Social media personality Monalisa Bhosle, who became widely known after a video from the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj went viral in 2025, has married her boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala. The interfaith wedding took place on March 11 at the Sri Nainar Deva Temple after the couple sought police protection amid opposition from her family.
Monalisa, a resident of Indore in Madhya Pradesh, first gained public attention when a video showed her selling garlands during the Mahakumbh gathering. The clip spread widely on social media and turned her into an unexpected internet figure. In recent weeks, however, the focus shifted to her personal life after she approached authorities in Kerala, saying her family objected to her relationship with Farman, an actor and model from Maharashtra.
According to officials, Monalisa requested protection as tensions with her family increased. After conducting a preliminary inquiry, police confirmed that she is legally an adult and has the right to decide whom to marry. The couple then moved ahead with their wedding plans in Thiruvananthapuram, where the temple ceremony was arranged with the help of people close to them.

Their online interaction gradually turned into a relationship. However, their families reportedly opposed the match because they belong to different religious communities. Reports suggested that her father, Jai Singh Bhosle, wanted her to marry a relative chosen by the family. The disagreement led the couple to travel to Kerala seeking support.
The situation escalated when Monalisa was in the state for the shooting of her debut Malayalam film Nagamma. During this time, her father allegedly tried to take her back to their hometown. This prompted the couple to approach the Thampanoor police station. Station House Officer Jijukumar told The Indian Express, "She (Monalisa) said her family wanted to marry her off to a distant relative. She was against that. The crew of the film she is working on also came to the station with her. As she is 18, we allowed her to go with Farman. Her father, who also came to the police station, was sent back."
Following this clarification, the marriage ceremony took place with several public figures present. Among them were V Sivankutty, A A Rahim and M V Govindan. Speaking at the event, Rahim said, "This is the real Kerala story. The couple has realised that they are safe only in Kerala, where all their constitutional rights will be protected. As adults, they are free to live together. Monalisa was afraid to go back to her home state. Kerala is safe for the couple."
