Nice post! OK my take on Rehan.
Rehan did say to Seher when he confessed his love that "Sometimes to get love you must speak up. I am not going to let love walk out of my life a 2nd time!". I think he knew that he had made a mistake not confessing to Sanam earlier, because he knows he missed his chance. She may or may not have accepted him, but at least he knows he tried. Maybe one reason why he moved too fast with Seher. Fear that his chance will slip away again.
Also, Rehan liked Sanam as a person first. He liked her steady and strong nature. Her ambition to be independent again. He also knew Aahil had treated her unfairly. So he has some sympathy there too, and maybe even some guilt for having helped Aahil to stop her from leaving town once etc. (Dont remember all the details). But Rehan was always this steady and strong guy. His major flaw was hiding his Ammi's true nature from Aahil. But we have discussed that before. I think his feelings for Sanam were GENUINE, and he cared for her a lot. It was his first love.
Unlike popular opinion, he did not back off from Sanam for Aahil! He backed off from Sanam for Sanam! THAT is what I respect the most about Rehan! Even after the SAHIL marriage, Tanveer gave Rehan the impression that Sanam will divorce Aahil and they may have another chance. He even left Bangles for her on Chaand Raat. He totally backed off ONLY when he realised that Sanam had fallen for Aahil. That little "Speech" she gave about how "Aahil has a Masoom Dil!" The small smile he gave as she thanked him for being a "Good friend!" THAT was when he realized, this girl will NEVER be mine! Unlike FAIZ who started to act like a scorned PSYCHO, Rehan conceded defeat and backed away!
SO when Aahil confronted him, he told a few home truths as well. As in "Are you only concerned coz she is your wife, or is there more to it?" I think that was the moment Rehan realised, this feeling between SAHIL is mutual. Aahil has fallen for Sanam, and Sanam for Aahil! So like a TRUE gentlemen, he backed off! He didnt turn into a CLICHE negative nut case, but decided to move on, and he DID, with Seher! Some may find that relationship odd, but I thought it was legitimate. At that point he harbored NO thoughts of perusing Sanam. She was a closed chapter for him. So it was fine that he opened another chapter with Seher. The fact that she LOOKED like Sanam was the sticking point! :) But I think he genuinely loved her. Because after finding out she was a Con and breaking up with her, HE realised he was wrong and wanted her back. So he loved her despite all her faults and not being perfect! Unlike Sanam, who he always saw as this "Ideal" girl! So Rehan loved Seher for who she was and who she was not as well. I think their love was sincere. From both sides.
As for Shaad? Well "Jannat" is this non existent mirage. A person HE has created. He has only seen glimpses of the real person that she is. Not enough to say this is "Love" and it was too rushed. Their relationship has no honesty. So on that score alone it is a fail and cannot be categorized as love. In Shaad's case I think the feeling is some sort of obsessive possessiveness. He also has got this "Savior" complex and he thinks somehow that HE can keep her safe, when it is actually due to HIM that she is in danger. He knows she is in love with another man. Also, she told him when they first met that she "knew" someone was out there that loved her more than life! So he KNOWS very well, that she is already taken! But he doesn't care! Where as REHAN cared when he knew that Sanam had fallen for Aahil, and he RESPECTED her choice and her right to make it. He backed off because he knew she was not his! That is after being her freind and having a close relationship with her BEFORE Aahil did. But Shaad? This girl could be someone's wife, even Mother, but that appears to not concern him in the least! So to me, what he feels is some sort of delusional obsession for a non existent person called "Jannat". NOT true love for the real women "Sanam" who he does not even know!
