Gaurav Kapur recalls first conversation with wife Kritika Kamra: 'She has a long view of life'

Actor and host Gaurav Kapur recently shared details about the beginning of his relationship with actor Kritika Kamra. The couple married in a private ceremony on March 11, 2026, and later hosted a reception attended by friends and colleagues from the industry. Until the wedding, both had largely kept their relationship away from the public eye. While rumours about them circulated for months, neither had spoken openly about how their relationship began.

In a recent conversation with Manifest India, Gaurav reflected on the first time he spoke with Kritika. According to him, the conversation quickly became comfortable and natural. What began as a simple phone call eventually stretched to nearly an hour. The interaction left a strong impression on him, particularly because of Kritika’s calm and thoughtful nature. “I remember the first time we spoke very clearly. We talked for an hour, and it was just easy. What surprised me was her calmness. I’m very reactive, very instant, and she has a long view on life. We complement each other that way. Commitment now means having her back always, making sure she can be the best version of herself. She’s the plane, I just try to be the tailwind pushing her forward.”

Kritika also spoke about the choices she made for her wedding outfits. The actor said she did not intend to create a dramatic fashion moment. Instead, she wanted to wear something that felt personal and familiar. For the ceremony, she selected a sari from her mother’s brand, Chanderi, explaining that the fabric reminded her of home.

“I wasn’t trying to make a statement. I just wanted to feel like myself. The sari was always going to happen. It’s from my mother’s brand, it’s Chanderi, it’s home. The Dior was personal in another way. I studied Galliano in college, so wearing a vintage piece felt full circle. Both outfits had a story, and that mattered more than anything else.”

Before confirming their relationship publicly, the two were often spotted spending time together in Mumbai. Observers noticed them on quiet walks and casual outings, but they rarely addressed the speculation. The relationship became official only months before the wedding when Kritika shared a photo of two coffee cups marked “Bubby” and a collage from a breakfast outing on social media.

The couple also share a noticeable age gap. Kritika, born on October 25, 1988, is seven years younger than Gaurav, who was born on April 11, 1981 in New Delhi.
