Omg i know 😆 Hrithik better not say anything like that this week :P
A music director saying that for their OWN song would be believable ... and that would truly be an award at the end of the day. Cause how often do you hear MD's comparing contestants to their OWN music - only if they truly mean it right? :D

There are times when the cover done by a reality show contestant is better than the original but that is really rare. Furthermore, I think that it needs to be acknowledged that the singer is limited by the use of the song in the film, how it is picturised, the demands of the MD as well as the movie director and finally whom (the actor) the song is being sung for. On a reality show, the scale can be adjusted, the tempo can be adjusted, extra murkia can be added.... the possibilities are endless. I am particularly offended when someone who does not sing (like Salman Khan for example) says that the contestant should have sung it instead of the original singer. PLEASE -- if we know about the song at all, then it is because the original singer did a very good job on it and made it popular. Salman Khan has done this at least 3 times with Kavita K songs and it is silly to compare these up and coming singers to someone like Kavitaji. It is also not good for the contestants to be encouraged to indirectly disrespect elders -- is this the new parampara of India -- if so, I see a bleak future for Indian music.

This is an interesting way of looking at it @ the bold.

A new perspective, Nice👏

My post was totally referenced to Salman because each and every time he has mentioned to a particular contestant that they have sung better than the original and they should have sung the original. mad annoying. I hope Hrithik won't disappoint!

Most of the times the judges just say something - you never know if they really mean it. They sound sooo dramatic waving hands in air, standing up et al, its quite funny.
I liked Mauli's 'Maiyya Maiyya' which was a one-time wonder as it is called.

Def. Mauli's Maiya Maiya performance is prob one of the few exceptions to this topic. But still credit should be given to the original singer too!

As I mentioned earlier there are other ways to boot up their morale . . . Even if he is saying it all out of pure entertainment its wrong.

LOL. He brings a lot of entertainment on the show, but when it comes down to singing the guy knows nothing. He's always insulting Kavita ji and her singing....Kavita ji is ONE amazing yet underrated singer. Remember Sumesha in challenge 07?! She sung Bahoien Ki Darmiya...And she sung it sooooooooo beautifully no doubt, but seriously do you think she sang better than Kavita ji? :O

Nahh i don't think she was better than the original 😆 I loved Summi's version and still listen to it, but the original is immortal.
