Very interesting topic...

I so loved Rehan. From the start.
I loved his calm reassuring smile, his steadfastness.
He's the kind of guy friend I would have cherished in real life, if not married him myself, match made him to the the best nicest girl and wished him the best his whole life...

" I don't want much in life, I want an honest, decent living, filled with family and happiness..."

His one statement melted me and made me his fan. Lovely character.

Eversince Sanam arrived at the Ibrahim mansion, he watched as Aahil and her locked horns and fought. He gave her moral support in each of the ridiculous tasks Aahil gave her, helped her in little ways (without interfering and making things worse), and even cheered when she eventually emerged victorious and taught Aahil a lesson.

In the times when Sanam was waxing lyrical about how horrid Aahil was, Rehan would be the calming person. Telling her not to hate, but see the other side of things, Aahil is not as bad as she thought, he might've been the one to inadvertently make Sanam see the good side of Aahil.

When he couldn't stop Aahil from bullying her (he did try to talk Aahil out of it) he tried to help her instead. That lovely conversation on the garden in the moonlight when they spoke of things that made them happy.

That was when he saw Sanam. The girl with the simple wishes, who dreamt of a happy life with her family. He saw himself fit in that dream. Better still he wanted to give it to her, to make her wishes and dreams come true.

I cannot explain how bittersweet it felt to see him yearn for family and a comfortable house filled with love. The vulnerability I saw in his character brought out my protective side. Then he started trying to make life better for Sanam.

He untied his hands and started defending her from the bullies in the house: Nida, Begum Sahiba, Khala Khalu. That one monologue he had, where he expressed anger at the people in the house "Who do these people think they are anyway? How dare they do this to a person who hasn't harmed anyone! How dare they think they can get away with bullying Sanam! I must take her away from here immediately !!"

"But how?"

That was when marriage appeared as an option. In his haste in wanting to protect her from her tormentors and to make her dreams come true, he jumped from a crush to aspiring suitor. He saw a way out for him too.

SO he went to see Badi Ammi, and Dilshaad saw the honest gentleman in him, I must admit, I teared up along with Dilshaad. He was so incredibly sweet to ask for her permission first, because he knew how important Badi Ammi was to Sanam.

Armed with her approval, he bought a ring. Even tried respectfully to inform his Ammi first, meeting her disapproval, stood his ground and went ahead. But he didn't know his Ammi would mess up his life so badly, by using monetary aid to trap Sanam into marrying Aahil.

He was angry, quite angry, to the extent of telling off Aahil. He stuck around because he sensed Sanam so very unhappy, and felt her being swallowed up by her tormentors. But he slowly saw that she was coping well, despite her forced marriage, seeing the good in Aahil and willing to try and make it work.

Then he realized she was able to fend for herself, and didn't need his help. And Aahil started behaving possessively toward her, and it became clear. Aahil and Sanam loved each other.
So he left.

But Soup, although for Sanam, I really wanted someone like Rehan. But the dynamics of the relationship is a bit intricate.

Sanam took care of Aahil, helps him through his issues.
But it was Rehan who helped Sanam with her issues, her anger and misunderstanding with Aahil; her search for her parents' truth, was her pillar of support in rough times.

But who cared for Rehan?

Seher.

She cared when he went hungry. She listened to his angst and misery about his mother. She listened to his loneliness and gave him company. She showed him little acts of kindness that people do to make others happy. She was a dose of happiness and whimsy his life lacked.

What Seher gave Rehan, was what he wanted. Someone to call his own, who cared about him as much as he did them. Giving and taking. And when he saw it, he grabbed it quickly.

Who can forget their first love?
That new feeling of shyness and sweetness, untouchable joy.

But would you give up who you ended up with now, (happy or not😆) for that memory?

I believe Rehan ended up with the one who suited him better, as did Sanam.

I am still feeling over sensitive to talk about Shaad. He is making a selfish mistake right now.
But I wouldn't condemn him from finding the one whom is better suited with him later. Someone who isn't someone else's wife.

they didn't develop his character enough for a fair comparison Soup.
Neither is he a good son to his Father, or a great Nephew to his adoring Phupho.
Only a Son who misses his Ammi a lot.

It was so beautiful sage, it actually brought tears to my eyes, Rehaan n Sanam were a cherishable bond, n i adored them, though i always wanted SaHil together but this one sidedlove if Rehan made me feel for him so much,,,,, how i wish Writers had executed it the way like u hv written about SeHaan, i wal looking firward to SeHaan without a negative thing in my mind , but honestly more than the rushing track of their romance, i liked SeHan more during AhEr days, there was certain calm, meaningfulness during those days,,,,,

I had wished similar thing with Shaad n SaHil triangle but they did screw it up

👏👏👏

Wish I could double like your post, Sage...or ten times...😳

It is like KV said about his marriage...We go for the person who loves us...not necessarily the one we love...

In that respect Rehaan and Seher loved each other- First love or not😳..

Sanam and Ahil were first loves who ended up forever...😳

And now we have Shaad.

Would Shaad be Misbah's first love?

Nice post! OK my take on Rehan.

Rehan did say to Seher when he confessed his love that "Sometimes to get love you must speak up. I am not going to let love walk out of my life a 2nd time!". I think he knew that he had made a mistake not confessing to Sanam earlier, because he knows he missed his chance. She may or may not have accepted him, but at least he knows he tried. Maybe one reason why he moved too fast with Seher. Fear that his chance will slip away again.

Also, Rehan liked Sanam as a person first. He liked her steady and strong nature. Her ambition to be independent again. He also knew Aahil had treated her unfairly. So he has some sympathy there too, and maybe even some guilt for having helped Aahil to stop her from leaving town once etc. (Dont remember all the details). But Rehan was always this steady and strong guy. His major flaw was hiding his Ammi's true nature from Aahil. But we have discussed that before. I think his feelings for Sanam were GENUINE, and he cared for her a lot. It was his first love.

Unlike popular opinion, he did not back off from Sanam for Aahil! He backed off from Sanam for Sanam! THAT is what I respect the most about Rehan! Even after the SAHIL marriage, Tanveer gave Rehan the impression that Sanam will divorce Aahil and they may have another chance. He even left Bangles for her on Chaand Raat. He totally backed off ONLY when he realised that Sanam had fallen for Aahil. That little "Speech" she gave about how "Aahil has a Masoom Dil!" The small smile he gave as she thanked him for being a "Good friend!" THAT was when he realized, this girl will NEVER be mine! Unlike FAIZ who started to act like a scorned PSYCHO, Rehan conceded defeat and backed away!

SO when Aahil confronted him, he told a few home truths as well. As in "Are you only concerned coz she is your wife, or is there more to it?" I think that was the moment Rehan realised, this feeling between SAHIL is mutual. Aahil has fallen for Sanam, and Sanam for Aahil! So like a TRUE gentlemen, he backed off! He didnt turn into a CLICHE negative nut case, but decided to move on, and he DID, with Seher! Some may find that relationship odd, but I thought it was legitimate. At that point he harbored NO thoughts of pursuing Sanam again. She was a closed chapter for him. So it was fine that he opened another chapter with Seher. The fact that she LOOKED like Sanam was the sticking point! :) But I think he genuinely loved her. Because after finding out she was a Con and breaking up with her, HE realised he was wrong and wanted her back. So he loved her despite all her faults and not being perfect! Unlike Sanam, who he always saw as this "Ideal" girl! So Rehan loved Seher for who she was and who she was not as well. I think their love was sincere. From both sides.

As for Shaad? Well "Jannat" is this non existent mirage. A person HE has created. He has only seen glimpses of the real person that she is. Not enough to say this is "Love" and it was too rushed. Their relationship has no honesty. So on that score alone it is a fail and cannot be categorized as love. In Shaad's case I think the feeling is some sort of obsessive possessiveness. He also has got this "Savior" complex and he thinks somehow that HE can keep her safe, when it is actually due to HIM that she is in danger. He knows she is in love with another man. Also, she told him when they first met that she "knew" someone was out there that loved her more than life! So he KNOWS very well, that she is already taken! But he doesn't care! Where as REHAN cared when he knew that Sanam had fallen for Aahil, and he RESPECTED her choice and her right to make it. He backed off because he knew she was not his! That, after being her friend and having a close relationship with her BEFORE Aahil did. But Shaad? This girl could be someone's wife, even Mother, but that appears to not concern him in the least! So to me, what he feels is some sort of delusional obsession for a non existent person called "Jannat". NOT true love for the real women "Sanam" who he does not even know!

Wow Mandy!👏

I think almost all of us here connected well with Rehaan- Sanam love story- one sided as it was...and are capable of seeing it maturely...

And it is really unfair that when questions are raised at Shaad, it is brushed off as a mad fan's ramblings!

Wish people would really take the story in its essence before they pass on judgement.😳

Anyway...Thank U so much for Ur wonderful analysis.🤗

The heart of the matter is that it's not even acknowledged what he's doing. I think most of us will agree, that's the worse thing.

Is he justified in his eyes? Then that goes against the argument that he knows he's wrong.

I don't even hate him. I never have. He's not worth it. I have even pitied him. But those are fleeting moments because otherwise what he's doing is hardly acknowledged and will be brushed past. In short, I am indifferent.

Comparing him to forgiven rapists or murderers, well even those who forgive realize the gravity of what they did. The full depth of what was done is not lost or ignored.

Is that going to happen with Sanam/Jannat--I highly doubt it. if it happens, then I am glad. But if it's not? Then people will be harsh on him.

Give him a chance to redeem himself? Why should he get that chance to redeem himself on his own terms with maybe one or two quick actions? No reaction to his actions from others, not even himself really. What, really, we're going to see him beat himself up over what he's done when he hasn't done so till now or even cared to? I doubt it.

Am I against forgiveness? No. Not at all. I have even said, I don't even need him to be punished. But forgiveness without acknowledgment, yes I cannot get behind. But I know that is what will most likely happen.

The best we can do is ignore this and wait for the story to move. That is all.

And I know that's what you are saying too, and that is what we are doing. Ignore it the best we can and wait for the story to move. But that doesn't mean there won't be harshness. He doesn't give much reason for people NOT to be harsh with him. And that is that makers' own fault.

For forgiveness to be received, one has to repent. I mean...the giver may give it out of her magnanimity...but if U have to receive it, U have to repent with your heart...then forgiveness will be given without asking.

So..Yes... REPENTANCE has to come! 😳..

If not verbally projected, through actions...will most definitely come, I feel.😊

Coming to rehan as u said he knew sanam in & out. He was her friend first. Mostly he fell for the character of sanam. Very loyal & straightforward. Just like him. He choose the correct path. He met her guardian first. Her badi ammi. He was ready to propose her. But destiny has another plans. Destiny made two people tied together b4 they knew the love each other. Frankly it was rehan who understood that even b4 they both have understood. That's y he moved out from IH. Yes he was broken. But as I said destiny has its own plans. His broken heart was healed by none other than the look alike twin of his first love. Yes there story was rushed ( they were planning to shut the show in October.) but if u c there was time between there story. One month seher was with rehan in the guest house of kohinoor. It was seher who was first fall for rehan. She couldn't recognise it till rehan said it out. Truly they both deserved a happy life. But cvs an I won't go to that area. If sanam & rehan has married they would have made such a boring kid in the world. They both are too similar.
Coming to shad I really hope he moves out with dignity from sahils life once he learn the truth. Towards the end of the day sahil going to be together. I really hope he meets someone who truly loves him. ( hopefully that's not seher this time. It's unfair for the girl to get a guy who romanced with her twin. At least rehan never had any tacky scenes with sanam. He always maintained a distance from sanam.)

👏

I feel the CVs gave a befitting end to Rehaan because they wanted to keep Seher's story alive...and frankly, there is this second love track Gul has weaved for Khushi and Zoya...and she'd probably want to try i out at least on Seher...I really hope she does that and gets that track out of her system!😆 (OK. It is very easy to say this because the first time I felt for Sehaan as a couple was when I saw VMs made on them after his death...till then they were just time pass for me...Though I agree all the elements Mandy described were there...but it just wasn't indispensible for me...😳

Shaad: Misbah seems a better match for him actually.😳

i wouldnt have mind shad seher intially but after the tacky scenes with shajan a big no. i better watch a single seher living in rehans memory or a single mother seher as many are predicting seher could be pregnant. hints were there too. sehan was the only couple cvs didnt butcher by all third angle or fake srs etc etc. hope they maintain it till the end. shad seher looks like aher reloded. if they are bringing seher back bring for a purpouse rather than pairing her with her twins fake hubby or for cheap revenge by sk.

@Soup:
Yes we ALL connected to Rehan and Sanam's story because it was well done. It was well executed and it was nicely portrayed. Through their first tentative chats, to becoming friends, to Rehan supporting her through her issues, to then developing feelings for her and finally deciding to make it official by asking her grandma for her hand, and buying the ring.

THEN the rude awakening when his own Mother gets Sanam married to Aahil! He had no idea Aahil Bhai was harboring many a romantic feeling towards Sanam as well. I think he realised after marriage that maybe Aahil was acting possessive over Sanam. But he knew it was love, when he confronted him and openly showed him his jealousy and displeasure. At the same time, we saw him realise that Sanam also shared Aahil's feelings. SO like a SMART and Mature man would do he realised "They are married, they are in love, now what am I doing here?"

So he left, even as Aahil wanted him to leave. But the decision was his as well. That final "Kuda hafiz Sanam!", as he turns around and looks one last time at Sanam walking on the balcony above, as he leaves IM? That was his Aakri Alvida to his first love. That story was SO beautiful that anyone can appreciate it! That is why I appreciated Rehan with Seher too. Because I could tell he had matured through that experience and used it when he approached his relationship with Seher. Maybe the looks played a part at the start, but soon that didnt really matter!

I cant believe the SAME makers made such a shambles of Shaad and made him the object of so many people's despise! That is THEIR fault. Because we could ALL have felt the same way about Shaad too. Had they given this story even 5% of the honesty they gave the Rehan and Sanam story! Unfortunately they were more embroiled in "superficial" things like trying to "create chemistry" show "cuteness" and playing ASYA BG in a cynical way, that they FORGOT, that a good STORY is what makes people relate to a character or characters. NOT all these fake BS that they were doing. Maybe some people "fall" for all that outward fakeness. But most don't. If they had concentrated on the "story" aspect and given Shaad a better characterization, like they did to Rehan, then HE would also have got the same level of appreciation from people. The fact that people just dismiss him harshly, is the makers fault. Plain and simple!
