I'll try & steer this discussion back to the Ramayan.
One question - why did Bharat, who wept at Rama having to sleep on the ground, make Rama walk barefoot, which would surely have been more uncomfortable? He should have taken his padukas and given him substitute footwear. Also Sita - why did she have to be barefoot when going into exile? Didn't women wear footwear in those days? In the serial, all women are shown wearing footwear - Mandodari, Anjani, even the 3 rajmatas. (In fact, yesterday, Anjani was even wearing it while preparing the alpana(?) to welcome Rama.) Or was it that there was nothing rugged that would withstand 14 years of wear? What is shown is the opposite of what's normal - one could walk barefoot in the comfy palace, but one would definitely need padukas or something if one was going into exile. All 3 of them should have worn that, with Rama taking an extra pair to give Bharat.
I do hope they show them wearing fine shoes. In the previous Uttar Ramayan, everybody, except Vaishistha & Valmiki, were shown barefoot.
