Great music that did not work...

I was listening to Raincoat yesterday night, and keep falling in love with it all over again all the time...

If you had to pick up 5 albums in recent years that you thought were of exceptional quality but did not work because of market forces/changing trends/anything else, what would those be? For me, it would be:

Raincoat - Debojyoti Misra

Just adore 'Piya tora kaisa abhimaan' and 'Mathura Nagarpati', the music of Raincoat surely grows on you 👍🏼👍🏼

Paheli - MM Kreem

'Dheere jalna' haunts me all the time, 'Khaali hai tere bina' is brilliant as well 👏👏

Yahaan - Shantanu Moitra

'Naam adaa likhna' is exceptional, 'Urzu doorkut' very refreshing (music-wise) and really cryptic (lyrics wise 😛 - Dawn is yet to explain the lyrics for me 😉)

Lakshya - Shankar Ehsaan Loy

I think 'Kitni baatein' is one of the best romantic numbers for a long long time 😳, 'Kandhon se milte hai kandhen' is the best war song of recent times I can think of right now

Zubeidaa - A R Rehman

Though a little older than the rest, this is one of the few ARR albums with brilliant music and little success 😭, just love 'Dheere Dheere gaun' and 'Hai naa' 😊

But, I agree...Kandhon se milte hain Kandhe is one of the best war songs. 👏 In fact, I'm listening to it now. 😳

Oh Water is brilliant - I have fallen in love with 'Naina neer bahaye', 'Piya ho' and 'Bangri Marori' - and you are right, this is possibly going to be another ARR gem that will not reach the masses 😭

But, its really sad for us music lovers, when you see that brilliance goes unnoticed and very mediocre and repetitive music tops the charts...

Absolutely agree.. other movies whose music was ignored was Water as Iron ji said.. Naina Neer Bahaye is fantastic... its beautiful...
