chatter & mallika u deserve 👏

Yep, Chatter & Mallika, thanks for talking to them.

Talking about Ravan, the only way I can see him returning is if they show the story of Madhu capturing Kumbheenashi - that was when Ravan invaded Madhupura, but Kumbheenashi told him that she had already married him, and that if he killed him, she'd be widowed. Ravan then befriended Madhu and went on to invade Indra.

I don't see how Karkati could possibly have known Lavanasura - Madhupura (Mathura) and Shayadri are nowhere near each other, are they?

poor vajramala !!!! i wish Kumbhkaran didnot deceive bajramala !!!

I'd think Vajramala knew. As it is, Mandodari had her co-wives, so Vajramala may not have minded having one of her own. However, while Vajramala was shown as pretty refined, Karkati comes out as a very uncouth rakshashi.

Sita

Madhupura was renamed Mathura under Shatrughan. Madhupura was named after Madhu, Lavanasura's father, and Shatrughan chose not to keep it that way.

Note that Shri Krishna was Chandravansh, whereas Shatrughan was Suryavansh.

A good episode today. Beautiful scenes in Ayodhya especially the farewell. Vikram ji was wonderful in his acting. The scene between Hanuman and Ram was too beautiful for words.

It was good to see Kumbhkaran back and the chemistry between him and Karkati was portrayed well (though it was short).
One more doubt - in the episode where people were mourning Ravan's death, Ravan's nana was introduced as Malyavan. And now, Kumbhkaran's nana was shown to be Sumali. I am confused between the two - have I missed some thing due to my ignorance of the language?
The demons, by themselves, are barbaric. In the chapters where Kumbhkara was woken up, it was mentioned that he consumes many buffaloes and other animals and roared with his mighty voice. I think only rare cases like Vibhishan and Prahalad were not barbaric.
I am not sure if all of the Rakshas Kul knew about Karkati but I think atleast Kumbhkaran's close relatives knew about her.
I have read the story of Madhu and Kumbheenasi and I wonder if it was the same battle that Meghnad got the title of Indrajeet. I thought it was a different battle but that gives rise to a doubt - how many times did Ravan attack the heavens?
I wonder how and when the Chandravanshi came back to Mathura and what happened to Shathrugan's descendants . . . I had no idea Madhu was Chandravanshi . . .
Karkati may have heard about Lavanasur but I can't imagine Karkati joining forces with him to attack Ayodhya.

I think mathura is present day Mathura in UP, while Sahyadri hills are in Maharashtra near Pune. I guess they would have been sort of reachable.
But still, dont know how Karkati would have known Lavanasur.......

That's a good observation Vibs, you are right, it was Malyavan then and Sumali now.
They were three bros - Mali, Sumali & Malyavan... But forgot who was the actual nana, ie whose daughter was Kaikasi. Also I think 2 of these bros are killed by Vishnu and Kaikasi & her father escape from Lanka, and then Kaikasi marries Vishrava and so on........ So meaning RKV would have seen only one nana😕............

Vibs

Sumali = father of Kaikesi => grandfather of RKVS

Malyavan = brother of Sumali, father of Prahast

Sumali, Malyavan and Malee were the 3 rakshasha brothers who attacked Vishnu. After Vishnu killed Malee, the other 2 fled from Lanka to Pataal. Then Sumali used Kaikesi to get to Visharva, and by that marriage, Ravan & Kumbhakarna.

The term 'nana' was used generically to denote mother's father or uncle.

I don't know how many times Ravan attacked devalok. However, on this occasion, the reason Madhu managed to abduct Kumbheenashi (the chor ke ghar chori as we noted in a past thread about Ravan's deeds, achievements and setbacks) was that Ravan was at war with Pataal at the time he widowed Shurpanakha, Indrajit was with Shukracharya doing his vow of silence, Kumbhakarna was asleep, and Vibshishan was doing some water meditation. As a result, none of them were there to protect Kumbheenashi from getting abducted and married. Personally, I find this story the funniest in the Ramayan, rivaled only by the story of Raja Hila.

I have no idea how many times Ravan went to war with Indra. Kumbhakarna is known to have defeated Indra once (before he got his sleep boon), Ravan's son Devantak too defeated the devas, Indrajit we all know. I too had no idea that Madhu was of the Chandravansh - I thought that he was a rakshasha.

We need new rakshashologists here. Too many questions about all our favorite rakshashas! 😆

,Mali,Malyavan and Sumali were brothers Mali was killed by Vishnu and they' were driven out of Lanka, which later was taken by Kuber. Kekasi daughter of Sumali marries Vishrava ; Sumali's grandsons are Ravan, Kumbhakarna, Vibhishan....guess u might be knowing. Nana means maternal grandfather.
Madhu was a Yadu vanshi, they're not called chandravanshis because of Yayati's curse.
I was thinking whether Karkati story was necessary in this serial😕 She or even her son never fight against Ram.
