Every part of your body, heart, mind, soul are burning and sugandha was really really best of best. I am happy that she is more than original. I am also happy that you are sad. You never said a single word when sajid said that he never listened such voice/song like sniti.
IMO sniti is a garbage.

Eh, nothings burning in my body. =)
And, Im not trying to offend Suganddha fans over here, I was only stating a brief example that's relative to the topic. Goodness 😆

Maiya Maiya song has been sung mind blowing by anwesha whereas I am not her fan. I am fan of mauli, she sang namak ishq ka brllliantly.

I agree. At the same time, I believe judges would say anything to boost up votes and positive attention for their gharana. The thing that annoys me the most is when judges say it for the wrong performances 😆
For instance, Suganddha was nothing close to Alisha ji's Kajra re 😕 So Vishal's comment was really unnecessary.

If i can think of any, or at least a performance where that comment would be appropriate .. it would be for Maiya Maiya (Mauli) Her performance preserves the memory of the orig AND gives the song something more with her rendition. 😃

That's why I mentioned Mauli's performance in my first post. Her's was an exception. She did sing a ton better than the original singer, but still credit cannot be taken away from the original. Suganddha on the other hand was no where close to the original. She did sing well but you can't match her up to Alisha ji's singing.

oh let me point out when actors say stuff like "you sung better than the original" i don't pay much attention to that because seriously what do actors know about singing? well some do, but most don't and they have admitted that too. but when music directors make such comments its just seriously a shame. there are other ways to boost up the contestants! you don't need to reference the original singer and take credit away from them.

PLEASE don't take my comments in a negative manner. I have nothing against Suganddha. She is a brilliant singer and a beautiful human being. I just had to state what I felt. No one has to agree with me. Keep loving & supporting her if she is your favorite. =)

Hi guys. Hope you haven't forgotten me. I took a step away from this forum.

Anyways what do you guys have to say when judges tell the contestant that they sung better than the original? Honestly I feel that's utter nonsense. I think that in most songs you can't take the credit away from the original singers. There's always an exception like Mauli's Maiya Maiya was clearly better than the original singer. But still how do you feel about these comments? I don't think a contestant should be compared to the original singer in the first place. Everyone has their own unique voice. Neither should credit be taken away from the singers that have originally sung the song. Its an insult to the original singer when the judges say "you sang better than the original." I mean even if they did sing better, why do the judges need to air that on screen? Its a huge insult to the bigger names of the industry. And these music directors should know better! Just my two cents.

@bold : I agree. It would be more awkward if the comments are passed in the presence of the original singer..
Most of the times the judges just say something - you never know if they really mean it. They sound sooo dramatic waving hands in air, standing up et al, its quite funny.
I liked Mauli's 'Maiyya Maiyya' which was a one-time wonder as it is called.

constructive criticism always helps a singer!

and in all honesty alisha ji has done wonders to the song. no one should even try to match up to her or any other singer because everyone is gifted with their own talented voice and they should use that. =)

There are times when the cover done by a reality show contestant is better than the original but that is really rare. Furthermore, I think that it needs to be acknowledged that the singer is limited by the use of the song in the film, how it is picturised, the demands of the MD as well as the movie director and finally whom (the actor) the song is being sung for. On a reality show, the scale can be adjusted, the tempo can be adjusted, extra murkia can be added.... the possibilities are endless. I am particularly offended when someone who does not sing (like Salman Khan for example) says that the contestant should have sung it instead of the original singer. PLEASE -- if we know about the song at all, then it is because the original singer did a very good job on it and made it popular. Salman Khan has done this at least 3 times with Kavita K songs and it is silly to compare these up and coming singers to someone like Kavitaji. It is also not good for the contestants to be encouraged to indirectly disrespect elders -- is this the new parampara of India -- if so, I see a bleak future for Indian music.
