Do you know that once Lata ji said that no music directors could sustain without me. SD was so mad at her for saying this that he did not use Lata ji for 9 years just to prove her wrong.

Is this the time when he started using more of Asha Bhosle.

Was this also one of the reasons for the fight between Mohd. Rafi and Lata ji, for they did not sing together for quite some time

A lovely song from Kati Patang - "Jis gali me tera ghar na ho baalma, us gali se mujhe to guzarna nahi"

Rajesh Khanna has fallen in love with the widow Asha parekh and they are on the boat where Rajesh Khanna sings the sng to persuade her. But Asha parekh is not actually a widow and she goes through very difficult emotions.. The pain is reflected very well.. Personally I never liked Asha Parekh for her overdone histrionics... but I think she was good in this one.. The song from Mukesh is simply superb!

I don't know what was there to get mad about. She was just stating the fact.😉😉😉

This was in the 50's. Lata ji was the same singer then, but did not have the Goddess image. You should also think of the MDs then. All Legends. They are bound to be offended by this comment, but SD proved it wrong by his actions.

Thanks.....................

Just the answer I was looking for 😛

Beautiful song....

Ek din aap yun, humko mil jaayenge,
phoool hi phool rahon mein khil jayenge,
maine socha na thaa......

The rest of the song was also very beautiful. Lemme go find the track. It is so dripped in soft romance

This was another issue (one time payment vs royalties for the songs)... I could expand more on that but sorry, am just too tired right now... As it is, I'm sure adwarakanath ji will explain it better than I ever could hope to 😉

Riddler ji,

Detail please on both the issues. I just knew the headline and posted it. Please give us the detail.

Waheeda's dance was superb, the abhinaya astonishing when she said "saiyaan beimaan". You could feel that she had begun to despise Dev Anand's philandering ways. A fine example of expression through dance. Immediately after her song comes Dev Anand's song "tere pyaar mein chaaha kya, kya mila, bewafaa" in which again Dev's disappointment and hurt shows. The line "tere mere dil ke beech ab to sadiyon ke fassle hain, yakin hoga kise ki hum tum ek raah sang chale hai" has been shown so evocatively that one can't fail to be moved!

Yes, that's one of my favourites too. I would also like to add ' wahan kaun hai tera'- right in the beginning of the movie, when dev anand is released from jail and has no where to go. recounts how everyone in his life ended up hurting him. I can't get over this movie any ways. It is a master piece in every respect

Waheeda rehman was a trained dancer. In fact, she was primarily a dancer before she started acting and she was given a break in CID by guru dutt because of her dancing talent.

Waheeda Rehmaan is a trained Kathak dancer. In fact her dance ballet in Guide, especially the festivals one (sorry, the songs not just coming to my mind now), she contributed quite a bit to the choreography of that dance as well.
