What a great discussion.. it's what I was hoping for with the 'Challenging Duets' thread.

As I read all the posts, I was thinking that sometimes an album sounds great till you see (or can't sit through the film). Or if you see the film (like Raincoat) you register the great music, but what you remember, unless you buy the CD or listen to it on musicindiaonline (and god bless whoever thought up that online treasurehouse), is the movie.

I have also bought CDs like Leela and Khamosh which sounded promising in the store, but just could not bring myself to listen to them all the way through. My brain tells me they are good music, but I just can't bring myself to listen to them. I think the reason for this may be that if I want to listen to real classical or semi-classical, I will listen to recordings in that genre.

Anyway, these are ruminations, not thought through.. just to join in this neat thread Madhavi started.

I liked the movie. I don't care how the movie is as long as Big B is there.😛

I didn't start this thread ! Jaya ji did... !

I agree with you though vanajakshi ji, I think its a matter of choice.. but often such songs need to be marketted properly..

Aao Na was a well marketted song, It is a good song but we associate the movie with the song, same for Woh Kisna hain from Kisna..so many good songs in the movie people don't know off because they aren't promoted, and until u see the movie, you don't know such songs exist.. for example

1) Munnabhi MBBS: Dekhle was always given more publicity than Chal Chal
2) Krishna Cottage: Ding Dong was given more publicity than Suna Suna
3) Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena: Ishq hain Jhoota given more publicity than Jal Jal Ke Dhuan
4) Ek Ajnabee: Ek Ajnabee (Remix) got more fottage than Tere Liye by KK in that movie

And then there are movies like Morning Raga, Water, Black Raincoat, Page 3 (Had great music - Kitne Ajeeb by Asha Ji, FANTASTIC song with even better lyrics), Joggers' Park have to bear the brunt of music not doing well..

Same is the case with Banaras, Umar, sites like indiafm give it a low rating because it doesnt work with the masses.. what more to say..

Brilliant post Madhavi👏

Also there was this movie called Armaan that a very nice Sunidhi Chauhan soft track 'Meri zindagi me aaye ho' but that was not marketed and all we remember from the movie is 'Mere dil ka tumse hai kehna' - the PZ bathtub song

BTW - 'Kitne ajeeb rishte hai yaha pe' is by Lata'ji, right

No, I did not watch it yet but will watch it now. I wish Saptak was still there in the contest to sing those songs.
