Congratulations everyone above (aside from myself) for their respective milestones. Quite interesting to see so many milestones hit simultaneously.

Vibs, you're just 19 short of 500 yourself. I'm rooting for you & Ananya to both hit goldie before me😆👏

Prompted by Ananya, I happened to google Ramakatha rasavahini and found this website vahini.org It has the details of Dasaratha' wedding with Kausalya and mention of his wedding to Sumitra. As per this Sumitra is from Kashi while Dasaratha's mother Indumathi was from Magadh.
And Ananya Congo..........yippee.....👏

Okay, thanks for this link.

Indumati, as per Kalidas's Raghuvansa, was from Vidharbha. There is that story that shortly after her Swayamvar and marriage to Aja, the other suitors, who were all rulers that Raghu had subjugated, tried to take their revenge on Aja by starting a battle against the wedding party. Leaving Indumati in the care of some officials, Aja fought a tough battle, and finally used a javelin given to him by a Gandharva that put all his enemies to sleep (not kill them). Once that was done, he and Indumati returned to Ayodhya, and shortly thereafter, Raghu handed over the kingdom to them.

Sumitra, you could be right about. Just that a careful reading of the Valmiki site has 1-13-26 listing the rulers of Kosala & Magadh in the same verse. While it's true that due to Kaikeyi's status as favorite, Kekaya was mentioned first (1-13-24), there is nothing to suggest that Dasharath prefered Kaushalya to Sumitra or vice versa. Therefore, it could be implicitly implied that the rulers of Kosala & Magadh were mentioned as Dasharath's in-laws.

Chandraketu, I too read that part of Raghuvamsa (an excerpt from a book that had analaysed some parts of the epic poem in Tamil) recently. Aja fought all his enemies all alone. It was a tough battle but Aja was faster than everyone put together. The Gandhanrva's name was Priyamvadha, if I'm not mistaken. (Let me check it once again). And he put all his enemies to sleep. He also showed Indumathi what he had done and it was said that Indumathi, though she couldn't tell him directly how happy she was over his victory, told all her friends and nature and celebrated his victory with joy. As you said, that book mentioned that Aja returned with Indhumathi to Ayodhya (it was mentioned that they got married in Ayodhya) and shortly thereafter Raghu made Aja the king.
In the Kambaramayan, in the chapters that speak about Lord Ram's ancestors, it was mentioned that -
Just like Goddess Lakshmi put a garland around Lord Vishnu after the churning of the milk ocean, Indhumathi too put a garland (in marriage) around Aja's neck after he churned the sea of enemies he faced.

By all means scientific explanations are most welcome and you can post them here itself 😊
We would love to learn a logical and a mytological explanation together.
Knowing the scientific explanations that back up the myths will strengthen a person's faith.

I doubt if I can make it to the Goldie status before you Chandraketu. But you'll be there to welcome us when we reach there, won't you? 😉
Chandraketu, you have become the score keeper of the whole forum . . . Thanks for reminding me whenever I make it beyond a certain level. 😊
