When Ram refuses, he asks Ram to step on the princely gem studded paduka for a minute and then places that paduka on his head. He does not take the paduka that Ram wears for the vanvas. I was very surprised when I was reading Valmiki Ramayan the other day. I always believed that Bharat took Ram's vanvas padukas with him because that is the way it is shown in the movies and serials.

You are right Mandodari ji. I totally forgot that Bharat brought a pair of royal sandals and asked Ram to place his foot on those and took it back to Ayodhya. I am becoming very forgetful these days . . . 😕🤢

Is it true that Bharat carries the Rama's paduka on the royal elephant and not on his head??

Agreed. However, while deviations are deviations, somehow, the 2 incidents you mention aren't as story altering as the one I cited about Duryodhan cremating Karna (and there are far more throughout the MBH). You might have picked a more stark example in Kumbhakarna falling asleep in battle, which was funny, yet story altering (unless any of the other translations have that), or Kaushalya, Sumitra & Urmila reconciling with Kaikeyi, or Shurpanakhas prominence in the Yudhya-kand.

At any rate, your original point is well taken.

I feel that Sita slapping the rakshasi is pretty big and outrageous. Sita was a Mahasati who had control over her feelings and mind. She did not go slapping people like a common woman. I found this deviation from her characterization pretty unacceptable, but the past is the past, and the Sagars have improved with her characterization now so it's okay.
BRC's Mahabharat may not have been perfect, but then, no serial is, even if it is made by the Sagars. All mythologicals deviate from the original story at some points to please the public. BRC's MB may not have been perfect, and I agree that it did make up some stories, but it is the best Mahabharat Serial directed up to date, and it received a lot of public praise. Maybe in the future, some one may make a better one, but so far, BRC's is the best, and I personally felt it correctly captured the soul of the Great Mahabharat Epic.

If people had paid attention to the terms of the exile and that it was the last year - the year they should be hidden in cities, they would have found out who they really were. Nakul, Sahadev, Yudhishtr and draupadi were all too prominent to have been mistaken for someone else. Yudhishtr was really intelligent. Nakul and Sahadev were too good with horses, cattle and weapons. Draupadi wore her hair loose at all times - as she had taken an oath not to bind it till she had the blood of the ones who humiliated her. And the incident when Draupadi called out to her 'five Gandharva husbands' was another clue.

I respect Sita11's request not to turn this into a Mahabarat dicussion, but I just want to answer Vibhishna's question.
Surya Dev granted a boon to the Pandavas (before their 13th year) that no matter how obvious they make it, no one will be able to suspect that they are the Pandavas until the 13th year is over. So yes, it was pretty obvious that they were the Pandavas and Draupadi, but due to Surya Dev's boon, no one noticed.

Sita

Agreed! Didn't mean to participate in derailing the thread, just got carried away by the discussion on Krishna's adventures.

I've driven the topic back to Ramayan

Mandodari

That's actually the best example, because it just demonstrates a shamelessness which Kaikeyi may likely not have had at that point in time. Particularly her comment to Bharat about how Rama struggling in battle would be good for him (Bharat) when it was ather behest that Rama had to leave, not Bharat's.

Crocodiles??? Probably, but much more than that. I think princes and kings prefer deer, boars, bears, lions, tigers for game. If this is the case, I'd guess it was deer. Becasue deer would provide good meat and its skin is useful to.

I didn't mean to deviate from the topic. As Chandraketu said, we all got carried away by the discussion.
Thanks Chandraketu for bringing us back to Ramayan.

I forgot the smiley😆 and you missed the joke😉 I was talking about the modern fashion craze - the crocs - which seems popular both in India & the US. It transforms between removable slippers & shoes with just the ankle band - and is very handy both indoors & outdoors.

My double entendre😆😆
