Its actually worked quite well in American Idol, in my opinion. Sure we may not want that one contestant to take the crown, but the right people get to the finale. Sure teenage girls are crazy in America as well, as we have seen cute lovable make it to the Top 12 on looks, but eventually America gets it right. But in India, there have been so many cases where cute guys reach the top --- ie Qazi (Fame Gurukul), Suhit (II3 -- Alisha's lovebird), Mohit (II4-Anu Malik's Hunk), etc.
Good thing the early stages of SRGMP don't have public voting. Or else we'd be seeing Sayon in the finale for his cute looks (no, no that wasn't directed at Cal-Gal at all) 😉
And before King Maurya decides to use my words against me and claim a men-don't-act-like-that stand, I would just like to add that its just as bad among teenage guys. Its just their too lazy too vote. But we've seen examples of that in the past as well -- ie Mauli although I don't like to make such cheap statements, we all know that it was a lot more than Mauli's singing that got her that far last season, call it spunk if you will, I say it was the legs. 😉

i dont necessarily think the audience picks the right singer.....the indian audience always votes with their heart and not their head!!

Hey, Sayon had a good voice too. Ashaji spoke high about his pitching as well.. Dont get me wrong now, I dont care about the looks for a singing competition, but voice, sur, taal and attitude do matter to me! 😃

Yes...Sayon's voice was heavenly!!!!!!! amazing!!!!!outstanding!!!!!!! 👏he was the best among all the male contestants, i think.

it should be a combo of judges and audience voting i think.

even this option does not work. take nach baliye 4 eg. where the deserving contestants have been voted while poor dancers r still going strog due 2 popularity. the audience always votes based on things which r remotely concerned wid singing or dancing. it shud only b a panel of judges who will make unbaised judgement. tht is the oly option.

b4 indian idol started SRGMP did not have audience voting. then v had gud singers like shreya come out of it. even the winners were well deserving as the judges knew who sang well n who din. but wid audience voting introduced n judges juzz giving a completely senseless rating called hit superhit history etc can v ever get a deserving contestant win a reality shows.

while voting the viewers do not take into consideration how gud n consistent the singer is but which state he is from, how handsome he is (whether he has sexy curly hair etc) n other non-singing factors. this is another reason v don have galz winning bcoz most of the viewers who vote r galz n they vote 4 boyz. hence galz end up high n dry. an example is indian idol 4. v have had 3 gud singers who r galz eliminated.

wht is the use of judges scores n comments if people r not gonna listen 2 them. the chosen one believes tht either they shud scrap the audience voting which is unlikely as the producers will loose out on money or change the format. such tht the judges choose the bottom 4 n audience saves the best 3. this may 2 an extent produce desirable results.

he has a gud voice but his singing ability is limited. he is limited 2 certain genres only. v need more versatile singers. the king agrees u mentioned only abt voice but earlier in another thread cal-gal had mentioned abt looks. thts y the king pointed out. do u think the king will dare pick on u😊
