I somehow dont agree totally that a contestant from a region will get more votes. I know everyone talk about Bengal vote bank, but majority of the people in Calcutta are immigrants from other states and not real Bengalis, whereas most contestants from W.Bengal are Bengalis. The same goes for Mumbai too. Yashita is originally a Punjabi I think and Vaishali is a Maharashtrian. I dont think Mumbai folks will vote for either one based on their region - if that was the case, Kaushik was a mix of both Bengali and Maharashtrian and he could have gotten votes from both regions - then no one can beat that count!!
Since there are no singers from the Southern states in the show, all the votes from that region will be split for the selected favorite for each voter. How did Mitika get eliminated first - all the votes from Punjab and all the Punjabi immigrants around the nation and overseas would have been plenty enough for her to stay until the finale. And let's not forget Asma - no way she can get that many votes to stay until top six! Guranteed!!

Good job Akannaji, finally one person from this forum said something I wanted to hear for a long time. It is not the bengalis who win these contests only. There is no reason to point out that bengalis vote for only bengalis. Infact, as far as I know bengalis are too busy watching bengali shows (at least that's what I see) , some of them even don't know the names of the contestants and believe me they wouldn't spend three ruppees to vote for their contestants.

Oh, thank you bellevue..
I believe that the misconception came up because Bengalis have been winning many contestants - SRGMP 07, L'il Champs 07, Rock n Roll Family, etc. But the truth is that when it comes to music and art, there are so many Bengalis who excel in it... Look at from Tagore to Anamika plus Soumen... So many film directors, music directors, singers, actors, actresses, etc hail from W. Bengal or are of Bengal origin. I have heard from people that many Bengalis have superb voices for singing... So it's not the regional votes but how they capture the audience that they get the votes.. No question, Anamika deserved it 200%, Roy and family were the best on Rock n Roll Family... Though Aneek wasnt my favourite, he wasnt a bad singer either, and so he managed to acquire a fan base around the country and among the NRIs too...

that is what i pointed out as well, i don't know if they get more votes from particular region, but whatever it is we have to accept the reality as this is a reality show. The reality is that the voters don't always vote for the best singer. So the winner is not always the best singer, they can only be judged in the music world, when they release their songs.

Thanks for your post becuase I feel that there are some members feel strongly against the bengali contestants. Many times they refer to bengal as the particular region, may be because of that they will not vote for them no matter what. I know that you liked 07 contestants like Raja and Amanat. They definitely were talented singers but the moment I heard Aneek sing I didn't support any one but him. I even made it a point to go see him all the way from the East coast to LA. He was amazing and not only that a very down to earth guy. I didn't support him because he was from bengal, becuase I have never seen any one singing any and every kind of song such flawlessly.

Thank you guru sharan, I am sorry yes I did notice your post too. I agree with you totally. All is well if it ends well, I guess that is what you mean. Making it big in the music industry is not easy now a days. There was a time when there were only few singers singing in the Bollywood industry. Now I wonder even one makes a name for themselves, how long do they last and how much money do they make by singing in the movies.

I assume this was addressed to me, bellevue.. Yes, I have seen posts like that - the kind you are saying.. I usually dont respond to that.. Yes, in C07, Poonam was my most favorite, and then Raja and Amanat. Aneek came 4th though. I agree he is a good singer, but for some reason, he couldnt get into the top of my list. But in ESBE, I wished for him to win at the end. He is a very good singer indeed, but with Poonam eliminated from top four, I felt a vacuum... Yes, he is humble and I liked the way he was handling Ahmad's jokes in ESBE and how Ahmad was poking him in a loving and caring way... 😃

well, i did say that bengalis always win SRGMP!!! coz that's how it is!!! i don't have any personal issues with bengalis!!!!!!! in fact i was extremely happy when Sanchita won the little champs coz she was the best and she deserved it...and i never criticized her coz she was a bengali...she was my favorite....but the pattern of SRGMP winners is very surprising to me...ALL bengalis...it's not that i don't like them...it's just that sometimes the deserving ones remain behind coz of that!!! eg. in 2005, Vinit was extremely talented...but Debojeet got the highest votes....when Vinit actually deserved to be the winner!!!

if the show is portrayed as a reality show then i am all for public voting. coz how on earth are they gonna thrive without public involvement ?
yes, the equations may not be ideal most of times , but thats the format .

without the public voting the shows will be completely bland. so yes , its definitely a boon in that sense.
