Another such song is...

Bhagwan do ghadi zara insaan ban ke dekh,
Dharti pe chaar din, kabhi mehman ban ke dekh

Beautiful, beautiful lyrics...not sure though which movie this is from though.

Rafi for Bharat Bhushan, Manna Da sang for the Old Qawaali singer, Asha Bhosle for the sister and someone else sang for Shyama.

The verse "Maein Jo Chali Jal Jamuna Bharan Ko
Dekho Sakhi Ji Maein Jo Chali Jal Jamuna Bharan Ko
Nandkishor Mohe Roke Jhaadon To
Kya Bhar Laun Maein Jamuna Se Matki
Ab Laaj Raakho More Ghoonghat Pat Ki " If I am not mistaken was sung by Asha Bhosle and this was picturised on the young sister of Shama. Was it Tabassum, I wonder

No it was Bharat Bhushan's wife in real life who acted as Shyama's sister/friend.

Oh is that so?

Petite lady. She in fact had acted in some other movies as well, but in small roles.

Two songs I adore both from same movie:
- Main chali main chali...main to pyar ki kali...
mujhey rokey na koi...main chali...main chali....

Imagine those teenagers of yore, Saira and her gang zooming (on bicycles of all things) down some countryside roads (wonder where the shot those scenes)...the girls sing sing with absolute gay abandon...the director brought out the "Freak-out" nature of these girls quite well! Then imagine the follow-up to this song...when the girl-gang pounce upon hunky Sunil Dutt...and their banter:
Saira - Arey janey dey jandey Rita..kahin yeh tujjsey
shadi na kar baithey...
Suni Dutt - (looking at a black-slacks clad specimen)
Issey ? issey to mera mama bhi shadi karney sey inkar kar dega...tum apni baat karo to main kuchch soch-wichar karun...... Lataji's voice.....bliss!!!

The second one is:
Bhai Buttooooor..rey bhai buttoooor....ab jayengey kitttni doooor.....
Sairy looks cute albeit here stupid wig...and lataji's voice! the song was also shot beautifully...with Saira bringing out the "Feak-out" nature again....that "abhi to main jawan hoon" type...superb.

By the way, Padosan to me is like a "text-book" movie...a text book on "how to make a movie"...each and every department in this movie has clicked!!! Good stroy, good direction, good acting, good drama, good comedy...superb editing....good music....one can go on and on....Truly a collector's item!

Priyaji...kya song yaad karaya...! Mostly all Dev Anand movie songs are superb...but some are absolutely and truly GEMS!! This one you mentioned is superb!! (I belive in south india, they throw one adjective...."Suuuuper").

I liked that "cigarette-lighter-tune" they used in this movie and this song!! Absolute master-stroke of a genius !

Add Rafi and Ashaji to the concoction!!! mind blowing.....Ashaji's voice still haunts me in the stanza you mentioned "gar main ruk gayi abhi...."!!!

And my all time favourite song "Abhi naa jaao chodkar, ki dil abhi bhara nahi" from Hum Dono picturised on a Suave Dev Anand with a long muffler and petite and beautiful Sadhna, where she is late and wants to leave and he is reluctant to let her go. Another beautiful picturisation again.

"Abhi Abhi toh aayi ho, bahar banke chaayi ho, Hawa zara mehak toh le, nazar zara behak toh le, yeh shaam dhal toh le zaraa...." when he entreats her not to leave so early and stay on for a while longer. The lyrics and the song just makes you want to stay on that scene forever.

"Sitaaren Jhil mila uthe, charaag jhag maga uthe, bas ab na mujhko rok naa, na badke raah rok naa, ki gar mein ruk gayi abhi, toh jaa na paaongi kabhi, yehi kahoge tum sadaa, ki dil abhi nahi bharaa"

She pleads with him to let her go as the sun sets and the lights come on in the distance... and if she did not go then, she may find it difficult to go back... the words and the picturisation said a lot more than what was depicted, which made the whole scene more beautiful.

This song situation is quite similar to the song "Banke panchhi gaaye pyaar ka tarana mil jaaye agar aaj koi saathi mastana" in Anari where a bevy of beautiful girls are cycling along and having fun. Nutan looks gorgeous in a simple salwar kameez. Of course the song ends with the girls colliding with Raj Kapoor. 😊

sanjay leela bhansali, although not my favourite movie maker, I feel picturises songs very well-

jhonka hawa ka, HDDCS- song is in the background. salman khan remembering his ex aishvarya while aishvarya has been shot and is being cared for by her husband ajay devgun.brilliant
also the title song- when aishvarya is just beginning to fall in love with her husband.

also,bahon ke darmiyan from khamoshi

I also love the sad version of this...Jahan Mein Aisa Kaun Hain, Ki jisko Gham Mila Nahin,...

The lyrics are fabulous and the picturisation of this song was also good...Sadhana comforting a depressed Dev...! and this song had the most romantic line.....

tumse mein juda nahin, mujhse tum juda nahin.....*sigh*
