What was Yayati's curse? Did he curse the 4 of his sons who refused to interchange their youth with his lack of it?

P.S. Ananya, looks like the 2nd time - can't remember the first. I too noticed, but forgot to mention, that this Karkati story is totally tangential to this serial, since Rama never crosses her path - it's Mahadev who kills her son.

Thank you Deepa, Chandraketu, Ananya for explaining it to me. I was wondering what was going on when Malyavan was introduced as Ravan's maternal grandfather but I thought I was mistaken somewhere. Now its clear to me. I never knew the names of the brothers of Sumali. I just knew Sumali's daughter was Kekasi and the that she married the sage Visravas. I never knew that the Rakshas were originally living in Lanka and Kuber occupied it later. I was under the impression that the place was Kuber's from the first.

A friend of mine told me a story of why Lanka was never blessed - I think it is a folk tale but I have never found any further information supporting it. What was told to me was that Lanka was created as per the wishes of Parvati Devi and when Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati were about to live in the place and they were worshiping the land and giving gifts to Brahmans, Kekasi asked for the land itself as a gift. Though they couldn't refuse, Parvati cursed that the land will never be blessed and will not flourish with the Rakshas in it. But I find this tale incredible.

I have read Kumbheenasi's story and I thought Ravan would have learned his lesson by that incident but no . . .

Though tangential, I think it was good that they showed it now. As Bheema grows up with revenge for Ram in his mind. Who knows, we may find some kind of trouble in Ayodhya because if Bheem or atleast I think the story will go towards Lavanasur harrassing the sages after he hears from Karkati. My guesses again . . .

I thought it was Devayani's children who became the Yadhuvanshi and Puru and his descendants became the Chandravanshi. Did Yayati curse them to be disowned from the Chandravanshi?

Yup Yayati curses his four sons Yadu, Druhyu, Anu, Turavasu (for not exchanging their youth with him) that they'll not be entitled to be called as Chandravanshis and also banishes them out of his territory. Yes Bhimasur was killed by Shiv and the place where he's killed is known as Bhima-Shankar.

I thought it was Sharmishta's children who became the Yadhuvanshi and Puru and his descendants became the Chandravanshi. Did Yayati curse them to be disowned from the Chandravanshi?

I think it is Devayani's children who become the Yadhuvanshi and Sarmishta's children (Puru and his descendents) who continue the Chandravanshi line.

Sorry, my mistake.

Puru and his descendents were the Yadhuvanshi and Sharmishta's sons started the Yadhuvanshi. I'll edit my previous post as well.

Thnx Ananya & Chandraketu for correcting me, I was thinking 2 were killed and 1 survived of the three bros. But now I know 2survived. So probably KKchachu trip with Sumali happened, but still the qn. remains unanswered as to when he made this trip?😊

Probably Sagars are trying for a sort of anticlimax, when everyone watching this serial is expecting a RamBhim fight but theres only a ShivBhim fight....😉

Probably they are targeting the anticlimax, but I am sort of expecting a Ram - Shiv interaction before the end of Bheemasur.

bt as u all say karkati depicted the rakshasi in her

and for kk chacha i posted elsewhere this

kk chacha had a boon of waking up for one day only

so in one day he eats he meets his family he meets ravan he goes to sahyadris seeks help and meets karkati has gandhrave vivah gets her pregnnat and goes bck to sleep and wakes up again for war and is killed

and karakti is left in hills mayb not aware of what happend eh
