none of this is going to work , then we will start bashing the judges. audience voting is fine, and let people accept the reality.

@ Cal gal, you are right about the bengalis winning one after the other that year and I think it just happend that way. If you ask me I supported Vineet although he messed up in few songs. Debo really did not get a whole lot of support from bengal but the reason he won was due to votes from Assam (I think that is where he is from). I think he has good voice quality but some how he wasn't that consistent with his siniging. As far as Sanchita is concerned she was better amongst the other kids but now she hasn't improved at all. Thanks and have a very Merry Christmas.

If immature teenage girls who go gaga over every other guy contestant who they claim is "hawt" stop voting, public voting wouldn't be such a bad idea. Its actually worked quite well in American Idol, in my opinion. Sure we may not want that one contestant to take the crown, but the right people get to the finale. Sure teenage girls are crazy in America as well, as we have seen cute lovable make it to the Top 12 on looks, but eventually America gets it right. But in India, there have been so many cases where cute guys reach the top --- ie Qazi (Fame Gurukul), Suhit (II3 -- Alisha's lovebird), Mohit (II4-Anu Malik's Hunk), etc.

Good thing the early stages of SRGMP don't have public voting. Or else we'd be seeing Sayon in the finale for his cute looks (no, no that wasn't directed at Cal-Gal at all) 😉

And before King Maurya decides to use my words against me and claim a men-don't-act-like-that stand, I would just like to add that its just as bad among teenage guys. Its just their too lazy too vote. But we've seen examples of that in the past as well -- ie Mauli although I don't like to make such cheap statements, we all know that it was a lot more than Mauli's singing that got her that far last season, call it spunk if you will, I say it was the legs. 😉

😆 😆 😆 ya..i find him cute and smart!!!!!! but like i earlier said...i prioritize his voice rather than his cute looks...so even if i vote for him, it would be for his singing and not for his cuteness...LOL!!!

the shows are funded by Advertisement dollars which is based on TRP currently. Judges etc are part of the costs but if they are good can also to a key selling point.
Contestants are both a key selling point and their cost is negligible.
Based on the above the Public voting system is here to stay I think.
However it can be modified to say what percentage of the vote will be public and what percentage the judges. Judges can also be biased let us not forget.
As to Bengalis winning I have no problems as they are generally more versatile overall. But the winner does not necessarily mean will be the most successful.
I still like a singer to be very good in a certain style and this seems to be the Bollywood trend.
