) had not taken Kumar Sanu the break. But as always happens , in long run only the original runs and so Udit Narayan is first choice of ARR and all top music directors today and Kumar Sanu must be feeling happy if he gets one or two situational songs or title songs once in a while!!

Anyway, Zee TV has also limitations in getting the judges. So given that situation Kumar Sanu is not that bad a choice. Khaiyaam on the other hand is a great choice as judge and hopefully he manages Kumar Sanu and balances the judging.

Looking forward for next Monday/Tuesday now eagerly and will come back in this forum now on Tuesday (because I do not want to know the results beforehand!!!)

I think Kumar Sanu was pretty good as a singer though being realistic, I say that he only copied one shade of Kishoreda. If you want to know what shade I am talking about, this shade is the way Kishoreda sang Dev Anand songs and the Kaash song "O Yaara Tu Pyaaron Se Hai Pyaara." My friends still think it is sung by Kumar Sanu and I can definitely see where they get that assumption. But Kumar Sanu's voice is not as strong to reproduce "Khaike Paan Banaras wala" or even thicker to sing any Kishore song released after 1989 (i.e. Toofan, Souten Ki Beti, Laal Pari, Begunah, etc.) Amit Kumar was the closest in Kishore's style, but he consciously stayed away from it. Abhijit and Sudesh Bhosle (sighs) are the next in line to be the closest in emulating the real Kishore.

Rafi saab's voice touched everybody. That's why it seems like everyone's voice in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is based off of Rafi saab's voice. (Except for Saptak and Rajeev... whose voices represent Amit Kumar's voice). Rafi's voice had many attempts; first by Mahendra Kapoor while he was alive, then Anwar to the very very end of his career, then to Shabbir Kumar who could sound like Rafi if he wanted to, but was overly nasal, poor pronunciation, and incredibly besur. Mohammed Aziz was the cleaner version of Shabbir Kumar without being overly nasal. I think Mohammed Aziz was a singer who could have gone great ways if trends didn't change. The real change happened when Udit Narayan had a unique voice that REMINDS you of Rafi saab, but doesn't copy it. FYI... Udit sang two songs with Rafi saab (one in film Unees Bees and the other in Gehra Zakhm).

Mukesh.. no one messed up his voice yet.... actually only one.. Shailendra Singh. I wonder why nobody sings Mukesh songs on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

One judge I would LOVE to see on this show is Suresh Wadekar. He's been on before and always gives good judgements along with words of encouragement and advice to the all participants. What say you, everyone...
